  • Users are able to create game levels and maps using the software and also place characters (provided with the software) to play and explore their levels with multiple player style options (Action Role Playing, Platformer, FPS)

  • Just to be CLEAR – AGFPRO is NOT a game engine. It is literally made using the Unity game engine. AGFPRO is a real-time, RAPID Game Environment Development Toolkit and is made to be used in concert with Unity Free and Pro for level/map creation. – However, AGFPRO does NOT need Unity to run or create levels/maps.

  • The scene files that users create in AGFPRO “Basic” and “Premium” can be imported into Unity4 Free and Pro using our AGF/Unity tools.

  • By using the DLC we have already released for AGFPRO (Fantasy Side-Scroller, Zombie FPS, Drone Kombat, BattleMat Multiplayer & Voxel Sculp), users are able to create playable levels with AGFPRO (only – not viable with Unity) with a variety of characters, assets, gameplay mechanics and special feature, “Scene-Linking” to connect game levels

Buggy. Doesn't render the terrain properly on my system and I can't get it to import into Unity - the process drops out with a bug:

KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

When I checked the forum, I saw other people were having the same trouble but there's no step by step workaround and no patch to fix the bug.

Also, check the terms on the packs (read the description of the DLC's thoroughly before making a purchase) because a lot of it you can't use for commercial use and can't export the DLC assets into Unity.

Not happy with it at all.

EVERYONE SAYING "YOU CANT MAKE A FULL GAME WITH THIS", THIS IS A LEVEL/MAP CREATOR FOR UNITY.

Some people have been giving this awesome piece of software negative reviews because they did not pay attention to what they were actually buying. This is not a GAME ENGINE. This is an amazing tool for developers and hobbyists who want to create detailed and neat looking maps/levels in no time. After you've created the levels for your game, you can then port them to Unity to make a FULL GAME.

+ Lots and lots of free assets, textures and models to use
+ Great graphics
+ Very detailed and easy level creation
+ Extremely kind and caring devs who actually take time to reply to people in the discussions when a user has problems/questions
+ Nice content updates


If you're interested in making a game with Unity, this is A MUST HAVE tool. It makes game creation with Unity much much easier and faster.

Potential buyers beware; this sofware is a bit of a money pit. All signs point to the continuation of the inclusion of useful new features as micro-DLC. Also keep in mind that the assets in most of the DLC are not meant for commercial use, making most of the content only suitable for hobbyists. This is also pretty tightly tied to the Unity ecosystem. You won't have much luck using anything you make with any other engine until they finally add in exporters to common formats (.dae, .fbx, .obj) and they may never do that.

Picked this up over a year ago, never got much use out of it because of persistent shader bugs on Linux for the two graphic cards I've used with it that have gone unfixed to this day. Their home-brewed DRM solution also seemed to cripple my copy of the software after the version 3 update due to a false positive. The devs refused to own up to this and instead continue to accuse me of pirating their DLC.

If you can get past all that and still feel interested in this, here are the main pros and cons from what I have seen so far.

Pros:
- Modestly fun terrain editing tools that are based around a novel grid setup you can raise and lover and brush the terrain to snap to it. Takes getting used to, but is well suited to the task.
- The terrain painting looks like it could be really useful, but due to the above mentioned shader bugs I haven't got much use out of this feature.
- The assets that came with premium looked fairly decent, if a bit generic. If you like cartoony low-poly stuff, then their art style will likely appeal to you.
- It often goes on sale. I know some friends of mine got it from sites like Bundle Stars for a lot less than I paid, with a few DLC included.
- Can't really think of anything else,

Cons:
- As mentioned, their customer support isn't all that great. If you happen to disagree with them, or have problems that they don't feel are worth their time to fix, don't expect it to end well.
- The controls are really clunky and I could never fully get used to them. I think it comes down to poor shortcut choices, but your mileage may vary.
- Map size is pretty limited and I haven't seen anything about plans to add in support for tiling any time soon. This is a bit of a deal breaker for me, but the space is probably plenty if you plan to have your world broken up into smaller maps with load points and barriers. I'm more interested in open-world designs though.
- They say this is a finished product, but there are still many missing features and most of them won't find their way into the basic version. Expect to need premium and continued DLC purchases if you hope to eventually have something resembling a full toolset here.
- Recent inclusion of pretty poorly designed extra DRM that seems to cripple your UI and may even blacklist your product keys preventing you from fixing the damage with a reinstall.

Overall I can't recommend this unless you are strictly a hobbyist who is fine with the fact that you will need to keep paying for this software on a regular basis in order to keep it useful and that it may eventually get permanently crippled by over-zealous DRM.

OK so this is more of a program that you make scenes aka maps in,while you can make some games in it,it's better to use unity put the game together.
That being said AgfPro + premium is a must(premium for "multiplayer" Map creation)
Pros.
1.Can save Hundreds of hours in map creation.
2.it's quick and rapid interface makes large maps duable by a one man team.
3.The included assests
4.Better than unity"s terrain engine

Cons.
1.it takes Time(about 5-10 minutes.) to get use to the controls
2.it can sometimes(its rare though) freeze(Might just be my Computer)

Final Verdict:
its a Great program for indie devs

Before i start, axis game factory is starting to become one of the most indie developer game makers on steam. With the programs axis game factory made such as zombie fps,fantasy, and BattleMat Multiplayer DLC you can almost make any type of game with this program. Its an easy program to use and a really cheap one.

I do recommend people to use it but please do not be the developers and create games like Grass simulator, The Slaughtering Grounds, and Forsaken Uprising. These are the games that developers should never make!

With Unity having a very hard to use (♥♥♥♥) Terrain Editor,
this tool is almost an essentail buy for hoppiest or beginning game developers.

As long as you have a computer that isn't a potato and dont buy usless DLC's (can't be used in commetial use),
There is no reason not to love this tool!

I would say, that this software is is an amazing level & world editor. It's an excellent choice for those who are beginners like me, or for those who like to make maps fast and easily.
It's easy to use and it has a lot of helpful features like premade models.
It's frequently updated, and if you have any problems with it you can contact Matt the creator of AGF and he will help you out. Also the DLCs are very useful and interesting.
I can only say good about this software.

Axis Game Factory's AGFPRO v2 is actually very very awesome to use and fun. Me and a couple of my friends bought this recently and Join into one session so we can all build stuff up together. there are many obects to use and tons of stuff to keep yourself busy!

I do recommend to give this software a try :D ENJOY!

I really enjoy this software. It allows me to be creative, and freely design my own worlds and towns. The game feels fairly easy to use, as the controls are easy to learn and smooth out the creation process. After playing a few games with my friends, we found ourselves laughing, and messing around. The game allows for a lot of fun, a lot of goofy sitations and an overall pleasant experience. Overall I would give this game an 8/10, due to a few minor bugs here and there. Would recommend. It's a blast to play with friends.

I've only messed with this a couple hours and it, but I figured I would leave a review while I'm thinking about it. I bought this from a bundle with premium and a few DLC packs($115 dollar value) for $10. I am basing my approval of the product on this price. I am a game developer and that also affects this review. While I recommend this product, I want to give this as fair a review as it deserves. I don't want to mislead anybody so I will not sugar coat anything.

Two things you should know:
THIS DOES NOT MAKE STANDALONE GAMES.
DLC IS FOR HOBBISTS.

This is a level creation tool that focuses heavily on terrain. It has painting and terrain sculpting and allows you to place objects such as buildings and props on the terrain. Terrain can be exported as a heightmap which is useful, but the main reason I bought this is it allows you to import AGF levels into Unity. This could potentially make level creation easier, but I am not sure whether or not we're going to use it for any future games. The DLC for this product is good for hobbists but any real developer(I hope) would make their own content for their games. If you are looking for something to show your friends a "game" you made, that's cool, but otherwise the DLC isn't worth anything other than placeholders. Also you can play levels you made in AGF right away in the program which is kinda cool.

Should you buy this? Answer these:
Can you get a good deal on it?
Are you inexperienced with game design and looking for something to "fiddle" with?
Are you a developer looking for an easier way to make levels... and have the ability to create your own content to work with?


Overall, I would say the bundle I purchased is worth $25 or so to hobbists. For a $10 price, it's well worth it.

To be honest this is only useful for creating maps and even though it may be useful for maps you can make better maps on unity than this. It is missing alot of things which is another downside to this if you to make a game don't start with this there is no free limits this is all looks and everything has its boundries. You cannot Make Custom Characters, 3D Models, Custom Sounds or weapon this is just unacceptable this software has alot more potential to it. As a consumer I would rate this 6/10. Would not reccoment this!

Axis is laggy and frustrating as hell. Everything axis does you can do in Unity free, so what is the point of Axis?

Now, in order to import custom models, I need to have Unity Pro which at the moment I can't pay for, therefore Axis is more of a liability rather than an investment.

If I wanted to create levels and stuff. I would stick to unity and see any package in the asset store that would help me do just that. Heck even RPG maker does a better job!

If I wanted to learn about level design I would use HAMMER which is entirely free and is waaaaay packed with better tools and assets. Unity itself yields better results without the lag and limitations Axis gives me.

I have been using it for more than one month already mainly because we are being forced to. The more I use it the more I hate it. At first I thought this would be interesting, but as time goes and goes my dissapoinment just grows.

Very frustrated with this toolset.

By far one of the best purchases in my life. I am currently new to Unity3d/game development in general and I was really disliking the terrain editing that was built in. I was searching around for everything, I even checked out Terrain Composer etc but nothing really felt ... to grasp what I was wanting to make for my game's environment. I saw AGF, and it just pretty much clicked in my head. This is it. I bought it, the big shibang. So many assets, an easy to use tool set, and my god, the voxel sculpt dlc is amazing. You can create large environments with this. Like Skyrim large, and create it with ease. The ONLY thing I can say that needs work, is the importing of other assets you can export from Unity, or if its already in a Unity package format. Other than that, beautiful work Matt!
