Sobre este jogo

Set in Wild West, FESTER MUDD: CURSE OF THE GOLD is a three-part comic saga of exploration, reunion, and redemption...and a love letter to the classic adventure games of the 90s!

Roused from a life of sloth to reunite with his long-lost brother in search of unimaginable riches, reluctant hero Fester Mudd somehow manages to be intrepid but cowardly, ambitious yet lazy, dimwitted but brilliant.

In Episode 1, Fester hits the trail to join his brother, Bud, in the downtrodden town of Loamsmouth. But when Bud is found to have mysteriously vanished, Fester realizes that the journey will be far longer and more treacherous than he bargained for...and he must enlist the aid of an experienced gunslinger to help him make his way through Indian territory to track down both his missing brother and the gold that awaits them both!

But gunslingers don't come cheap...and Fester must find a way to convince him to join him on the perilous quest.

This Episode sees Fester exploring Loamsmouth and surrounding territories. Along the way, he'll meet and deal with an assortment of Old West roughnecks, flim-flammers, and other larger-than-life characters...and give adventure game fans a huge blast from the past!

IMPORTANT: The development of Fester Mudd games has been cancelled, and this episode is the only one available. Please note that it was designed to be part of a trilogy, and you will not experience the full story as the other two episodes won’t become available. The developer sincerely wishes to thank everyone who played and supported the journey of Fester Mudd.

Missing the classic adventure games of the early 1990s like Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones, Monkey Island, or dozens like them? Want to see the genre that inspired games like the fantastic, story-driven Telltale Games adventures? Just want to play a fun little storyline that requires a little puzzling to work your way through?

Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold is an episodic Wild West adventure that does homage to those old Lucas Arts SCUMM games without the need for a floppy disk drive or emulator. Everything is there, from the user interface to the 16-bit graphics. The only thing missing is the Lucas Arts logo.

The story isn't terribly deep but it's fun to play and leaves you ready for the subsequent episodes, which unfortunately haven't come to Steam in the year plus since Episode 1's release. The puzzles involve simple character dialogue and finding out which objects are interactive and how they can be used to interact with other objects. Throw in a few fart jokes and some butt-related humor and you've got the ingredients for success!

Except for the fact that this story ends with a "to be continued" that has yet to actually continue (at least on Steam), Fester Mudd is still worth playing. I do think that the price tag, at $10, is pretty high for the 2-3 hours of content and lack of replayability and suggest you look for this one on sale.

Solid adventure and short gameplay but decent comedy western. Most of the puzzles make sense and the humor is great. An entertaining point-and-click-adventure experience. It's an excellent tribute to the former giants of the adventure game industry.

Pretty enjoyable throwback to the LucasArts Era of Adventure Games and much better than expected. However, it is quiet short and it is unlikely that the other episodes will ever be developed and released. That is unfortunate especially since the episodes are not self contained stories, so this is more like a great appetizer to a delicious main menu that is never to arrive. I got it for a few cents so I can't complain, but I would not recommend it at it's current price because of the short length and the lack of a future. Just get it if it pops up in a bundle you're interested in and try it out then and you might be pleasently surprised.

This is a great game!
Reminds me of the good old days playing monkey island, indiana jones, loom etc.
It's very enjoyable, puzzles are not too difficult, dialogues are funny.
Only downside is that it's very short and I believe there wasn't any funding for part 2, so I'll never find out how it ends. :(
Kickstarter maybe?

A good short point n click puzzle game. Dialogue isn't offensive at all but may not be appropriate for young children.

The game opens with this statement: "This game is a tribute to the golden era of adventure gaming." I believe it hits the mark, for better and for worse. The "point-and-click" adventure games of the past would be considered difficult and boring by today's standards. Modern gamers probably won't enjoy stepping back in time to play a game requiring a fair amount of patience and critical thinking. But if you remember those days long past with a warm and fuzzy nostalgia, then I don't think you'll be disappointed by this short trip down memory lane. I say "short" because it is only an episode. (The developers did not profit enough to make any more, which I think is unfortunate.) I finished it in roughly 3.5 hours, which is longer than others, but I enjoy exploring every dialogue tree and trying silly things to see what I can make the main character do. While the main character isn't very identifiable, every character is memorable and nobody is a throw-away. I only wish I could hear them speak. The music and pixel art is fitting as a tribute game, though I wish there were a few more close-ups and cut-aways. The puzzles are very well balanced in terms of difficulty, which is no small feat for this genre. I got stuck, but I never felt as though I had nothing to do. I'd simply switch puzzles or try other ideas. I think I stumbled upon a solution or two before I encountered the corresponding problem, but that's forgivable in my book. The very last puzzle was frustrating, but maybe that's fair since it should be the most difficult of the game. The humor ranges from cliché to lough-out-loud (I had several of these moments). There aren't any game-breaking bugs, but I did experience a little glitch where everything blacked out for a moment. Overall, I think it's fun, and worth its sale price. Too bad there weren't any more episodes made; I'd have bought them on sale too.

Caution: There's lots of swearing, which may surprise you since it has a cartoony art style.

I don't recommend giving in to these cockamamie schemes of episodic games. The publisher should either publish complete or not publish at all. Don't waste your money here.

A quite charming point and click game with fairly good puzzles and the usual "silly adventure game"-logic so expect quite odd solutions. The jokes and references are mostly good but some fall a bit flat but thats quite hard to avoid.

There are a few missable achievements in the game but you will encounter most of them by exploring the game and reading the achievement descriptions for hints (quite hint free).

Time to 100%: ~2 hours

This is an awesome little retro game. The puzzles are complicated enough to be entertaining but easy enough to not put a serious dent on your afternoon. There are many entertaining in-jokes that harken back to the 80s and 90s. I think old-school adventure gamers will likely be the ones who appreciate this game the most, but it is suitable for new players too.

What's the difference between this game and "Day of the Tentacle", "Monkey Island", "Full Throttle", etc... ?

The Lucasarts logo.

I have a love-hate relationship with Adventure / Point & Click games. I like them but most of them suffer from terrible writing, terrible gameplay and/or terrible graphics and in all honesty, Fester Mudd doesn't fail at either.

The writing is superb. Yes, it's an episodic game but the story is well-written enough to interest me in the next episode. Likewise, writing for "western" era can be hard but I feel the devs really pulled it off nicely.
The gameplay is perfect. I rage fairly quickly at stupid gameplay elements (including but not restricted to, clunky UI, unskippable text, unskippable tedious cutscenes, etc...) and I can proudly say nothing made me rage in fester Mudd.
The graphics are top-notch for a retro-style / pixel art point & click adventure.

TL;DR 11/10, would bang.

Short and slightly funny. The humor doesn't get much deeper than fart jokes. It happens I actually find those a bit hilarious...

An easy clear too if you are one of those without much time to invest in gaming and huge, towering backlogs.

Good homage to the old PC adventure classics too, I felt right back at home with the interface.

An enjoyable take on the point-and-click-then-point-and-click-again adventure games from the golden ages when LucasArts and Sierra made their classics. Expect plenty of slapstick humor, retro styled graphics, crude sound effects, 8-bit tunes and a very short gameplay experience (episode one of three come).

I would not recommend purchasing this at the current full price of $10, since you can run through it in an hour or so, but definitely pick it up on sale or off a bundle. Nostalgia filled sighs and giggles are guaranteed. 4/5

Funny game, good way to spend 2-3 hours when you're bored. Can't wait for the second episode! :D Though I don't think it's worth €9, as it doesn't last very long, but still fun nonetheless.

Pretty enjoyable point and click adventure game, but far from worth $10. You can finish the whole game in under two hours. If you can pick it up on a very big sale, it was kind of fun if you want a simple western themed Maniac Mansion throwback

Very nice classic style adventure. Really funny but... it´s very very easy and short to medium-advanced adventure players. It would have been better to put a price 5€ max... ¿three episodes = 27€? Maybe too expensive.
