"A fairly simple "runner" in which you fly a solar powered space-craft. Gorgeous, minimalist graphics, leaderboard focused gameplay. Daily challenges."

Sunrise DLC for Race The Sun is here!

Hello everybody!

First, before I get into the good stuff, let me just officially introduce myself. My name is Drew and I am the new Flippfly Community & Customer Support Manager. This means you'll start to see me join discussions and post announcements like these. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll still hear from Aaron and Forest some, too.

I'm also the first person you speak with over at our support forum and through our primary Twitter and Facebook accounts. I will be lurking everywhere. ...But enough about me!

For some time, our players have been asking for a "zen" type mode for Race The Sun. And we’ve been listening! Today we launched a $1.99 DLC here on Steam, called Sunrise. This beautiful new mode has all the speed of the original but without a setting sun, an increasing difficulty, or a leaderboard. Just settle in and zone out for one infinite region of bliss. Go check it out!

We’re looking forward to hear what you think! Please leave us your comments!

RTS Update

Along with this newly available DLC, we have also made some updates to the game including new features we think you're going to love!

  • First-Person Camera Mode: at the press of a button ("c" on your keyboard by default) race with a cockpit view from within the ship!
  • Friend's Highscores in the Sky: now you can literally see yourself passing your friend’s scores without leaving the main course!

We're very excited about these updates and hope you are, too! Please let us know what you think of the new features.

And I look forward to talking with you in the Discussions section. If you ever experience any strange behavior with Race The Sun or need help with your Flippfly account or other Flippfly products, please head over to our support forum and I will see what I can do for you.

You can also say hello to us via Twitter and Facebook.

Until next time,
— Drew

In some ways, this game is the perfect metaphor for our lives. Each of us is the little spacecraft and we chase after the light of our dreams. There will be several paths for us to try out on our journey, with the shadow of our doubts slowing us down if we let it. We will inevitably crash and burn many... many times into obstacles that came out of ♥♥♥♥ing nowhere and there will be that one stage that will seem impossible. However, if we have the courage to press that 'retry' button, then eventually we will beat the game. Just remember to never lose sight of your dream, and don't let the sun set on you before you get to the end.

Praise the sun. 10/10

With Kairo like graphics and atmospheric sounds Race the Sun addicts you to itself. The game is based on a very basic mechanics and you don't need to challenge with it. There are three game mods in the game which two of them will be opened after leveling up. Game's map is updating daily so you are playing in the new world every day. Also there are some upgrades you can earn by completing missions and then leveling up. They are really helpful to beat your last record and discover new levels in the game's world. It was cheap in the sales so you must give it a try. Any arcade fan can easily like this game.

FLY LIKE A BIRD... and as far as I know you don't sting anyone... yet. Just duck and weave like the old master and you'll be fine. Oh yeah you got a jump thing too... that's quite unlike the sweet science but heck... just get it and enjoy it.

Especially today... this fine day... since it's free. Heck I paid 2.50 for it back in a sale and I thought it was a bargain so for naught... well, just do it!

Don't let your flights of fancy be... we'll actually do let them be flights of fancy.

Great game to play every now and then. Really fun and fast paced.
Graphics looks minimalistic with just mostly grey but it is an interesting style and doesn't distract from the action.
The Soundtrack is good but there sadly aren't that many songs. You can buy it here.
Controlls feel very tight.

There are also 3 different mode:
  • Normal (which you will play most of the time)
  • Apocalypse (when you want more challenge)
  • Labyrinth (a more slower paced mode, which allows you to have more time to
decide where to go with a small amount of puzzles
  • Zen Mode (accessable only with the DLC, this is a relaxing mode without any presure or challenge

The levels/world changes every 24h so you have enought time to try to get a high score for the day but also enought divercity so it doesn't get boring that quickly.

There is one DLC which adds the Zen Mode (like already listed above)

There is also the Steam Workshop with user-created levels but can give a nice change of the aesthetic and the gameplay.

The game is currently in the Humble Weekly Sale
If you want to support the developers more buy it on their Web Site
You will get a DRM-Free version of the game as well and the devs get a higher percentage of the money
