About This Game

Overview: Arcade Racer focused on avoiding obstacles

The Good:

+The game goes on forever, the goal is not only how far you can go but how many points you can get. The premise is that your ship is solar powered, thus staying in the sunlight keeps you going. The sun slowly goes down creating more shadows. Powerups can extend your time.

+ Every 24 hours the course is reset. Everything is randomized to a degree forcing you to rely more on skill and luck rather than memorization

+ The game gives you a multiple objectives to complete. After completing them your ship gets upgraded.

+VERY addicting, the game has the "just one more time" feeling to it.

+Steamworkshop is intregrated very nicely with a variety of different maps to try out.

+The game has a unique and simplistic artstyle to it. As the sun sets it creates a really nice setting. After playing some of the user generated maps you really see some of the verstatily of the engine and graphics despite how simple it is.

+Hard mode to really test you to the limit....if you find the main game to easy.

The Bad:

- You will get frustrated....a lot.

Conclusion

This is a really fun and simple game was a simple premise and works wonderfully due to the randomness of the world. Its a game you can keep going back to and play in short sessions.

This game is really ♥♥♥♥ing addicting, fast and fun. I love these types of repetitive timelimited games!
I just love the 24 hour world generator, really great system for a game like this, adds completely new feels everytime and makes it so all those try hard speed runners cant keep this game memoriezed for long

Fits the title very well, it truely is a Race To The Sun.

This game is a four letter word, namely ♥♥♥♥!

or maybe a divine word and a four letter word, such as HOLY ♥♥♥♥!

In otherwords..... this game is simply amazing. It also might give you a heart attack, or make you feel all giggity on the inside, butterflies in the stomach and such. That's the effect I'm getting right now; something between that and the heart-pounding fight or flight adrenaline rush of a century (a lil hyperbole there).

You fly in the smoothest riding, touchiest to control aircraft in the universe cruising at lightning speed. Every crash brings both a sense of dread and elation! After awhile, crashing becomes insanely fun, actually! In this game, unlike sex, lasting 3 minutes is a good thing! What feels even more good than the ejaculatory experience of exploding into objects with your 'aircraft' is the experience of weaving impossibly through obstacles, or richocheting off of them to extreme heights only to be thrown down into a chaotically destructive maze of impossibility. BUY THIS ♥♥♥♥. It's also similar to Super Hexagon and I thought it would be useful to compare the two, since I am so in love with that game as well, so.....

THE BREAKDOWN: (Comparison of Race the Sun and Super Hexagon)

On the annoying scale: I would rank it slightly under SuperHexagon which is a game that should also be in your library if you end up being into this game, or if you haven't already bought it.... SH, as it stands is the most annoying/frustrating game of all time. RtS: 8 , SH: 10

Challenge/Difficulty: I would have to say about the same thing here, but it's a close match. RtS: 9, SH: 10

Fun Factor: BOTH 10's!

Visual Appeal: This is where Race the Sun takes the lead, with a score that is relative to this type of very minimalist arcade game: RtS: 10, SH: 8

Music Annoyingness: 10 - 10

Mind-♥♥♥♥ing Awesomeness: 10-10

A great game to play with the controller, I feel that this is the perfect game for casual racing if you are tired of playing something more complicated or you just want a quick high speed thrill (just the load time for this game make it good for this).

I also really like the idea of trying to out run the sun, kind of remember me the novel "Dying of the Light" from George R.R. Martin .

This game is a metaphore about life. You have to stay in the suns rays but eventually the dusk will come. The sun will set. And we all will lose. Great casual game.

I've really got nothing to say about this game other than the fact that it is pretty good. I like it best with an Xbox controller.

The minimalist graphics, sounds, and mechanics contribute a sort of zen quality; relaxing, in a way, while requiring every reflex to be spot-on. Each region has a distinct visual style, making you want to explore it, but there's no way to go too far off the path, and the repetitive nature within a level makes it hard to remember what comes next. Upgrades are tied to a series of achievements, some trivial, others frustrating, but always having three current ones makes it fairly easy to climb quickly.

My children, too, love it, partly for the thrill of seeing a place they've never been able to get to before, and partly for the flashy barrel rolls. Granted, they die even more often than I do, but that makes it even easier to prefix a request with "Okay, the next time you die, ..."

Post-Rock: The Video Game.

It's essentially a rogue-like racing game. If that idea appeals to you, I can't reccomend this game enough.

My only complaint would be the default music for the game. It gets repetitive pretty fast. If you were to mute it, however, and put on something like, say. God Is An Astronaut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgc9g7OB6Jc while you play, you'll really have something special.

It's fun, it's addictive, it's challenging, it's beautiful. There's nothing else like it. The fact that the worlds are randomly generated makes it something even greater that I will probably keep playing for a very long time.

A perfect game for when you just want to sit down and race a bit. Love the daily new worlds, that keeps the game fresh. Portals to player-created worlds are cool too.
