We solved the Android problem for Race The Sun

Just posted about this on our website and shared it on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

We have been working on an Android version of Race the Sun, and it will be ready for release on Google Play soon. We are still working out the details of a release date and exactly what devices we can support, but we know that the game will have the same features as the iOS version, including leaderboards, achievements, and a world that regenerates daily.

Android Beta Testers Wanted

We will be running a closed beta for those who want to test the game early. You can sign up here if you would like to apply to be a beta tester.

Thanks to everyone who has requested an Android version — we are super pumped that we can finally make it happen.

Race the sun is a hidden gem where it takes a bit to understand how it works. After a bit of practice you start to understand the mechanics behind it.
The music in-game is perfect for this game, hohwever if you want to replace their music with your music you can do that, because the game is made in such a way that you can play any music with it.

In "Race The Sun" you take control of a solar powered craft as you fly throught 25 levels and gather upgrades for you ship and complete daily challanges in random levels.
Your biggest opponent in this game is the Sun. Your ship need solar power to work so the game gives you more showdy places as you go further in levels.
The graphics are minimalistics so any pc can run it nicely. The design is simple yet diverse with little to no curves.
Beware of the rage that will come with progressing throught levels, passing throught portals and suddenly crashing/running out of power andhaving to restart. Althought all of this can be averted if you simply play for fun.

Very cool. Stylishly designed, nice music, great ambience. Never feels samey, which is odd, as the courses are the same each time, so far as I can tell. Good for casual gaming.

Really cool game. Easy to play and hard to master. It is more like mobile game, but addictive. You are flying with spaceship powered by sun and trying to avoid obstacles. That is it, do not know why but it is enough.

Nothing can descibe the joy I've had with this piece of ♥♥♥♥ while waiting on cues and/or friends with technical microphone difficulties. It's like it was meant for me and my lack of interest in actually doing something worthwhile with my mundane forest life.

Good Game.

Ah, Race The Sun reminds me good old 3D Deathchase back from 1983. You don't drive a motorbike anymore and you can't shoot and there are no more trees. But this game gives same feeling of infinite madness and tons of crazy things to smash yourself into. And if you have old PC powerfull enough to start Steam client you should run this game without any problems.

Very simple and entertaining game. With controller support, it can be a simple pass-and-play game with friends. Also fun to make your own levels and try to beat your friends' records.

Supports all types on controllers, the game is also very fun with a controller as well. I personally tested Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Dualshock controllers. I also tested Rock Candy controllers and the game supports it very well!

A MINIMALISTIC Breakdown Rating

PROS
  • Simple controls.
  • Minimalistic geometric designs (simple yet elegant).
  • Quite challenging.
  • World changes everyday.
  • Low specifications required (who could ask for more?).
  • Also available on Google Play and Apple App Store.

CONS
  • Slippery-like movements (when playing in PC). You totally need a controller (optional).
  • Kinda dark at some regions and some areas are edgy to drift/turn to another direction.

OVERALL - This game is absolutely simple yet amazing. Worth to buy the game and its DLCs (Sunrise DLC is so awesome).

RATING - 9/10 would find ourselves chasing the sun until sunset.

Great time killer. Surprisingly fun and challenging, I've put 10+ hours into this game + DLC and it's well worth the money I've spent on it, The further you get into the game, the more difficult it gets and it's a pleasant challange, some missions are obsurd but all in all, quite fun and an amazing way to kill time.

A hidden gem! No seriously; if you like "endless running" games, then this is an excellent choice.

The minimalistic visuals are beautiful on their own, managing to create some wonderful vistas. The main interest you'll have in this game, though, is the gameplay. While seemingly simple and repetitive, if you're into games like these, then you'll probably not end up bored.

It does one thing, and it does it really, really well. You're a solar craft that travels the landscape, avoiding objects and shadows in your way. The sun is, almost in the literal sense of the word, your death timer, as your solar craft will quickly drain battery if the sun goes down, or if you spend too much time in shadows (damn you clouds! *shakes fist angrily toward the sky*).

Race The Sun features a daily challenge, in the form of a randomly generated map, leaderboards, a pretty nice soundtrack, and some basic customization of the craft. Customization includes various wing decals, as well as the more important attachments that enhance your solar craft in many different ways. These are unlocked throughout the 25 levels, that you in turn gain through more or less difficult objectives given to you while playing.

It's great when you don't know what to do with yourself, when you're coming home tired from work or school, or when you just want to relax. For me personally, it works great as both an exciter and a relaxer, depending on my mood and the situation.

If you'd rather play your own music, instead of the in game one, I'll have you know it works well with almost anything from death metal to drum and bass.

To hear our full review of Race the Sun, listen to the episode on Game Hoard Podcast

Race the Sun is a fun, simple, endless runner where you pilot a solar-powered hovercraft. You have to dodge obstacles while collecting power ups and keeping pace with the sun so as to maintain power. Besides trying to rise in the leaderboards, there are objectives to complete (such as making it to a certain distance, spending an amount of time airborne, doing a bunch of barrel rolls without crashing, etc.) that keep the game interesting. Beating these objectives levels you up and lets you get new power ups and upgrades. Additionally, the developers upload a new level every 24 hours, so there is always a new challenge. The game also includes a fairly robust level editor that allows users to create and share their own levels. Some of these levels can be accessed by portals found within the developer levels.

All of this leads to an experience that is engaging, challenging, and very rewarding, despite a total lack of story and the very simple graphics and sound. Overall, we definitely recommend playing the game if you want an arcade type of experience that still offers new challenges after many hours of play.

This is a very respectable little diversion, especially for the wonderful price of free. It's sort of a procedurally generated Wipeout where you just fly forwards as fast as you can, picking up power-ups and trying to get to the end of the level without crashing into stuff. It's very stylized, and the sunset conceit gives it a memorable look. Much like Wipeout, the mechanics are essentially based on a trial-and-error process of learning the optimal paths through the level, but by recreating those levels every 24 hours it theoretically remains interesting. Honestly, i played it for a day and then never went back because i don't find the repetitive-death mechanic very compelling, but for an hour or two it was entertaining and pretty.

A fun and quirky game with tight controls that makes me come back every now and then.
The sensation of speed and acceleration is great - Indeed a lot better than you might expect from the lowpoly graphics.
Normal mode is easy enough for me to enjoy it personally, Apocalypse mode is hard enough to appeal to experts.
