MouseCraft is a puzzle game where players help mice in their relentless quest for cheese by stacking the world's most famous blocks: Tetrominos.

Starring: Mad Cat Scientist, Three Blind Mice and tons of irresistably delicious Cheese.

Game Features:

  • Experience a remix of two classic gameplay mechanics: Pile up Tetromino bricks to create a safe path for as many mice as possible.
  • Discover an epic tale of a crazy cat scientist who is striving to unlock the potential of a mysterious, mice-powered machine.
  • Defeat obstacles, overcome gaps and gather collectibles by using different types of blocks, of blocks, be them explosive, crumbling or even jelly ones.
  • Prove your stacking skills by playing the game in a fast-paced Arcade mode or a mind-challenging Puzzle mode.

EDIT (Feb 7, 2014: No longer giving away copies of the game. I want to thank everyone who got in touch with me and gave this game a shot! You rule!)

I love everything about this game. So take this review with a grain of salt as I am completely biased in favor with it.

The graphics are great and captivating. They're meant to be cartoony, so do not expect realism. Still there is a lot of details and you can notice they went the extra mile to bring the scenario to life, ehancing the experience and making the puzzles all the more rewarding and fun to solve: it makes you feel like you're working towards a greater goal instead of just playing a few puzzles to pass the time. The colors are vivid, expressed in soothing tones that make the graphics very relaxing to stare at.

The game is intuitive and immersive, and the mechanics are easy to get used to. You mainly use your mouse (a mouse guiding mice; poetic!); there is very limited keyboard support right now, but the developers say they will implement it later on.

The premise of the game is to be an enjoyable casual game, so if you are a hardcore puzzle game fan, this may not be for you: the puzzles are challenging for a casual gamer. You spend a few minutes trying to figure them out and, after a couple of tries, you usually get it right without much (or any at all) frustration. After a couple of puzzles you are satisfied and leave the game feeling like a champion.

However, all of the puzzles can be solved quickly; so if you're not in it for the fun factor or to disconnect from reality for a while, but rather only finish a game in whatever ways possible, this experience will be a very short one for you. Each puzzle usually has a very easy way out, so if you don't want to complete them 100%, you may finish all of them (there are 30 so far) in less than an hour.

For an alpha version, it is quite well polished. You won't find that many bugs, and the ones you do find are not game breaking. Level 22 has a bug that may prevent you from finishing it 100% at first sight, but there is one alternative way. Most of the puzzles have several different ways of being solved.

There is also a level editor that should keep you entertained after the puzzle mode is complete (but you can start creating levels right away if you wish so). With a bit of work you can share your levels in the developer's website forum and also download levels that other players created. This assures this game always have something to offer. For now there is no Steamworks integration.

What I like the most about the game is the immersion and cute characters. Schrödinger, the crazy cat scientist, is charismatic and cute (as well as the mice, but that goes without saying!), and he makes you feel like you're a crazy scientist yourself. The fact that each stage "slides" to the next one (instead of giving you a static loading screen) helps maintain immersion and you feel like you're at the lab instead of playing a game.

Overall it's a nice experience that will make you smile after a long day, helping you forget of your problems for a while as you immerse yourself in a cartoony world of enjoyable puzzles that are difficult enough to make you feel like a crazy cat genius yourself at the end of each stage.

MouseCraft is Tetris mixed with Lemmings, but instead of lemmings there are mice. It's original and works very well. I don't really know what more to say about it, because I think most of us will be able to visualize what it will play like now.
If you like the sound of it, just buy it already.

A very enjoyable puzzle game.
The graphics are charming and suit it perfectly.
Puzzles are challenging but not unreasonably hard. (Currently have gold on all available levels)
A must buy for puzzle lovers, especially for the price they want.
Waiting eagerly for the upcoming levels.
