Free “Innovation path” for OMSI 2 - Hamburg Day & Night

The well known lines 109 and 688 will also be available in a modern version (timetable change Dec. 2015) with new buildings, cross roads, revised textures and many new objects such as traffic lights and stops.

Also included are updates with new features and bug fixes for the buses and AI cars.

Screenshots now on www.hamburg-bussim.de .

What does the update contain?

The developer has gathered all changes of the lines 109 and 688 in Hamburg from June to November 2015. New textures were created, all cross roads were exported and of course all structural changes were implemented, for example rebuilt cross roads, new bus lanes, new buildings.

Digital FIMS indicator, new bus stop shelters, stop signs with dynamic labeling (all lines) and road signs have also been added.

The highlight is undoubtedly the new lots in the area ZOB/Adenauer Allee and U Alsterdorf with charging stations for electric buses.
Fares, timetables and cycles were also brought up-to-date.

You can now make short trips to Alsterchaussee out of the peak hours. Due to the short lifespan of this phenomenon, the developer decided against using the "M" at the Metro bus. This was removed in December, 2015.

The free update is not about new vehicles or lines!

Can I use the old Hamburg map? Will my mods removed by the update?

Do not worry, the new map will still be installed. The old map is retained in its original condition of 2006. It is always recommend to regularly secure your private modifications before updates are installed. However, the new map is designed for not changing any existing files of the old map.

About This Game

Off to the next round! Experience a new omnibus simulator with OMSI 2 and start discovering Spandau while driving the omnibus. OMSI 2 is the successor of the well-known and awarded omnibus simulator "OMSI - The Bus Simulator". OMSI 2 not only offers the routes and buses you already know from OMSI, but adds lots of exciting new features. In OMSI 2 you can drive the first ever articulated bus in the OMSI history, the MAN NG272. Explore the new omnibus line 5 covering a total distance of 12 km from the subway station Ruhleben to the psychiatric clinic Spandau. Thanks to the newly added chronology function you´ll not only be able to drive through Spandau in 1986, but also to relive the changes taking place in Spandau between 1986 and 1994.

Enjoy the charm of the 80s and 90s and find out how the period after the fall of the Berlin Wall was. And this all at wheel of a double-decker or articulated bus.

New features in OMSI 2:

  • The articulated bus MAN NG272 with the exact physical and visual recreation of the joint kinematics as well as corresponding sounds and systems (bending protection).
  • The MAN NL202 as well as reworked and added models of the known types SD200 and SD202 (more years of production, emergency door openers, destination boards, sound variations depending on vehicle number).
  • The Spandau omnibus line 5 from the subway station Ruhleben to the psychiatric clinic Spandau covering a total distance of 12 km, several new buildings, a squeezed timetable and a tight 5 minute rhythm with various bus termini and assignments for diverse and long lasting driving pleasure.
  • Replication of original timetables and tour plans for omnibus lines 5 and 92.
  • Chronology function: Relive the change taking place in Spandau between 1986 and 1994! OMSI 2 now replicates the exciting years following the German reunification and all the innovations and route expansions (line 137 to Falkensee) that came along with it. This function also allows temporary changes to maps or routes caused by construction sites or special buses.
  • Advanced and improved AI traffic (better road- and steering behaviour, railway- and subway traffic)
  • System damage model including different malfunctions which take time to fix
  • OMSI 2 supports a world coordinate system so it is possible to import a DEM (Digital Elevation Model) with the help of a DLL you can even program yourself.
  • Animated real vertical profile on the Spandau map
  • New script functions such as full matrix view, advanced access to system variables.
  • New editor functions: automatic import of aerial imagery, terrain adapts to run of the road, improved spline connection algorithm, rotation of objects around all axes. Intersections can easily be equipped with individual vertical profiles.
  • Saving optimized loading of maps which allows considerably larger maps

Additional features:

  • The classic versions of the MAN double-decker buses SD200 and SD202 are included
  • Realistic and intelligent traffic and detailed landscape
  • Realistic and controllable weather and seasonal effects
  • Realistic day and night effects
  • Many animations and animated objects
  • Fully functional IBIS (integrated on-board information system)
  • Four different views: driver sight, passenger sight, exterior view or free view
  • Script engine to influence the handling characteristics and functions of the bus
  • Easy to use, map-based track editorInsert your own vehicles

Summary - this is still the best bus simulator around.
Pros:
1. Realistic driving.
2. Carefully researched routes.
3. Very realistic buses, with all of their features and with most meticulous attention to detail.
4. Many different buses modelled and quite some routes.
5. You can really see how the world was changing. I especially like to see how different Berlin was before and after the German Unification. The contrast between the West Berlin and the former German Democratic Republic is amazing.
6. Maps are really nicely done.
7. The customization offers you some really HUGE possibilities - with all those different ratios of AI car, pedestrian, parked cars spawning rates and various objects rates you can depict any time of the day, adjust settings to the capabilities of your PC, and generally adjust everything to your liking. This feature is truly unparalleled and its a shame that other simulators lack it.
8. Steering wheel works great and was very easy to configure.
9. Sounds are simply great.
10. There are many mods you can download and many different routes and buses to try.
11. You can customize weather A LOT - so many different settings grant a lot of freedom.
12. AI of the cars is really fine and seems realistic, although sometimes can be quite suicidal if you make a mistake - charging to hit you instead of braking.

Cons
1. Stability - the game likes to freeze, altough nothing game-breaking.
2. Passengers - they look horrible and there are only few models out there. This is perhaps the worst thing in the game.
3. Too little variation in AI cars perhaps.

This is a really good simulator... But as with every simulator you are going to have to spend a but of money on it as the stock stuff gets boring quite fast.
I did buy 1 DLC that was enjoyable but destroyed performace so I got a refund on that.

Overall a good game but I am not sure I want to spend any more on it than I already have.

OMSI 2 is a good game but only if you know how to use it properly. I found it very hard to set up the bus and for a while I didn't know how to do any routes. The game is quite glitchy and sometimes doesn't work porperly. But when it does work it is a great game! I would only recommend it to people who either are already familiar with how to set up buses or don't mind spending alot of time researching how it works. But all in all, when it works it's a great game!

*BEEEEP* What..? What is that sound? Why is that light blinking non stop?? What is going on?! Which is why I love OMSI 2 despite the bugs and glitches. It is the most realistic bus simulator for those people who love deeply to such. So I would recommend to people who does like this and has the brain to see that, you need a certain specification in order to play it with less crashing and jumping.

Omsi 2. What can you say?
There are good merits in this simulator for start:
-lot of working functions in the bus.
-The driving experience is great.
-lot of mods, and maps

Neutral things:
-key bindings
-the behaviour of the passengers, they are sometimes unncessarly ♥♥♥♥♥y
-the latest patch really improved the stability of the game

Negative thing
-the AI. It is still a dumbass. I mean it produces hairy situations, and simply crash into your bus

One of the best Bus Simulator's out there.
A few downsides that I have become used to is the fps on a decent machine and constant freezing and crashing. With that aside its a great simulator, made better if one has a steering wheel.

OMSI 2 is one of the best simulators around to date.
It has such a large ability to be customised and it so supportive of people developing mods.
It's functionality is massively advanced for the age of the game.
At times there can be issues with the game on some systems, but overall it is an a,aging application and totally worth buying.

This game is very realistic, the bus feels very weighty and real. However the graphics are terrible in some areas and the AI is known to do really dumb things. I would enjoy it more if it didn't cost $43.00.

This game... It had many freeware Add-ons, now all of them turn into payware. It also is very glitchy. Just don't buy it!
