This is a pretty fun game for those who like to explore. The maps are grided much like in Minecraft, but in 2D instead. There is more detail in the art and a good storyline. Par-cor is needed a bit as you progress in game, but lots of fun getting ore and doing quests.

Awesome game!
Reminded me a little bit of Spelunky without the timer

An enjoyable, yet very basic game. It's quick, quirky, cute, but lacks any real depth. It ends up being a little grindy (needlessly at points) which only serves to stretch out a pretty shallow, short experience. Worth it for $1, something to keep you happy for a couple of hours on an afternoon, but not much more.

Overview: 2D Platformer

The Good:

+Good Art style with bright colorful visuals

+The main premise of the game is that you dig further and further in the mine with a variety of tools, along the way you will collect minerals that have to be taken back to town to convert to cash which you then use to purchase upgrades that will make you dig faster and/or make you stronger. In addition to your health you also have water and light. Water is used to power up some of your tools which can be refilled by finding water pools or killing enemies. Light is used to see which blocks contain minerals. Once your light goes out it becomes much harder to dig effectively although not impossible. The farther you go into the mine the harder enemies become in addition to a variety of traps you have to watch out for.

+ Cute Simple storyline that fits the game

+Addicting gameplay

The Average

A fairly short game which can be beaten in roughly 3-4 hours.

There are times when you can get 'stuck' and can't return back to town which can be frustrating but also a reminder to
manage your resources better.

Easy last boss

Conclusion

Steamworld Dig is a simple game yet executed wonderfully. Its a casual game that finds the sweet spot in terms of difficulty and fun.
