Syder Arcade is a love letter to Amiga games of the ‘90s, no coins, no upgrade grinding, just your tenacity and a motherload of alien invaders.

Syder Arcade is a free scrolling, multi directional shoot 'em up, an uncompromised old-school experience, furious, challenging, and straightforward. This game will bring you back in time, when bulky starships were cool and games were about player skill and swearing madly at your computer.

Syder Arcade is as good as any shoot'em up in the arcades in the 80's-90's but with better graphics and more on screen. Three different ships to choose from and they are very different in form and funtion. If you enjoy side-scroll shoot'em ups then this is a must have.

Great shooter with an AWESOME soundtrack.

This is an enjoyable throwback to side-scrolling shooters like ThunderForce or Gradius. Simple responsive controls, great soundtrack and colorful graphics made this an engaging game to play through. My only complaint is that it has a very short campaign of six missions. There are four separate ships to try each with different weapons, and several difficulty options as well, so replay value is there regardless of short campaign.

I really wish there was a neutral rating. There were certainly aspects of the game I enjoyed, but boy oh boy are there bugs. This game clearly needed 1 or 2 more pollishing passes to balance out things and fix annoying issues with it.

It was also VERY short. I've played 1.7 hours of the game, and I've already completed it. One sitting. I even sat through a few plays of the gauntlet forever mode, but alas, I've lost interest.

Here's my pros/cons list.

Needs work:
- Some textures were great. Others were very pixelated. Set a standard for your textures.
- Zero character development. I realize that character development in these types of games may be difficult to do. But I think it would help get the player connected and involved in the story.
- Level descriptions were too busy. Couldn't tell if I was supposed to read them, or just click go.
- Sound system problems. From too many sounds overlapping and overdriving, to the music cutting out in an obvious loop restart
- SFX were fairly generic
- Dialog is a bit childish. It tries to be funny, but just.. isn't.
- Campaign was too short
- Level difficulty went from omg easy mode to omg impossihard. Level progression needs to be steady, not in your face.

Was good:
- Defender style gameplay was refreshing. I liked keeping an eye on my tail to be sure its clear
- Responsive controls. I'm using an xbox controller on my pc
- Addons and upgrades accumulate through the game. I liked that
- Music was GREAT. I really dig it, and thought it was the best part of the game
- Retro filters. You could play the game as if it was using an Amiga video card. Neat

I am in the middle of developing my own shmup, so I'm 'researching' by other games out there. It's really a lot of work to finish a game, polish it, remove what doesn't work, etc. But in the end, you absolutely must do all of that because it sucks to go 90% through the development only to fall flat because the last 10% of the work wasn't done.

Pay more attention to the details, and people will flock to your game.

[English version at the bottom]

====================== English Version :
A nice little manic shooter that deserves to try to exist on our PCs.
The graphics are great (for a 2D game), catchy music, and this game is even relaxing in easy mode, this game becomes a real manic shooter hell that only pros of Dodonpachi can complete. Although a bit short (only 6 levels), the game offers an endless mode in three different levels. The game also lets you play with different graphics modes (and I found it very nice!): CGA, EGA, monochrome 8-bit Spectrum, Apple II, C64, Amiga HAM and many others ....
