“Sins of a Dark Age Early Access is here! Its already fun, very stable and has loads of content but we still have a lot of work to do. Want to provide feedback and influence our next objectives? Join up, open your Welcome Chest and enter the battle!

1. Why is our game in Early Access?
First, Sins of a Dark Age (Soada) has a number of incomplete features and experimental ideas that we would like a lot more feedback on. Second, Soada is a complex online game that needs a lot of testing in key areas such as server load capacity, game balance and matchmaking. Early Access allows us to get the volume we need to do this testing without overloading our systems.

2. How long do we plan to be in Early Access?
As long as necessary but we expect it to last months, not years.

3. What is the current state of the game?
Soada is still in development so there are bugs, incomplete features, placeholder assets, unoptimized code and balance issues. The Ai Heroes (aka Golems) are not very bright yet so they won't pose much of a challenge yet. Most importantly we have not been able to fully test our server load capacity which is one of our major reasons for entering the Early Access program. However, even in this state the game is stable, very fun, and has loads of content.

4. What content is missing or placeholder?
There are too many to list but some of the more obvious ones are:
  • Many icons are placeholder (esp Hero Gear).
  • Many Hero Skin paintings are missing.
  • Many sounds, music tracks and vocals not hooked up yet.
  • Lots of front-end and in-game user interface elements are not complete.
  • The Hero compendium is missing tons of data, especially the Lore and Tips in the Inspect Hero section.
  • There are missing Heroes and missing Hero Skins.
  • Lots more missing!

5. What content are we planning to add to the game?
In a nutshell almost every type of content in the game will be growing over time including lore, materials, recipes, Heroes, Hero Skins, Hear Gear, and Quests. But we also have a list of other content to add that we aren't ready to talk about yet. The list of upcoming features below hints at some of the new content.

6. What features are we planning to add to the game?
Listing all future features is an impossible task especially since we expect them to change in response to feedback and ideas from Early Access players. In that light I will only list the ones we have a reasonably high confidence in:
  • Pets
  • Hero Gear for specific Heroes
  • Hero Gear Sets
  • Recorded games
  • Spectator mode
  • Advanced Ping system
  • New Ai for Heroes (aka Golems)
  • More crafting options
  • Game History
  • Achievements
  • League/Ladder/Leaderboards
  • New Modes (e.g. cooperative)
  • New Maps and Environments
  • In-Game Friend Status
  • Additional Steam integration
  • Systems to improve player behavior

7. What is our pricing strategy during and after Early Access?
Early Access is priced at $4.99 but in appreciation of your support you will receive a reward worth far more than $4.99 (see the next question for details). Ultimately, Sins of a Dark Age will become a Steam Free to Play game but we felt it was necessary to gate Early Access for 3 main reasons:
  • To limit the load on our servers until they are fully tested.
  • To provide a solid new user experience.
  • To help ensure we get dedicated testers.

8. What do you get for joining Early Access?
  • You get immediate access to Sins of a Dark Age and you have a chance to influence its remaining development by providing feedback on the forums, participating in our public bug tracker on GitHub or by playing the game so we can collect valuable gameplay and performance data.
  • Every Early Access player will receive a Welcome Chest containing 1 of 3 bundles. In appreciation of your support we've include far more than $4.99 worth of content in each bundle.
  • You will find your Welcome Chest and Key in your inventory when you start the game. Click "Profile" from the top menu to locate the inventory tab. Once in the inventory, move your cursor over the Chest and click the yellow button to open it.
  • When you open your Welcome chest, 1 of the 3 bundles will be selected at random. Each bundle contains an equal value of content and has an equal chance of being selected.

Here is an explanation of what each bundle element means:

  • Skin: Skins are used to change the appearance of your Hero. In Soada you can either buy skins from the in-game Shop, find them in treasure chests, or craft them from collected materials.
  • Hero Gear: Hero Gear is one of the most valuable ways to customize your strategy before entering a match. Hero gear is never sold in the Shop and can only be found in treasure chests or crafted from materials.
  • Skin Recipe: Skin recipes are only found in loot drops or treasure chests. They are usually the most rare item required to craft a skin so they tend to be quite valuable.
  • Materials: These are only found in loot drops or treasure chests and are required to craft a variety of goods such as Hero Gear and Skins. Each Early Access bundle contains enough materials to complete roughly 25% of the included Skin recipe.

10. How can the Steam Community help us during our development process?
  • The best way to help is to play the game regularly as this provides us with valuable gameplay data, performance data and stresses our systems. Sometimes the worst bugs are the ones that are difficult to reproduce. The more matches that are played the better our chances of finding and fixing them.
  • If you would like to be more involved we have two in-game buttons that allow you to provide feedback, ideas and report problems.
  • The Forums button takes you directly to the official forums which we monitor frequently. Periodically, we will copy certain types of reports to the public bug tracker on GitHub to improve our organization and work flow.
  • The Official Bug Report button takes you directly to our public facing bug tracker on GitHub where any player can view, edit and add issues. This system is great for the community as they can see what is going on and its great for us because we get a lot of crowd sourced data on what bugs exist and under what conditions they may occur.

11. Where are the Early Access servers located?
  • Early Access servers are only located in North America but we will add more geographic regions as our testing requires. Europe will likely be next. Some players from Europe have reported that playing on the North American servers is acceptable but for some it is not. There is a known bug we are tracking that definitely affects players across the Atlantic (or with pings above a certain duration) that makes it even worse under certain conditions. We are working to correct this now.

Twitch Gifting!
Sins of a Dark Age Twitch streamers can now give gifts to viewers! Each official streamer will receive a special button that will randomly select a valid viewer and give them a Sins of a Dark Age gift. These may include crafting material bundles, recipes, or even a Hero Skin! The more viewers you have the better the reward. Once used, the gifting power will go on cooldown. We hope this will help tighten the relationship between streamer, viewer and Soada.

Sins of a Dark Age is an action strategy game from the creators of Sins of a Solar Empire. Explore your inventory, equip your Hero and enter a dark world full of decisive team battles, tide-turning quests, treasured rewards, crafted goods, and strategic trades.

Join fellow players to form a party that will ravage the enemy's army, execute their Heroes, siege their defenses and then raze their Keep to the ground. But that is the just the beginning of the adventure!



Choose Your Hero: The entire roster of Heroes will always be free - no grinding! Before heading into battle customize your strategic and visual preferences by equipping Hero Gear, allocating attribute points and choosing your favorite skin.

Battle the Enemy: Fight in a changing world and decimate your enemies with powerful abilities, glyphs and items. Revel in visceral combat brought to life with an immersive physics and animation system. Bodies will fly, flail, fall and flop as you wreak havoc across the battlefield!

Embark on Quests: Adapt your strategy as each adventure includes a series of tide-turning Quests. Early Access Review !

I played SoaDA this week a lot and I must say the game stands for himself in the MOBA genre.

MOBA Gameplay:
+ Several Quests to boost gameplay
+ Dynamic skills
+ Easy to play
- Heroes seems somehow unbalanced ( but don't forget is only the Early Access)

Internet Connection & Community:
+ Nice developers,on all the time and answering every question
- The community is at it's start an is little (100 players, 50+ on all time )
- Since the servers are in NA and I'm from EU , I have a tendency in having minor lag issues.

Greetings.
Firstly I'm glad for the opportunity to test the project in the early access.
On the right way; I really like the customization and crafting system, these systems show how difficult the task you have taken, it is innovation in MOBA games, as well as high-speed system quests during the match.
These are all part of the RPG and certainly meet with approval by many players.
Incredibly surprised me three-levels and two-ways of special skills and expand their choice during the game (it is by default, D, and F) - very positive.
I especially liked the collection loot after the end of the match is the most sensible addition.
In general, most of the network interface is transparent, look of skills is well.
The behavior of the creatures in the woods a bit stale, but the diversity adds flavor.
The Heros are very curious, each of them something stands, they have unique skills and character. The duration of day and night is indeed a revolutionary achievement, great respect.
Items are balanced, the character models are beautifully made, and the game itself makes a great pleasure.
However, I have a few comments:

1. The mini*map is not transparent, it is difficult to figure out. Character portraits are almost invisible, and the walls, obstacles and other elements of the forest are not properly extracted.

2. According to my subjective opinion initial access to all the heroes for free is wrong, it should be added the currency obtained through a game, for which you can buy Heros, and the possibility to buy them with real money, two steps for higher profits and better gameplay. From the point of view of the common player, which is the majority, the additional currency to fulfill the role of incentives for players who do not spend the money on start the game, but with time it changes and they begin to exist in the list of sponsors. I understand that at this stage of production is almost impossible to change it, but I had to write.

3. I'm not sure about, because I could have missed it, but you HAVE TO MAKE the Camera Lock, for players with a rectangular matrix. Such a lock provides much improved handling during the game but limited range of vision, the beholder, something for something. The only option is to disable Edge Scrolling, but then you still need to click on the map to move the camera. The hero should be centered in the middle of the camera.

I would like to make every effort to ensure that this game released in full glory.

SoaDA is an interesting take on the MOBA genre, bringing some familiar features which have been used in many other MOBA’s (such as League of Legends and DOTA 2) and some other revised features which give a different perspective on how a match in a MOBA is played.

The game adds its own interesting load out system that allows you to adjust the stats to a hero you wish to play and equip them with gear to give them a more unique feeling when played.

The game is still in beta and is rough around the edges, but it is still worth giving a good try.

so this is a pretty good game. I love the character and the art design. the community is small which is both a curse and a blessing. I will admit the biggest flaw that this game has is pretty long que times. but while waiting to que for your next game you get to chat it up with everybody including the devs, who are pretty great people :D. id recommend this to fellow dawngate players because most of us are in this game.

A good MOBA with unique features that makes it different.
Compared to Dota,it has quests that give your team a boost if completed,but if opposing team does it first,disadvantage to you instead. But if not by ethier side,its canceled,and you have to wait another one.
Its somewhat more casual as there's no gold lose on death.
It may be not for you if you are proffesional player,but for casual ones yes.
The community is currently small,but very nice.

PROS:
- Should appeal to all MOBA fans
- Similar gameplay to League (For the League fans)
- One of the more innovative MOBAs while retaining classic gameplay (<3<3<3)
- Lots of features and many more coming (Quests, unique 'gear', etc.)
- Fast loading
- Great dev. team (Always on, answering user needs)
- Crafting System, Recipes
- Decent Graphics
- Great community [ Haven't met toxic players, only the AFKs every now and then :( ]

CONS:
- Small community
- More frame drops than any other MOBAs I have played
- Evident champion imbalance (as with 99% of MOBAs)
- Somewhat expensiveskins (Although this is nullified by the fact that you can craft them)

Summary:
LoL game style with Tome mechanics. The gameplay is great- it's been my primary overall played game since the day I got it. The thing I like most about this game is it tries to be a lot more innovative than the other MOBAs (Steam inventory, hero inventory, in-game quests, dueling, crafting, primary/secondary queues) Could definitely use work and has a long road to go, also it's a small community- it's a lonely world :(.

This MOBA has been a fantastic play in my current experience. It is not one of those 'pay to win' games where money is a factor over skill. Yet despite the fun you will have in this game, it still has plenty of room for improvement- it's still early access and has great potential. Would recommend you to try it out- you might be playing the next big MOBA!

Sins of a Dark Age is a really fun new moba in early access beta stage at the moment. I made a long post that can be seen here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sjqd5b about why I like this game.
However for a TL;DR: This game has some great elements from other mobas that I enjoy as well as lots of fresh new elements i have never seen before such as a reward+crafting system, in game questing, heroes are all unlocked and totally free, integration with twitch.tv for streamers to chat with viewers through in game chat, and much more..
I'd highly suggest giving it a go! :)

It's a MOBA on steam for $5 that is in early access, but don't let that scare you.

The best way I can TL:DR the game, is it feels a mix between Smite, Dawngate, League and DOTA. Not in a bad way either. The map and items feel very DOTA, but the heroes/champions themselves feel very LoL. The Summoner Spell system, or "Glyphs," feel a bit between Dawngate and Smite, as you level them up mid-game rather than at character select, and they rank up into what you want to play as.

Most of the characters have pretty familar using abilities to other MOBAs, and the items aren't exactly carbon-copies, but still resemble items that are similar to League/DOTA. I.E. Hiro's Windblade gives you Damage and Attack speed, that has an active which gives you move speed and attack speed. (Similar to that of Youmuu's ghost blade.)

What really sets apart the gameplay, though, is periodically through the match, your team is given a quest that must be done within a time limit. The team that does this quest is given a bonus, where it be an urn that allows you to summon minions, or a team wide red buff effect.

There's a stat point system as you level up, similar to that of the Runes and Masteries of League that allow you to point in to different stats, (Damage, armor, pen, attack speed.) to help customize your hero out. Included in this is a really cool gear system, that you can equip to your characters for more bonus stats that you can unlock more as you play the game. All the skins that you can buy in the game are ALSO craftable, and tradable to other players!



The player base is a bit small, so there's only 50-60 people online at any time and the queue times are a bit long. (Roughly 15-20 minutes, sometimes.) and the matches themselves can last upward to an hour.

The other downside, is because of the player base being small, there is no pre-made system and the max party that can queue up vs Players, is 2. (Duo Queue, for all you techincal nerds.)


Overall, I think the game is pretty fun. The devs are pretty on top of things, and for $5 (Early Access) you can't go wrong. So hey, what are you waiting for? Come join us!

SoaDA is a fun time. Sure, I know it'll most likely get heat about "Oh it's just another League of Legends clone durrr." But it's much more than that. It's got very unique elements to it, such as being able to collect lore as a reward, and powering up heroes outside of game like an RPG-style game. It's very interesting, and I'm excited to see its community grow.

A good alternative to other MOBAs. Despite the long matchmaking times, it is worth waiting to at least try one game. I expect the game will do \well when its out of early access. Until then, I will continue playing other MOBAs.

An incredibly entertaining and well done MOBA. Any of the current characters can be OP if the person knows how to use them and the in-game quests put a fun spin on matches. Currently a solid lineup of characters catering to many play styles and a helpful, friendly community. The only draw back at this point would be longer que times, which will change, as this is Early Access. Without a doubt worth every penny. 9.0/10

Similar to Dota 2. Good in that aspect. However, it takes a while to get matched up with a game.
