I got into MOBAs rather late. When I did I got into them intensely. I went from DoTA2 to LoL, where I got to level 30 inside of a month. Then, when I tried this game, I stopped playing other MOBAs altogether.
Starting with the cons:
- Currently 18 heroes (more to be added);
- Currently 1 game mode (more to be added);
- Currently bot AI is primitive;
- Some times of the day have unfortunately long wait times;
- Balance not totally tweaked.
The last point seguays nicely into the pros, because unlike other MOBAs that seem to insist on having OP/imbalanced heroes around (the easymode heroes: not everyone agrees which they are, but everyone thinks some champions/heroes are); these champions (rhymes with Faster Yi, or Wizz) can pentakill with one button, turn untargetable every few seconds, and so on. These monster heroes run rampant in 90% of matches so long as there is the possibility, in the narrowest of build/playstyle guidelines, to counter them.
Sins of a Dark Age has made an effort to address these balance issues, rather than let these things fester!
The development team pays attention to suggestions and discussions, and take an active hand in building the community, not just the game behind the scenes.
The theme, while not entirely revealed yet, is already more cohesive and intriguing than some other options that dish out their homebrew versions of the same tropes.
Gameplay-wise there are other game modes in the works, though the details are not announced. And with the quest system added to the experience, is less repetitive than games with 100+ heroes and a meta set in stone.
In sum the only downsides I personally find with this game are tied to it not being released yet. I can't wait to see what the next heroes, maps, quests, items, loot, game modes, gear, skins are going to be!
