I don't understand why there are so many negative comments to the game. I've been playing Battle Nations on the IOS for nearly 2 years now and the game is still great! Sure, at times the game may feel like it's Pay To Win, but the game is still playable without Nanopods. Playing without Nanopods just adds to the difficulty, which in turn adds to the fun. The game is really fun in my opinion and I'm so happy to see the game finally in Steam!
The only complaint I have so far with the Steam version is that windowed mode isn't an option. Hopefully in the future there will be a patch to do that. Other than that though, the game is exactly like the IOS version, and is definitely a game you should get.
Edit: So it seems you can make it windowed by pressing the escape key and clicking on the button "Full Screen on Startup" Figured I'd add that as I've seen a lot of people wondering how to get it to full screen.
Edit 2: So many people have been saying that this game is so much like a Facebook game so why should it be on Steam. What exactly is so wrong with a "Facebook Game" being on Steam anyway? I admit, you're not gonna sit down for 6 hours at a time and play Battle Nations, but the game is actually fun. These people with not even an hour on the game and haven't played it on the IOS or any other device at all haven't really expirenced what Battle Nations really is. The game is slow until approx. level 20, where the battles get interesting and the selection of your units make a huge difference in a fight. With that, I again hope that everyone reading this will give Battle Nations a shot, even with all the harsh criticism coming from the opposition.
