Building on survivalist and horror themes, players in 7 Days to Die can scavenge the abandoned cities of the buildable and destructible voxel world for supplies or explore the wilderness to gather raw materials to build their own tools, weapons, traps, fortifications and shelters. In coming updates these features will be expanded upon with even more depth and a wider variety of choices to survive the increasing dangers of the world. Play alone or with friends, run your own server or join others.

7 Days to Die development was launched following a successful Kickstarter campaign in August 2013, demonstrating the initial prototype. Joining us in early access now will help support the cause and ensure continued expansion of the development team, their efforts and the planning and addition of even more features and depth eagerly awaited by fans.

Many of our fans have commented in these early stages that they feel we are building the survival\zombie game they have always wanted. Our goal is to live up to this as much as we can and build a customizable, moddable game that allows users to fine tune their survival and zombie experience to create the experience players and their friends want.



  • Random World Generation - Play Navezgane or roll the dice and dive back into the game with friends in a randomized world with huge cities, towns, rivers, lakes, mountains, valleys, roads and wilderness locations.
  • Create and Destroy - The world terrain, structures and items can be destroyed or scrapped for resources. Re-purpose collected materials to build custom structures and fortification by hand, placing building pieces into the world in real time.
  • Terrain Enhancement - The terrain is now both smooth and natural but can still be destroyed and mined.
  • Upgradable Fort Building - Player built structures are assembled from framework which can be upgraded supporting wood, scrap metal and cobblestone upgrade paths. Hammer away just like real building and use Land Claim blocks to protect your fort in PvP.
  • Structural Integrity - Buildings and terrain formations which are too unstable can fall apart if proper supports are not built. Some building materials are stronger than others and pieces which break off and fall can be dangerous or deadly if they fall on you or enemies.
  • Item Crafting & Degradation - With a continually growing list of over 250 recipes, gather resources such as plant fibers, wood and metal to create weapons and tools such as hand made crossbows, knives and hammers. As your tools wear out over time, use your crafting skills to repair them.
  • Plants and Animals - Locate seeds to plant and grow vegetables, and head out into the wilderness to hunt animals once the cabinets in abandoned buildings are already plundered.
  • Stealth System - Sneak past zombies who can see, hear and smell you and smelly items in your inventory and throw rocks to distract them.
  • Buff/Debuff System – Enjoy or deal with a multitude of buffs or debuffs like a caffeine buzz or a broken leg in our rapidly growing Buff/Debuff System.
  • Cooperative Mode - Tired of zombie apocalypses that are more about fighting humans than zombies? Team up with your friends to work with other survivors rather than against them, using group efforts to build settlements and safety.

Its really hard and scary in the beginning. All those growls, whispers in the wind and many other sounds that you hear the whole time. But you somehow get used to it and start to ignore them as the days go by.

Started alone in Navezgane on medium level. Was like a real hell. Died 7 times a day. I was really thinking about quitting this game.

Then started to play with a mate. You gotta learn from your mistakes and find ways to overcome obstacles - thats probably the best part of the game. Switched to harder level in about 7 real life days and after another 7 days we realized we need even more challenge. Dieing once in 7 days is no fun at all while sitting on tons of supplies...

Now playing on random generated map, 70 zombies and all furious and running the whole time, hordes unlimited (0 setting). Thats when you get the real taste of it!
Just like a first day in game - you can only survive for more than 3 hours on hills or in desert (thats where they cannot catch you if you use the setting that they are always running).
We managed to build a little tower on 3rd day and it was almost destroyed the same night.
No food except cactus and blueberries,.. Few bottles for tea... Have not found any metal tool yet... Scared to think about visiting a town or green zone...
Man, only now i come close to understand what zombie survival genre actually means :)

I thought I'd take a bit of time to review this game since it's occupied nearly 300 hours of my life!

I'm a huge survival fan... horror is a bonus, but the idea of being alone (with or without friends) on a barren wasteland looking for food and supplies to survive really appeals to me. I've tried a few of the genre out there but nothing else has a hold on me quite like this one.

I like to play aesthetically pleasing games, and while I have no unrealistic expectations when it comes to how a game looks or feels, this game delivers for me on all fronts. I've never played minecraft for example for the simplistic look it holds... missing out? expect so.. but nevertheless, its part of what I need to feel immersed.

So what's different about this game? Well it's covering a lot of ground, from finding food, to staying safe, building, farming and a whole host of other stuff to learn and explore. It has melee and projectile weapons which really appeals to me.. theres a time for stabbing zombies in the head, and a time to just blow them away!

I like the fact some things are really hard to find... useful tools and weapons that once found you guard and protect and that the mood of the game shifts significantly during the night phase.

I could go on and on to list everything I like about this game, and while it's still in alpha I'm loving every minute of it. Sure there are some bugs and glitches, but overall this is definitely an alpha I'm enjoying.

If you like survival zombie games with a focus on building resources, weapons and bases, then I really would recommend you give this one a try. The updates are regular enough for me and a strong sense of acheivement in each one as they bring more rewards into the game. I will definitely be sinking as much time into this as I did with Skyrim (800+ hours so far).

Great work deserves great support.. I highly recommend you buy this today!

My first time playing this game was one of the most enjoyable noobie experiences I've ever had, digging a hole in the side of a hill before nightfall and hiding inside, starving and hoping nothing would find me, seeing sunrise has never been such a relief. After some exploration and scavenging for food and water, I found a town, thinking this would be a good place to lay my bed and fortify a building to try and hold off anything that came for me at night.

What a mistake that was, a horde came for me and trashed my defenses, the few crossbow bolts I had managed to craft were consumed in no time, and I found myself in a backroom hacking through the roof trying to find an escape route, my friend below me yelling at me to hurry up as he desperately tried to repair the door that was being pounded on by zombies. "I see daylight, I've found a way out!" Our glimmer of hope ruined when I looked down to see my friend, looking up at me, with the floor beneath him almost completely destroyed and a horde of zombies under him, barely a block left to stand on. I told him not to look down, but naturally he did, what ensued was a genuinely fearful collaboration of curse words, desperation wouldn't be a fitting enough word to describe it.

Genuine adrenaline rushes and forever fearing for your life, this game has brung about a whole new meaning to the survival genre, being in a fortified position and crafting yourself a lot of ammunition simply won't cut it, you can play rambo for a short time but your resources will eventually diminish if you use them too recklessly and you will find yourself back to being starving and hiding away once again, you really need to think about how and when you're going to engage the zombies by choice, because when a feral horde comes for you, you won't have a choice, and you better be ready for when that happens.

Not only is this game a great thrill-ride and at times a genuine tester for your grey-matter, it is also a brilliant game to play with your friends and rewards co-operative gameplay. Sustaining yourself, by yourself, is indeed possible, but with friends you can assign eachother certain tasks, for example me and a buddy built a fortified bunker with a deep mineshaft underneath, he spent most of his days underground mining, creating ammunition and such, providing me with raw materials, while I worked on our surface defences and food supplies. Do-able alone but so much more efficient if planned with a friend, or a few friends is even better, unless you are the hardcore lone-wolf type.

I have yet to play on a "no rules/ PVP" server, I can imagine that adds whole new elements of fear-factor into the game, knowing that other survivors may just snipe you from a distance and steal your stuff, at their own discretion, or maybe they will help you, it's up to them, I may build the courage to try this someday, at the moment I'm happy enough just trying to survive waves of zombie hordes on a PVE server.

Overall this game is already almost a finished product in terms of crafting and survival aspects, there is the occasional annoying glitch/bug here and there as to be expected in a game at Alpha stage but I have found nothing game-breaking as of yet. To think that there is so much more to be added in terms of character customisation, experience points, more weaponry etc. is a very exciting thought indeed. I can see this game making a huge impact on release, it is genuinely brilliant fun.

Highly recommended, especially playing with friends!

Truly more satisfied with 7 Days to Die as time goes on. A rare thing for early access,
I have followed this game since early development. This game has came leaps and bounds above what it was before.
A true masterpiece in the "Sandbox" genre. Highly customizable difficulty keeps the game challenging when you become a veteran of 7DTD.
The development team really keeps their word on what they are going to implement. A rare thing in Early Access as I have come to learn. I've had fun playing this game for a long time now. Nearly 200 hrs logged ingame.
Truly the only Early Access game I feel more satisfied with as time went on. Thank you The Fun Pimps! You guys really do pimp out the fun! =)

Disclaimer: I am writing this from a casual gamer's point-of-view.

My initial reaction to 7 Days to Die (having bought it after Alpha 9.3 came out) was that it was a more realistic and terrifying version of Minecraft. I mean, it's not really like Minecraft, but in a sense it is? Let me put it this way, at least initially, surviving is quite a struggle compared to how simplistic it is in Minecraft. The zombies... are formidable; zombie dogs that are scary enough alone lead to heart-pounding panic in a pack - not to mention the fact that (on default settings) zombies RUN at you at night.

There are some weird glitches here and there with the zombies doing things that I'm fairly certain they shouldn't be doing (clipping through surfaces, bouncing up and down streetlights, once I managed to fall through the world and managed to see this zombie falling with me - I waved), but all in all, the zombies are a huge plus.

I'm a little bit bothered by the hunger mechanism in the game, but it's not a huge issue. I personally believe that for a very realistic game, it's very unrealistic that it takes around 30 pieces of raw corn to sate my hunger. 30 pieces of raw corn is probably around the size of my character's entire torso.

Next up would probably be the graphics. My laptop has a pretty decent graphics card (GTX 760M) so it doesn't really have much of a problem with FPS drops, but I've been told by several people that the new HD textures are causing quite a bit of issues for them. Maybe an option to toggle the texture quality would be nice? That aside, the textures look pretty darned good (to my untrained eye).

The crafting, inventory, and mining systems are pretty similar to those of Minecraft. You have a little grid on which to place materials, wait a certain amount of time, and voila an item is produced! The amount of recipes in the game are pretty diverse for an alpha stage game - yes, there are things that aren't available that I would like to be able to craft, but there is no real shortage of options. The inventory is pretty straightforward. Literally the same as in Minecraft (which actually isn't that bad). Mining is a bit more time consuming and a lot less diverse. There are just layers and layers of stone, some ore here or there (where are you tungsten? where?), and a severe lack of gravel compared to prior patches (please feed my concrete addiction). Mining is pretty monotonous. I try to have a movie playing on my other monitor while I hold down the mouse button. The whole "structural integrity" business doesn't really impact much. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand why anyone would attempt to build a random floating object. Zero-gravity fields are a bit too much to ask for on a post-apocolyptic Earth.

After securing a pretty decent base and renewable food and water sources, the game begins to be pretty repetitive. You build your base, you prepare for the big horde every 7 days, you kill the horde, you repair your base, you prepare for the big horde... I find that to be the biggest issue with singleplayer. I mean, exactly how many ways can you kill a horde until it starts to not be as interesting anymore? But, this is still alpha, and I believe that the amount of features out at the moment are pretty sufficient anyways.

The real selling point of this game? Multiplayer. Fighting zombies with friends, fighting enemies with your friends, fighting your friends because they got higher grades on their midterms compared to you. For a game that lacks an end game, a purpose (other than surviving, which honestly gets pretty easy after a while - unless you were masochistic and set all zombies to feral), or a storyline, 7 Days to Die is still pretty darned fun.

I shall review this game in a series of categories that all zombie games should have, namely:
Survival
Crafting
Character Skills
Building
Combat
Game customization
Multiplayer
Lag, Graphics, and all that.

1. Survival: 7 Days to die takes a very enjoyable path through surviving, you need to build structures, but you can't simply punch a tree to get the resources, so you have to scavenge before you can fortify, you need to stay well fed and hydrated to get anything done, which is really great, although the game does not incorporate things like anxiety and temperature yet. I hope they will, because those would be great. The Zombies can either be set to running all the time, only running at night, or not running at all, but despite the settings, you will eventually die. I once played a world where I disbled zombie spawning for a week, then set them to never run on the 8th day, and I died at 8:12 AM. I would give survival a 8/10.

2. Crafting: The game has an impressive crafting system, that you don't need a wiki for. You also can't simply create a house in the forest without gathering materials, to make a furnace you will need to either steal a pipe from another player, or loot one from a town. And to make glass jars, you will first need to find one to make a mold with. Unlike minecraft (Which too many parallels are drawn with), you need to find supplies to get better supplies, you can't just craft a gun out of iron ingots without a mold of the gun's components. Sometimes you will need to read a book you find to learn how to make something, (You can't make a wrench without a home repair book, etc. etc.) which makes the crafting feel so much more realistic. Crafting would get a 9/10

3. Character skills: These are kinda lacking in the game, as there is no current skill tree. Which I am slightly glad for. Most games seem to have a "When you kill X enemies, you can increase your knowledge, strength, agility, etc. Which will in turn increase your skills." Which is sorely un-realistic. A proper tree would involve doing an action to increase a skill, which would in turn increase your stats (Shooting a rifle increases your rifle skills, which boosts your marksmanship stat, Sneaking around zombies would increase your stealth skills, which in turn would increase your agility stat.) So if they do incorporate a skill system, I hope they do it that way. But for the current system, I would have to give a 0/10

4. Building: This is probably one of my favorite parts of this game, for it includes physics! You can't pull a minecraft and build a skybase, but if you do, you would need a ton of support beams holding it up. There is also weight in the game, if you stand on an unstable platform, or throw a heavy object onto one, it could collapse, potentially killing yourself and some zombies. I also really love the way you can use voxels to build houses, but the natural terrain will smooth out, making the hills and valleys look realistic. Building gets a well-deserved 10/10

5. Combat: This game has a decent combat system, with melee being your standard "Move in, click to hit, move out." technique, but the ranged combat is where things get a little funner. There is a stealth system, which allows zombies to see, smell, and hear you. Using a gun will make a lot of noise, which will attract more zombies, whereas a crossbow makes next to no noise whatsoever, allowing you to take out a zombie without attracting the horde. The zombies have a decent AI, nothing too special, but smart enough to sometimes avoid your pits-with-spikes traps you lay out. Using the physics in combat is truly enjoyable, (I really love putting explosives around the supports of structures and luring a horde inside, then shooting the explosives and crushing the zombies.) The only things that should be added to the combat would be improved melee, and the ability to make leaf-and-branch coverings over pits, making zombies less aware of them. Combat gets a 7/10

6. Game Customisation: You can either play on a prefabricated world, or a randomly generated world, you cannot create a custome world yet, but the devs have promised that. The amount of settings you can change on your world, however, is amazing. You can control everything from how long the days and nights are, how many airdrops you recieve, how fast you can open things, (Gun safes, cupboards, etc.) to how aggresive the zombies are, how much damage they deal, how long they will search for you if you sneak away, and even how many will spawn. Game Customisation gets a 7/10.

7. Multiplayer: I have not done much with this, but what I have done has been really enjoyable. I have gone on a server, talked to a guy, agreed to meet up, got sniped by his rival, respawned, locked out of a house, trapped in the open all night, found a city, met the guy, traded stuff, locked myself in his house, almost starved while he scavenged, found a gun in his house, teamed up with him, killed a horde of zombs, got bit, I told my friend, and so we started a search for some antibiotics to stop the infection, I almost turned, he killed me, took my things, and left me to respawn all on my own. The multiplayer is really great. The ability to friend people, making your house and coords visible to them, (And theirs to yours) seems to reduce the amount of betrayals, (You don't want to cross someone when they know where you sleep.) Making it a lot more enjoyable than other survival games like minecraft. Multiplayer gets a 8/10

8. Lag, Graphics and the like: The graphics are astounding, with beautifully rendered trees, disgusting zombies, smooth landscapes (The game was originally voxel based, so the smooth hills look beautiful) and amazing locations. It is all so realistic I greatly enjoy it. The game has detail, right down to the grass swaying in the wind. The only problem with this is that it creates an IMMENSE amount of lag. I can get good fps if I stay in a small location, or if I stay away from towns and forests, the ability to reduce video quality is also lacking, so if there was a setting that would cause trees and grass not to sway in the wind, as well as reduce particle effects, those of us who have wimpy computers would be able to enjoy the game so much more. Graphics and Lag get a 5/10 (5 For beautifulness, -5 For intense lag)

So all in all, I would give the game a 8/10 for epic zombie survivalness.

I've been looking for a realistic zombie game for a while now, and while this is not perfect (headshots don't always kill, very few improvised weapons, you can cure yourself, etc.) it's pretty close, and it's in Alpha anyways so it's subject to change.

It's pretty darned satisfying when a biter steps on one of your mines for the first time, and it's not to difficult to take out a few of them even starting out after you get the crossbow. It's also pretty cool to build up some deffences like sharp sticks and stuff and watch the bastrids kill themselves at night.

The learning curve is pretty steep though, so you may want to look at some videos or whatever before you start.

Starter tip: Make a stone ax (stick, from punching a bush; plant fiber, from punching grass and crafting it up; and a sharp stone, made from a small stone you can find on the ground). It's an ok starting weapon (though you may want to trade it in for an iron/spiked club when you get the chance), and you can use it to chop down trees and dig clay to make molds for ingots.

Bonus starter tip: Get a ranged weapon (a crossbow works) or make a good melee weapon (at least an iron club) before you barge into a house looking for loot. As a matter of fact, don't barge in. Wait for the zeds to come out and then snipe 'em.

Anyways, it's damned fun and *mostly* bugless as far as I can see. Worth the price too, but if you can't afford it then you could probably wait for a sale. Then you should deffinitely get it.

First off I would like to say this is a great game, and hope someday in the future when it is completed this game gets ported to the consoles. There is no game that I know of that has crafting, survival, zombies, multiplayer of this caliber. This game is gorgeous. From the moment the sun sets in game, to the moment the sun rises the game is awesome.
When I first tried the game, I was very skeptic, I was like great another zombie shooter game, boy was I wrong.

The amount of depth the game has at this early stage is pretty impressive. The Developers are always actively keeping us up-to-date on their progress and constantly showing pics of improvements coming to the game on their blog.

I'm currently playing on a public pvp server alpha 9.3. When you first go into the game, it is extremely overwhelming as the learning curve is steep. There is no tutorials so you basically would have to ask people online, or look at some YouTube, wiki, and do some trial and error to learn some of the games mechanics. First person shooter players will feel right at home here, as the controls are basic.

When you start your first game, you start out at virtually very little items. You quickly learn that zombies are all around you and you have a limited food supply. You quickly scrounge around in cars, trash bins for food and must collect items to craft basic items to help you with your survival.

The crafting menu is straight forward you start out with know recipes such as a stone axe. Crafting an items is simply as just clicking on what you want to craft from the list, drag the components to the grid and click craft. After a short time the item is crafted. As you progress in the game you will find more new books that unlock new recipes. You can create forges that smelt your mining ores such as iron, and you can create a campfire to cook eggs, and raw deer meat (yes you can kill bambi!). Sleeping bags and beds crafted are used to save home locations so when you die you can respawn at them. You can farm food to grow, such as potatoes or coffee beans.

The map is huge, plenty of room to roam around and explore or go underground and create secret underground bases by digging. Zombies are slow at day and fast at night, there cute and cuddly but enough to easily overwhelm any player base not properly prepared. You will die a lot in this game, from starvation, diseases and other craziness in the game.
So if you’re an explorer or builder type, this game has plenty at its development stage to keep you busy. I recommend playing with friends to enjoy the many "oh ♥♥♥♥" moments you’re going to have trying to survive against hordes of zombies.

What also makes this game unique is the importance of certain blocks in the game that form the many structures in the game such as buildings and farm houses. For example cement blocks have both a structural integrity that can withstand a lot of damage and has a threshold on the amount of blocks it can hold when used for building. Exceeding these capacities when building and not placing the proper foundation to support buildings can cause the whole building to collapse, pretty impressive from an engineering perspective. You can fortify buildings and upgrade doors windows etc., to withstand more damage.

There are many things planned for the game, such as in game vehicles, npc's, and story etc. This game is a good mixture of everything we love in mine craft, left for dead, and fallout games.

It is a great game and I highly recommend!

Let me start off and say this, I hate early access games! I tired multiple times to get into this game and HATED IT AT FIRST. That being said one night I decided to read a guide and see if maybe I didnt like the game because I didn't understand it. After that the game became pretty fun BUT when I convinced my friends to get the game THIS GAME BECAME LIKE CRACK.

+ In-depth building system (way more so than Minecraft)
+ Customizable Difficultly settings!
+ Huge map / Random gen map
+ Hard! (It gives you a reason to keep playing after day 5)
+ Fun Co-op!
+ AT ITS CURRENT STATE IS VERY PLAYABLE
+ Already so much and hopefully much more to be added!

CONS

- Graphics are a bit of a turn off
- Do not spawn with friends at start (but after you meet up you can set spawn with each other)
- Zombies can sound close but be far and vise versa
- Online has many "sketchy" players, needs better anti-cheat
- Needs more player customization
- NEEDS MORE FREQUENT UPDATES!
- with friends is addicting as fudge

To sum up think about it like this...

Did you like Minecraft/Garrys Mod? Its alot like that but harder and more realistic.
Do you like survival games? This game can be set to a hard ♥♥♥ difficulty, personally I like my games hard.
Do you have friends and like COOP games? This is definatly one of the better ones.
Are you going to ease up on the game and take it for what it is rather than what its not? Good, you should do that.
Got 25 bucks? Buy it. Easily worth it.

I recommend this game to any player who loves DayZ and Minecraft, basically two games joined together if not better, really addictive gameplay especially if you play Co-Op with someone, or just the multiplayer in general. Worth the price!!

AMAZING GAME! Only problem I had was the animals glitching on the water and turning in circles.... And the graphics of some parts of the game could use improvements. It is a little tricky at first and confusing but once you get a hold on it there is no stopping you! It has absolutely amazing crafting recipes and are very in depth. The developers have done an amazing job with the crafting system and im sure have more in store! 7 Days To Die is an amazing work in progress that i am sure will blow your mind away. 10/10 for me! :)

This game is awesome. I've played a lot of survival games out there, and this is by far the best one. Most survival games these days are released in an alpha or beta state, purchases during these periods go towards development of the game. This is money well spent. I have never played an "alpha" that was this well developed. It feels to me like a finished product. I'll be playing this one for a while.

An awesome zombie survival horror game that reminds me of unturned and Dayz with minecraft all together. Its better to play with friends. The shooting and looting runs well. If you have a mac DO NOT GET THIS GAME. Your computer might blow up.

I'm not a fan of the new zombie craze, however I don't really think of this as a zombie game -- its more like Minecraft 2.0 and its currently a LOT further along than Minecraft was in BETA let alone alpha.

Fun Pimps are doing an excellent job with this game and what they have planned seems to be even better. I honestly cannot wait to see this game jump from alpha to beta.

I would rate this game as 5/5 stars. Just about everything is covered here but like all alphas there are some cons.

PROS:
- Very well-built game for the maturity.
- Easy to loose most of your day in this game
- Highly immersive -- realistic engine needs
- The developers are responsive and listen to the communities input

CONS:
- Multiplayer is not a secure platform and is plauged by hackers and cheaters
- The developers can be a bit vague to when the next patch will be

This is an excellent game that will provide hours of fun. The creators of the game have kept up regular updates. I expect great things from 7 Days to Die when it comes out of Alpha.
