“7 Days to Die achieves exactly what it sets out to be. It’s a fun and intense post-apocalyptic sandbox with all the right mix of base-defense, scavenging, and exploration.”

“7 Days to Die is like Minecraft with Gravity. Building defenses with friends and huddling in the corner hoping no zombies get through can be great fun. But what keeps me coming back to the game is the TNT.”

“7 Days to Die looks genuinely impressive, and I can’t see this not making a huge impact when it arrives.”

Good game BUT.. I don't like the following formula being used by indie game devs:

-make part of a game
-sell it on steam as early access
-make enough cash to keep gradually updating
-delay development in order to make console versions of the unfinished game
-start selling multiple versions of an unfinished game
-continue to collect cash on the promise of one day actually delivering the product you're selling
-Not be held accountable for ever delivering or completing anything at all

Pro: It's pretty much the greatest open world zombie game ever made, honestly. If you like those Minecraft/Terraria games but wish they were set in a George Romero movie, then this is your game. In my opinion it's also way more fun than the current generation of zombie MMOs as well (I'm looking at you, H1Z1 and Day Z). So this is like the best of those two groups of games mashed together.

Con: The development team moves at an absolutely glacial pace. This game was kickstarted like 4 or 5 years ago, and it's still in "alpha" (even though it's been released for PS4 and Xbox One). The updates are few and far between, and glitches from almost half a decade ago are still present in its current (14.6? 14.7? I dunno) build. The devs made a really fun game, but they don't update it nearly enough. Five years of an alpha build is pretty laughable, and an example of why some people don't like early access. Maybe it will enter beta before I enter a retirement home.

If you can accept the game as it is, and deal with the fact that every now and then an update is gonna come out that makes you start over then I honestly can't reccomend it enough.

Devs would rather use the PC gaming community as a wallet to fund their console versions than finish the product we funded in the first place.

Let me clarify this review since so many people seem to think that the game itself is an excuse for poor and shady practices on the part of the developer and publisher:

7 Days To Die is a great early access game, as it stands now. However, development has already been rather slow, something that those of us who actually own the game have dealt with patiently. I know, it's EA. That isn't a "get out of jail free" card like many use it, but it does inform how harshly you judge bugs - which I have been very gentle with. I've paid for 9 copies of this game for family and friends. I like it a lot.

However, the recent announcement that they would be pursuing console versions before even making it to the beta version is ridiculous. If you lot are happy funding something that will slow down progress of the product you paid for, and has nearly always resulted in a poorer product (speaking of PC-only games vs. 'consolized' games) then that is rather confusing to me. Why do you want the publishers spreading limited resources around instead of focusing on finishing the product that provided the funding in the first place?

Furthermore, a great many of you seem incapable of reading. I know that the Fun Pimps are not the ones making the console port. If you guys honestly, truly believe that the console money came from nowhere, and the PC userbase that has provided almost the entirety of the funds that the Fun Pimps have isn't were the money came from, I have some of the most beautiful oceanfront property you've ever seen for sale in Kansas.

The community for this game is so toxic (and I didnt even mention the hacking problem the online has!) that I've had to lock my Steam profile to stop the annoyance of spam and harassing comments. I am now deleting any and all comments on this review.

7 Days to Die
This is the Sandbox set in postapocalyptic times. The game is set in the near future where nuclear war led to the destruction of humanity. However, it is only a small problem, because most of the population has been infected with a virus that kills within seven days, and turns them into zombies. In the game we create our hero that will be male or female. Creating a character is very well developed and immediately after creation, the game crosses us to map Navezgane or randomly created world. This production has been completely set in an open world that allows the destruction of all objects on the map. The big plus is a variety of locations to visit during the game, locations such as large cities, military bases, blocks and other types of buildings depending on the biome in which we find ourselves and there are several. Burnt forrest a place where there is not much to explore, the desert where at the day we're overheats and freezes at night, the forest place to build our sanctuary, having large amounts of food and very good access to water. Pine Forest is another very good place to survive like it is no different from ordinary forest that maybe the rain or even snow. Radioactive Contamination Zone, a place that shows borders of the map but also being in this place can be fatal for our hero. Plain, flat place with little amount of trees and animals that could make problems in survival for beginners. Snowy forrest, place for advanced players, intense cold can cause huge problems. Wasteland, a place similar to burnt forest so that it contains the huge city with a lot of loot, but also quite a few number of very aggressive zombies. As for the opponents, they differ in many ways, from usual zombie to a strong mutant. In the game you can also choose the difficulty level or set your own preferences. This production is quite a great title, single-player and multiplayer, create and develop your character from scratch, a huge world to explore and a lot of other things to do. The soundtrack is very good as well as graphically. In my opinion this is a very cool production and I had a lot of fun while playing this game. The game, however, is still in the early access, and some may not like it. But you can probably expect further updates.

I have fallen in love with this game. I like the skill tree for leveling. Its not nearly as grindy as rust is presently. Going solo is quite hard but can be done, But you can also play with your friends. You can adjust this game to anyskill level you prefer so it is always a challenge for you. It also has awsome building mechanics, I love the fact that you can dig underground to mine, build a base or a tunnel. You can upgrade your buildings to try and withstand the hoard. The hoard comes every seven days. They get harder every time. This gives this game its unique survival aspect. I would say that this game was a good buy for me. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I have.

This is my first time and possibly only time I will every write a review for a game. 7 Days to Die is my favorite game of all time. It has everything. Action, horror, FPS, crafting, a fully destructible world. The only feature lacking in the game is PVP which I am not a fan of anyways. It is very fun playing solo and even more fun playing co-op. The game is constantly being updated and the devs are very receptive to player input and regularly provide previews of upcoming update content. I think everyone should give this game a real chance. I admit I am a fan boy. But if you play this game for a few hours at least, I promise you will also become a fan boy too. I bought it a couple years ago during a summer sale. Best $12 I have ever spent. Let's support this game and genre. Go buy it. See ya in the apocalypse!

My first experince with 7DTD.

I spawned in, a guy gave me some OP stuff and met a fellow noob. I said my farewell with the nice guy and proceeded to meet up with the fellow noob. I finally got to him then the other players told us that it was horde night so we dug a hole and hid underground. He got hot and sweaty, I got hot and sweaty, so we took our clothes off whilst hiding from zombies above us. We spent the night next to each other in our undies and once it hit day time, we broke our two wooden frame barriers and YOLO'd it. We saw 1 zombie that was actually the only one patrolling around us all night. We decided to kill it since we out numbered him. I pulled out my gun (now armored) and proceeded to kill him. Bullets didnt phase him. The game bugged out my newly made friend died, and I got smacked from 5 feet away. One zombie killed the both of us and one of us was armed. $25 Well spent. 10/10 Would get naked with another guy and die on the first day again.

P.s. If you played this on console and are considering getting this for PC. I highly reccomend it. There are MUCH more players than on the console version. Plus there are dedicated servers. So no more pesky getting kicked out of games when the host quits.

tl;dr: 5 years of alpha, cash-grab on console version, no news on PC development been for almost 5 months now. Bug-ridden with melt-your-hardware levels of terrible performance. Yet still genuinely a very fun game.

Progress has been painfully slow (5 years or thereabouts, and not even in Beta). After the console release (seriously, releasing an alpha version as a finished game?), this has only gotten worse.

"Hey Survivalist,
We know your wanting Alpha 15 but it’s still some weeks out so in the meantime here is a great new alpha 14.7 stable build with many highly requested bug fixes and a new launcher which could help folks with 32 bit problems."

Posted 20th June. It's now the end of September. There was a time when news updates were posted every couple of weeks, which, again, is something that happened _before_ the console release.

I love this game, I really do. It's a super-fun game, even taking the _vast_ number of game-breaking bugs, crashes, awful performance, and questionable graphics into account. And don't even get me started on attempting to play private multiplayer on anything under a 100mbps connection / dedicated server (I kid you not: you will end up getting LITERALLY several in-game days of lag).

But releasing a console version and then magically the PC development crawls to an absolute standstill? Come on, guys. You used to be better than that.

The price does not match the updates and progress, I have owned the game and see that the latest update said that the devs would release the next update some weeks away, correct me if I am wrong but some weeks does not mean more than 3 months, very pricy for EA game that the devs seem to lost interest in working on, Devs, correct me by sending more bug fixing updates, even small pick me ups for updates would work as long as you want this game still funded, 10/10 when bought it, now I feel its 3/10 due to the problems not fixed

This game has been in Early Access for at least 3 years and still rubbish, they hide behind the fact it's early access to get away with such a terrible game.

Great original concept for a game, but just plays like a piece of faeces. Seriously these programmers must be borderline ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, how can you keep this game so outdated, it's rarely updated and any updates that do come out literally do nothing for the gameplay. (oh sorry, SKILLPOINTS are gameplay...)

They need to change the gameplay/mechanics, the game feels like I'm playing a $2 game from steam, seriously.
it's crappy, slow, laggy.

The audio for zombies are inconsistant , I've been snuk up on too many times becasue the audio isn't good. of course I could lower the difficulty but that's not fun now is it...

The premise of this game results in a great co-op, team player event. While the game can be soloed the real fun comes when you play with a group of friends. The mini server approach means you can have your own server and allow PVP between a group of players that you trust to not try to ruin the game for others. Or you can have your small group play PVE and try to survive in a world gone mad.

The game is a blast, find a group and have some fun.

Just bought this a couple of days ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. The game mechanics all work - and survival is challenging but rewarding. Well worth the money!

There does seem to be a problem with the game forum though - it is impossible to register as whatever you do the registration process thinks you are a spam bot - despite filling in the anti bot section. Still it's a minor thing - the game itself is very good indeed.
