'Another zombie survival game' - you.
7 days to die is a zombie survival game. Maybe it isn't fair to review this game seeing as (at the time of writing) it is in 9.2 Alpha version. But seeing as this review is mostly positive, it should be alright.
There's a few things about this game I'd like to talk about:
Pros and Cons overall.
7DTD is a sandbox game. At the start of the game, you get dropped at a random place in the world. This can be one of four locations:
From there it is totally up to the player to decide what they want to do. To keep survivng the player will need atleast food and water. Shelter is optional but highly recommanded, seeing as zombies get stronger at night.
As player you need food and water to survive. You can also get infected, or get diseases like diarrhea. Ofcourse those things can be cured by things you find while scavenging.
In my personal opinions, the graphics aren't terrible, but they could be better. To be honest, for the graphics it has, it should be easier to run. Even on a high end pc it sometimes has lagspikes or crashes, wether this is because it's still in Alpha or not I don't know. Either way, don't excpect anything fancy.
Crafting is pretty big, most things you see outside can be destroyed and used for crafting. You can chop down trees, or chop down entire buildings and make them collapse. The remains can be picked up en used again for crafting.
Bushes, rocks, and grass are things that are mostly used in crafting, espescially at first, when the player is getting started. Later wood and stone become very important, for building a base.
Later, guns and armour can be crafted, But those require molds and blueprints
There's also a farming system, but I'm not a big fan of that. Just like real life the plants need time and sunlight to grow, but it just takes too long.
There's multiple version of zombies. Zombies are both called 'zombies' or 'walkers'
A few examples that you're going to see a lot are:
Bloated zombie: A fat zombie, does more damage, and takes more damage. Drops better loot as well.
Nurse zombie: A normal zombie, except she has more chance to drop medical items.
Zombie dog: Probably the most annoying type of zombie. Fast and does a lot of damage.
Snow zombies: Zombies that live in the snowy mountains. They are all a tougher than normal zombies.
Police officer zombies: They're like blaoted walkers, except they also have a ranged puke attack.
Unfortunatly, multiplayer doesn't really offer anything new. It's just a second you running around in the world, except he isn't controlled by you. You can track other players.
Also unfortunate is that you have to rent a server to play with others, but if you know how to 'port forward' you can host a server without charges. More info for that go here:http://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/Server#Port_forwarding
Pros and cons:
- Fun to play
- Good crafting system
- Building is well done
- More fun to play with others
- Once you've set up a stable base, which includes food, water, and protection, the game can get stale.
- Have to rent servers
- Game has lagspikes and sometimes randomly crashes
Overal I'd rate this game a 7.5/10, and it's still in Alpha mode.
