About This Game

TowerFall Ascension is the definitive version of the hit archery combat game. Inspired by classics from the golden age of couch multiplayer, it's a 4-player local party game centering around hilarious, intense versus matches. The core mechanics are simple and accessible, but hard to master and combat is fierce. Loot treasure chests for game-changing power-ups, master the art of catching arrows out of the air, or descend on your foes and stomp them into submission. TowerFall is best played competitively with friends, cross-legged on the floor within punching distance of each other.

New in Ascension is the 1- or 2-player co-op Quest mode. Players work together, fighting off a variety of monsters and enemy archers across the land of TowerFall. It's a new adventure to explore when you don't have more friends handy to square off against.

New features in TowerFall Ascension include:
  • Brand new 1- or 2-player co-op Quest mode
  • 50 additional Versus arenas, for a total of 120 unique maps
  • More game-changing power-ups, such as Drill Arrows that burrow through walls
  • 4 new unlockable, playable archers, for a total of 8
  • A huge list of variants to customize your matches - a total of 75 ways to mix things up
  • Plenty of hidden secrets and surprises to discover with your friends

Towerfall is a very interesting game, the mechanics are hard to get used to, but once you practice enough, its extremely fun. Controls are great and intuitive, graphics are nice and easily differentiated.

The flow of the game is mainly dictated by who can use the level to their advantage, dodging and jumping around. Sometimes you may get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off at your friend's lucky dash that picks up all your arrows, or just running for your life from your friend who just picked up all the chests on the map.

I, at first, thought that his was going to be one of these "play once and forget" type of games. But no, there's an entire story/quest mode, play alone or with your friends, still a lot of fun. There's trials when you want to test your speed and there's vs. mode that's also incredibly fun with friends. When you have the DLC (that I think is a tad expensive) you can also desing your own levels. There's always room for improvement, you think you've mastered shooting arrows? Think again.

The sound and graphics are also awesome. Music, even if you try to beat a level to get the golden skull never gets dull and is really well made. Animations and other effects do not clutter the game but only enhance.

It also runs well on low-end PCs and very well on Linux.

2D pixel art screenwrap deathmatch with precision archery and jumpdashing

Towerfall is a wonderful local co-op and multiplayer game. There is a singleplayer mode, but the game is very obviously focused on couch co-op and versus matches. I've been playing this on the Steambox in my living room for a little over a year now and it is probably the most-played game on that system. The mechanics are easy to learn but difficult to master, with tons of replay value and several unlockable characters and stages. Stylish and polished, with a great soundtrack to boot.

10/10, cannot recommend this game enough

It's an OK game, but I feel like all you have to do is memorise the monter spawn/movement patterns in a level in order to be successful. And you do so by doing the same level over and over with the same pattern each time until you score. PvP on the other hand is great fun.

This game is very very fun with friends, but not so much alone. It's very challenging and easy to get used to! I'd definitely recommend using a controller if you're looking to have a quicker readtion time towards each challenge but then again that's just my opinion.

If you're looking for a fun, Local Co-op, game to kill time, rage quit, and have fun while doing so, this is definitely the game for you!

Hell yeah! This is a FUNtastic game to play with friends, versus and co-op.
If I have to say bad things about it, I'd say the campaign is a bit short, and the lack of online sucks. But if you have friends or family around, this is THE GAME!

Jogo fabloso pra se jogar com amigos no vs e no co-op.
Os defeitos são poucos: campanha curta e falta de suporte pro online.
Se tiver com quem jogar em casa - vai na fé que esse é ♥♥♥♥!

This is an amazing technical game. The concept is very simple: you're in a square room, with several platforms, and your goal is simply to jump around and kill monsters. That's it. Sounds easy? It's not! It requires a lot of control over where you fall, where and when to shoot, and some small other techniques to keep you alive, and your oponents dead. While I've only played alone, this feels like a really solid local coop experience. Grab a few friends and let the arrows fly!

This is my favorite couch co-op game in my library. The game is fast, frantic, and new players can learn in about 2 minutes. It offers enough veriety in maps and game modes and enough skill in the combat/platforming to avoid getting stale for a good long time. If I have one complaint it's the lack of online multiplayer, but then again the local experience is superb.

It's a fun game, but £10.99 is too much for a game that does no support online play that really should.

I didn't buy it at 10.99 and I do have more hours than my play time suggests, it's a good game but not without issue (lack of content, no online play)

Graphics are nice, controls handle well, if a little tricky at first. If you can get it in a sale or love party games, then I'd recommend.
