About This Game

The new reference in RTS at its best!

The Wargame series returns to duty, larger, richer and more spectacular than ever before. In Wargame Red Dragon, you are engaged in a large-scale conflict where Western forces clash against the Communist bloc.

1991: the two blocs confront each other in a new theater of war, Asia, joined by various other countries: Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

You command the military resources of all 17 nations involved, assembling your fighting force from a phenomenal selection of 1,450 units that have been meticulously reproduced from their source! Command tanks, planes, helicopters, new warships and amphibious units in intense battles of unequaled tactical depth. Master the relief of varied, ultra realistic battlefields, dominate the new maritime areas and rewrite history in a conflict that has been directed and designed in stunning detail by development studio Eugen Systems.

Wargame Red Dragon is thrilling in single-player mode with its new dynamic campaign system, and also offers an extensive multiplayer mode where up to 20 players can compete against each other simultaneously.

Best strategy game ever made. Nothing even comes close to how good this game is in scale, control scheme, realism, and thoughtful gameplay.

Playing this game should be a mandatory part of high school education. It illustrates in no uncertain terms just how important it is to perserve the peace in the world. When you see squads of infantry with names and faces getting turned into minced meat by 203mm artillery because you ordered them to hold a town at all costs... ... That will make you think twice about voting for stupid politicians and supporting militarist and nationalist policies.

Don't get this game for the naval units, get this game because it's Wargame: Airland Battle with more factions, units, maps and stuff. 10/10 Haven't played much because none of my friends have it...

So as of writing I've played this game almost 1200H, so I know what I'm talking about.

Learning curve:
There is a significant learning curve and it will take a bit of time to get good at this game. First you might think that buying lots of tanks and spamming them in a frontal attack onto the enemy is a good idea, later realizing you didn't account for the enemy having larger firing range on their tank's guns. Also since they where defending they probably also where hidden in the terrain or otherwise taking advantage of it. This is something you will learn, by doing these tactical mistakes. Hell I've made lots of them. Learning the reasons why you made the mistakes can usually be found out fairly intuitively or easily. For example, you can take note of the tank model your enemy used when you charged at him/her, then look up the specs of that tank compared to yours.

Play style & Team play:
There are many ways to win a match. Usually you have an limited amount of currency to buy stuff with and you have to go strong on Anti-Air capability, but weaker on Infantry support or similar. If your opponent then goes with Armored offensive capability and you gambled he would not do so, then you might lose the game because you can't negate his strengths or exploit his weakness. This becomes much more complicated in big 10vs10 matches, where teamwork will be absolute key, instead of points of a individual player. All this, allows you to develop play styles that fits you and your strategic & tactical thinking best. I like to play with motorized decks, since they provide usually enough of everything, while providing benefits in areas where I'm good at and allows me the most flexibility when adapting to changes in the battle situation.

One important factor in team play is marking the zones that you are going to be responsible for, so you signal to your teammates that they should go somewhere else. This way you avoid critical game starting mistakes, like leaving a zone or flank open, from where the enemy can pour in and attack you in the back. There are still MANY experienced players that haven't understood this fact, a good team however can cope with this fast and neutralize the threat, but 90+% of the times this is not the case.

In my opinion the best game that Eugen has come out with. Very real ...brutal at times taking you lots of time to figure out how the game works. Worth it 100% though if you stick with it! =)

If you pick up a wargame, pick up this one.
The community is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, there's a lot of Neo-Nazis, and... Unique? People. ( http://i.imgur.com/EoLosJ2.jpg )
Sometimes the gameplay can be a bit ♥♥♥♥, I usually play REDFOR, but I know people who play BLUFOR (especially against AI) get a lot of spam. In real life Soviet doctrines usually were based around overwhelming force but not really like in this game.
It's a fun game, but it can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. And even though it's a tag, it's not very realistic.

This is a most have RTS game. Gameplay is amazing with both good single player and multiplayer experiences. The best part is this game is released for Linux, so if you miss playing proper RTS games look no further. The Wargame series has given me more enjoyment over the past few years than any other game. Well done Eugen Systems keep them coming and keep support Linux.

All fans of strategies are advised to play this game. It will not be boring to play at least 2 people. Also in the game can be slightly fun. So as the game has a lot of countries, as well as a bunch of military equipment that is, and maybe even now stands in military ranks. And in this game, unlike its challengers have ships, so all the advice.

Great game and game series, very fun and arcade like yet challenging and fun. I think what most people will enjoy is just fighting the AI as the AI is much stronger than one would expect. In other game's their used to be, "Dummies," and help train and teach you, while this games AI can do that it also is smarter and more challenging than all other AI i've come across.

Its a good game I recommend it. However 1. Don't buy this for naval combat it is complete crap(Example a Kongo can't shoot ♥♥♥♥ at point blank range and Anti Ship Missiles are king literally 3 small river boats or any small boats will destroy a battle ship) and 2. Fair warning now the Chat is one of those where ♥♥♥♥ can get crazy and go either way. Its fun and good in my case about the chat but will probably ♥♥♥♥ off some. Now to the game. Eugen did the game well and while there are some problems. I believe they are still working on those said problems the community points out and are currently deciding to release more faction DLC in this game which is quite nice. Of course this game is not fully realistic as some might expect and it has a lot of arcadey elements but it is very good at being an all out war game on a grand scale.
