Let me put it as simple as possible for the people torn between FIFA and PES:

-If you want an extremely realistic game experience, PES 2014 is probably for you.
-If you want to edit players, teams, leagues, and more, PES 2014 is probably for you.
-If you want the option to perform tons of advanced moves, PES 2014 is probably for you.

-If you want an extremely amazing multiplayer experience, FIFA 14 is probably for you.
-If you want every major team and league on the planet available to play, fully licensed, FIFA 14 is probably for you.
-If you want a game that is super easy to play and learn, FIFA 14 is probably for you.

PES 2014 is for me. YOU get to decide what's for you, but my list above is made to aid you in making that decision.

As much as I tried to like this game, I just cannot.

First of all, the movement of the players feels robotic. It doesn't feel smooth and it is very annoying to me.

The commentary has incredible changes in mood. He is very happy about the game, but then he mentions the names of the players like if he was depressed.

There still are no secondary leagues. I'd like to have a little more, at least in the major leagues.

The most frustrating part, however, is that the matches feel like they have already been chosen. I mean, come on...we already have real life FIFA for that, we don't need it in game too.
Some matches are stupid easy, others are hard as ♥♥♥♥, especially because your teammates fall asleep and look at the ball, or miss a goal from 5 meters even if you barely even clicked the shoot button. A lot of times I want to pass to a guy and it will pass to the completely opposite direction.
You know when you HAVE to loose a game when a guy scores a bycicle kick with a cross from the goalkeeper. Sure, maybe that's exaggeration, but seriously, at times the enemies have nitro and, even if it is a crappy team, they suddendly, for 2 minutes, play better than Barcelona until they score.

It is also incredibly fun when you slide at a player from behind and it's not a faul, but it is a yellow card (the commentary suggests red) if you get the ball with pressing.

As much as I don't like EA, if you really want to go for a football (or soccer) video game, go for FIFA 14. This one is worse.

I went into PES as a FIFA fan. But as this game seemed so realistic, I gave it a try. And it was amazing. I would recommend this
More than FIFA. 9/10

If you actually want to PLAY the game, you need an Xbox 360 controller, but if your only here for the ♥♥♥-load of customization and the game simulation to entertain yourself on a rainy day then you can just use a keyboard and mouse.

I assume you can still play with a keyboard and mouse, but really, who wants to do that?

Also the FOX engine is very pretty.

I have always been a pes fan and purchased this game on day of release for the xbox 360. However i was sorely disapointed with player faces (majority) incomplete. Gameplay however is as good as ever. So once i re-purchased this game 4-5 months later i was delighted to witness that konami had pulled their finger out!! Hopefully their next release will be a complete game that is fully operational and how it should be!! Overall gameplay and how the gamestate is now i will happily give this game 9/10 !!!!!

If, like me you prefere a sim heavy, tactically packed game and your not concerned with up to date teams and kits, then this is perfect game for local and online footy fans. There is a a layer of depth to this title that Fifa cannot match. It loses out in the presentaion stakes but pound for pound beats EA's cash cow hands down. Highly recommended.

It is a good game. The engine is nice. They tried to make it more like FIFA, and they succeeded. If you like FIFA, you will like this game. However, if you're a long time PES player like me, and are looking to play a good old PES match, you can still disable the new stuff in the options menu.

If you decide to buy this game, you will probaly want to use a handheld controller. Here is a link to how to setup a Playerstation 3 controller on Windows 8 (other operating systems installation descriptions are available aswell). However, it should be noted, this game seems to be setup for the Xbox and Xbox controllers, so you will have difficulty figuring out the control options, as it is all for the Xbox controller.

I haven't played much of the game yet, but other than the fact that the game hasn't been made primarily for PC (you have to go to some settings outside of the game in the Data directory folder for Steam), it seems to be a decent soccer game, and I am having a ball (no pun intended), having a lot of fun. I am playing the 'legend' option right now where you play as just one player, and this is new to me, lot of enjoyment - got a big smile on my face. One thing that is wierd though is that the computer difficulty doesn't make sense. In that I am playing in 'legend' mode, on Amateur difficulty, and my team always dominates the other team - even when even matched teams, you can end up with a score of 10-0.
I tried playing in Professional difficulty and I didn't notice this, I don't think.. I would have to test it out more, and I dont know if this is universal for all game modes, but it is a little bothersome when you want to play a lower difficulty and your team continuously destroys all the other teams.
(EDIT: I think it has to do something with longer period games, even on Regular.. if the game is set to 25 min or over, your team seems to dominate an equally skilled team, possibly a bug)

Also, the game uses some real teams (some renamed) and some fictional leagues. I find that these fictional teams and leagues are quite nice, and add an immersive aspect to the PES world. Some people may find them lesser to real world league names etc at first, however, I think this will grow on people if they give it a chance. There are tons of teams and leagues. PES also has some history and backstory to these leagues and teams on the PES wiki page.

There are also other things which aren't great. For example, changing video settings, audio, and controller options all has to be done outside of game in the Data directory where the game is installed on your computer, which shows that this game is definetely not a PC game. But regardless, it still works...

Anyways - the links, if you need them..

PS3 conytroller for windows 8 64/32 bit http://www.hardcoreware.net/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-in-windows-8/

Ps3 Controller for Windows 7 and vista 64/32 bit http://www.hardcoreware.net/how-to-playstation-3-controller-64-bit-windows-7-vista/

The second link should include the 32 bit files, if you are using 32bit operating system for Windows 7 or Vista. I haven't used the second link obviously, because I am using Windows 8, so I can't comment on it, but my controller is working great after I followed the instructions for mine.

Also the first link should include 32 bit version of the files necessary. GL

A viable alternative to the huge Fifa franchise. PES has always felt freer in the player movements and more open possibilities when it comes to spectacular shots/goals. This edition is more of the same from PES.

It is nice to see actual player names as opposed to the last PES game I played when they were generated.

1 down side I find compared to Fifa is that it seems more difficult to get the flair controls sussed out. I only have 8 hours played right now, but I've only just found the control to even take the ball under more control and start to do step overs, flips and what have you... mastering those is a different challenge altogether. Whereas I found Fifa more forthcoming with the basics.

On the easier difficulties this game may frustrate you as the defence just backs off the attackers until they've pretty much walked the ball into the net. That gets less the higher difficulty you go.

PES now also has a player career mode that I first saw in Fifa 09 I think, maybe 11. I prefer FIfas though, there's more feedback. FIrstly during the game you see your rating and see it increasing/decreasing as you play. You get feedback from your manager every couple of games and your ranking within the squad changes as you put in good or bad performances. PES has none of that. The player career type mode is fundamental and basic. Still enjoyable though.

PES management mode is very good though. It's simplistic in a sense but that makes it easy to manage and navigate, and get to the bit I play the game for... actual matches. Let's face it, if I wanted a full on football manager I'd go play Football Manager (which of course I do.. but when I play PES I want to control the games).

So overall a good, light hearted, easy to play yet hard to master football game. A simpler, more open/free flowing affair to Fifa.

Far better then FIFA... PES is only a slave to itself, as it tries so ambitiously to teeter on the verge of becoming the ultimate futbol simulation/experience. It has yet to get their in terms of game play, given its ambitious attempts this year, but it is most definitely closer/more engaging to the genuine experience vs. its close competitor, EA Fifa 2014.

If PES can polish up what it is trying to do in terms of game play mechanics, it will be on to something special... BE WARNED: You will have a horrible experience if you expect to have a fully surreal arcade, pick-up-and-play experience... PES takes practice, and you won't win without the proper strategy because this dictates your players positioning and overall intent... With new management in place to take over the realm of the PES series as of this year, it's exciting to see what more is in store. I give PES 2014 a B+

Worst soccer game ever! i've played PES before and this is nothing like the old games

they forgot footy rules... for example I get fouls when I get a player to stretch to kick a ball (my guy hits ball first) and their player falls over me after the ball has left the play, so it cancels my goal (happend more than a few times) or my clear attempt and they get a penalty kick against me like WTF??? Not once have I seen this in professional soccer games not sure what crack they were smoking when they made the engine algorthim that decides fouls (fifa is better in this regard)
the AI(both my own or the oppenent) is dumber than FIFA in regards to that it stands in offside more often(I mean in situations were it isnt even reasonable for them to be in offside) then not (old PES games had a much smarter AI)
and lack of licening makes it horrible for immersing into teams (all PES games suffer from this although this makes me ask why in the world the game costs so much money)
the physics of this game is nothing special at all older PES games had better honestly I think PES is dead if this their trend
the graphics are out dated as well again nothing special at all, including the messed up invisible ball glitch or black screen while the gamecontinues just aweful
Last PES game I will buy!

The gameplay mechanics on field are quite good, after a few hours you'll be clearly capable of executing some nice attacks and goals. However the presentation is quite weak, many basic configuration options are missing and the gameplay mechanics off-field are a joke and feel more like punishment.

Technically it suffers from texture problems, while players look stunning when very close to the camera, player details can look very ugly when just a little bit further away.
