About This Game

A fly ascends to the skies, pondering the pointlessness of its brief existence.
The Plan was developed as a side project by Krillbite Studio, who's currently finishing their main project Among the Sleep.

  • "Hey, You Should Play This"
    - Patrick Klepek, Giantbomb
  • "Some may argue that The Plan isn't really a game and it definitely occupies the same terrain as Journey, Passage, and Dear Esther, but it's shorter than Journey, prettier than Passage, and less overwrought than Dear Esther, making it well worth taking a punt on for the low price of free."
    - Jeffrey Matulef, Eurogamer
  • "It’s that space in the mechanics for thought and interpretation that I appreciate most here. The Plan won’t break your brain, but it’s a nicely contemplative journey."
    - Nathan Grayson, RockPaperShotgun
  • "In order, here are the emotions I experienced during the three minutes it took me to play The Plan, the new free morsel from the Norweigan indie developer Krillbite: confusion, frustration, boredom, fear, amusement, delight, joy, enchantment, and regret. One of the things independent games ask us to do is accept that a three-minute game can be as valid as a thirty-hour one. Games like these make it hard to disagree."
    - Joseph Bernstein, Buzzfeed
  • "Krillbite Studio, the developers behind Among The Sleep, have gone on and released a most polished, visually stunning and freeware new game"
    - Konstantinos Dimopoulos, Indiegames.com
  • "Krillbite's The Plan is a short, sharp experimental deliberation on the meaning of life."
    - Andy Chalk, The Escapist

An extremely thought provoking game. The game gives the player a moment of relaxation and contemplation that isn't often found in a lot of settings.

free, small and very short (5 minutes?)

Looks nice, sound and music is good, but for me personally it was a waste of time.
I would only recommend it if you want to relax or need a reason to think about life for a few minutes, since there is nothing to do basically.

You fly upwards for 5 minutes, avoiding a breeze of wind and falling leafes a cople of times. And then you die.
There is a meaning present, but not much.
This isn't really a game, more like a demo.

Do you expect me to thumb up this, just because it's free freeware?
who cares - the game comes first. And this is what I'm rating here.

It's simply not worth the download and the time spent, just like the "mountain" (although it's definitely better than that "game").
Just go ahead if bored / curious. The "game" is about 5 minutes long.

The Plan
Being Free-To-Play and taking up very few megabytes on your HDD, "The Plan" probably is a game to be played within 10 minutes.

What's it all about
Though being so short-lived and simple to play, the game certainly contains a secret message which you have to find out.
My interpretation is, that this game simply shows how life is and can be planned. There is just one way to finish life: the death. On the way to finish your life, there is just one way forward leading to death /which, surprise, is the lamp -- of which our little fly burns to death/.
I spoiler'd my thoughts because you should think for yourself. But maybe my thoughts let you begin to think about the game... who knows :-)

In a nutshell
"The Plan" is simplicity and philosophy about life put together into one game.
Fascinating and scary, both at one time -- once you get behind the initial idea of the game. But what is the initial idea? Go find it our yourself.

The Plan is a game that made me feel for flies. For flies.
How did it accomplish it?
Well, the game has nice visuals, an interesting concept and good controls. It's a different viewpoint compared to ours, and it's very interesting to see it.
But, that's not it. That's not the reason why I felt bad for the fly. And when I thought about it for a moment, I understood. It was the music. The music is great, coupled with the sound of the fly itself, this game has truly hit its mark and it'll stay in my memory for a long time.

Overall
7/10
(Games start from a 5/10 and the score gets higher/lower depending on the pros/cons)

The Plan is a free steam game developed by Krillbite Studio, and a game I got for two reasons. One, it took surprisingly absolutely beautiful and quirky, second, well, it was free.

In The Plan, you play as a fly and your purpose In life is to fly up and up, and avoid the many, MANY things that threatens to crash onto you and end your life: leaves, the wind etc

And, well, that’s it!

For a game with such a simple concept, goal and gameplay, I had prepared myself to mock it, laugh a bit, uninstall it and never thing of it again. But as it turned out, I actually enjoyed myself quite a bit in The Plan, although I can’t necessarily say that the game was challenging, I must say that it’s ending and conclusion, and, oh my god, it’s SOUNDTRACK, were mind-blowingly amazing and if The Plan had cost me anything, anything at all, I would have sat on my office chair filled with a lot of things but free of any regret for my purchase.

10/10 – Would play it again, great music, great graphics, ending that left me laughing and yelling so hard out of, well, a lot of different feelings, would recommend to anyone who wants to spend 5 minutes in a pretty sweet & simple game.

Definitely a neat little Free-2-Play indie title. This very well may be one of the shortest games I've ever played, and ever will play. But for what it's worth it's well designed, has some great audio and visuals, and the ending made me chuckle. Everyone who wants a neat little 10 minute experience and an easy achievement should check this game out.
