Version 1.1.3, Build 9.8 - Squishy Bug Guts!

Welcome to Version 1.1.3, Build 9.8

It’s been a while - but here is a small bug fix update. Yes, we do read the forums :-)

1.1.3 (Build 9.8) Change List
New
  • You can now cycle pages in the inventory (loot shrine) with the right stick (left & right) when using a controller

Changes/Improvements
  • Keys now rotate as they bob up and down, to make it easier to see them

Fixes
  • Fixed checkpoints not firing events properly when connected to logic blocks
  • Fixed blockers flickering when intersecting with other disabled blockers
  • Fixed NPC dialogue windows being left open when a player dies
  • Fixed character inventory not being stomped when restarting a failed adventure (woops)
  • Fixed being able to press (B) on Game Over screen and soft-lock the game if the game ended via self-destructing
  • Fixed “Half Way” Achievement not firing when unlocked in the same session you killed the dragon - If you have already killed the dragon once but have not received this achievement, simply go fight the dragon one more time and it will unlock at the end of the battle.

Version 1.1.3, Build 9.7 - Happy New Year!

Welcome to Version 1.1.3, Build 9.7

Happy New Year!

This is a small update to get a couple of new features we’ve been working on out to you all that we didn’t have time to ship last year - enjoy!

New Enemy NPC’s
One of our most commonly requested features is the ability for enemies and NPC’s to be interchangeable - the ability to make some enemies talk to the player, or an NPC to talk to the player and then become hostile and fight. Unfortunately, decisions we made in the architecture of Fight The Dragon all the way back in 2013(!) make scenarios like this impossible - the immense amount of work required to rebuild large sections of the game while keeping legacy adventures compatible is an unfeasible task.

However, while we can’t give you all of the features you’ve been asking for, we’ve come up with what we think is a pretty cool compromise - Enemy NPC’s! The standard NPC can now be switched into Enemy mode, where you can select from 13 different enemy varieties (Skeleton, Orc, Male + Female Brigands, Mummy and Zombies) that will look like an un-armoured enemy, but function exactly like a standard NPC. The enemy can select from 4 different animations (Default, Scared, Angry and Sad) and has all of the same abilities that a normal NPC has (Dialogue, Events, Icons, etc ).

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=610038866

New two sided window facades
Based on some suggestions from the forums, we’ve added a new type of two sided window facade for creators to use on single-width walls, so you can see a window from both sides of a wall.

1.1.3 (Build 9.7) Change List
New
  • Added new Enemy NPC varieties
  • Added new 2 sided window facades

Changes/Improvements
  • Made UI scale more when at highest value - this may cause some minor overlapping UI on extreme settings
  • Improved Dragon background image on splash screen - should work better on wider displays

Fixes
  • Fixed a rare UI focus issue when opening the Adventure Gallery after using the Loot Shrine
  • Fixed an issue where blocked adventures would gradually build up locally and eventually crash the game when attempting to play a random adventure

Collect loot, level up, conquer enemies and become a master adventurer!

Become the ultimate Dungeon Master you always dreamed of being!

Fight The Dragon ships with a highly flexible in-game Adventure Construction Kit (ACK) that allows players to design, play and share their own adventures with other players on all platforms around the world.

The ACK (as is the gameplay) is designed to be as intuitive to use via a gamepad as it is via mouse and keyboard. Creators are able to sculpt and paint environments, place props, enemies, NPCs, Traps, checkpoints and other key game elements including hooking up basic logic systems for switches/gates and traps.

The Fight The Dragon community have already published over 1600 fantastic adventures, which means we have hundreds of hours of gameplay already created.

ACK FEATURES
  • Great assortment of Melee, Ranged and Mini-Boss Enemies
  • Large selection of textures to paint environments with
  • Static & Dynamic props including realtime lights, traps, bridges & more
  • Super intuitive editor allowing rapid design
  • In editor play testing at any time

Dragon Battle Arena

As heroes complete adventures and reach milestones, they earn tickets that allow them to go “Fight The Dragon” in the ultimate dragon battle arena.

Every player has their own dragon to fight, and each dragon has MEGA HP, so killing your dragon will require many encounters and a lot of skill. The damage you do to your dragon is persistent between play sessions, so collect as many tickets as you can and go battle it out! Each ticket grants the player 3 lives, but be warned, there are more ways to die in the dragon arena than just the dragon, so stay alert!

Note: As it stands, I can't really recommend it. I might play more later and this could change, but it is as it stands.

Fight the dragon is your base RPG formula. Pick a class, fight monsters, get gear, level up; and eventually hit the key component: Fight the Dragon. I won't go about telling you what classes there are, cause like all RPG's there is the main variety. You got your physical, your magical, and your dexterity.

What I want to get into the grit about is the gameplay. Playing the game feels a bit stiff or awkward in most cases, and it's mostly attributed to hitboxes. When you attack someone there's a good chance you'll hit them if you're so close to them you're clipping inside, but other than that you can seriously end up missing for stupid reaesons that can result in you dying very quickly.

Even when fighting skeletons in the tutorial, I found several times that I'd take swings at them and watch my blade go through them with no damage done, but they do the same in return and actually manage to connect to me. There's also been times where I'd attack and it'd hit, starting off a combo. But wait! The enemy was nudged back a bit, so I miss the rest of my combo by a hair, letting me take more damage.

The real struggle is with elevated platforms and ranged enemies. Did you know I honestly thought wraiths couldn't be hurt by basic attacks at first? Cause I'd get within breathing range and swing and they'd fly right through me without it connecting, but only after a few more attempts did I Realize they can in fact be hit. This was mostly because most of the time they were hovering above me just enough to have it not count.

Which brings me to elevation. A platform that's short enough to the point where you can walk up onto it without a climb should not prevent me from attacking an enemy that my sword is going right through their ankles! And when you are on a map with ranged way above where the player cant reach? You can ♥♥♥♥ right off. Especially with custom maps that like using these types of enemies.

That said, all the maps in the game are - aside from the provded - custom. This is the main key, and this naturally leads to some really unbalanced situations with custom maps, but dev maps are pretty reasonable for the most part.

Suggestions
- Make hitboxes a bit more reasonable. You can size it out even half an inch or more and it'd be an improvement
- Lower health on ranged enemies. It's bad enough they sprint away from you at twice your speed
- FIX BLOCKING. Seriously, that thing is bipolar. Even at maximum health, it struggles to do jack ♥♥♥♥ half the time. Sometimes it feels like you need to block, and sometimes it feels like that axe needs to go past it into your face.

The entire premise is based around user-created maps, but they aren't curated whatsoever. Only a hundred or so good ones out of tens-of-thousands. The only real effective way to level up and make progression is to farm rats with +EXP gear. and abilities and combat are lackluster.

After I became intrigued about this game when I heard it was like Little Big Planet, one of my favorite PS3 games. A few questions later and I bought the game. Now 4 hours into the game I am proud to say that I bought this game. It is fun, unique and "never ending" but I'll get to that later.
You create your character from one of the 4 classes. You can customize their skin and even customize it with some cool skins made with the steam workshop. After you do that they drop you into the hub where you will spend a lot of time "praying" to the gift gods and managing your inventory. From here you may go to online mode (multiplayer), go on an adventure or battle the dragon which requires a dragon scroll. Once I beat the developer made levels it started to put me into community made levels which made me nervous but it turns out that the devs don't like garbage levels polluting their game. Which is good. At this point I realised that this game is "never ending" because you can create your own adventures or play other adventures after you played the developer ones.
The level creation tool deserves more credit than it gets as you can do a lot with the triggers and events. Sadly I have not tried to play this with multiplayer so I cannot give a review on that.
Pros:
Lots of good unique levels
Level editor
Character customization
Nice graphical feel
Cons:
I can see how some people can find this game repetative.

Games this is similar to:
Spiral Knights and (barely) Little Big Planet. More so to spiral knights.

Nice, little RPG with player created content.
Sometimes, might feel too hard.
When you die you lose all collected items from that level, but not your equip.
I think, with controller it plays much easier than keyboard.

Multiplayer is in bad shape, not many who play, but if you look patiently then maybe you will find someone.
Played created maps varies widely, thats give some replayability.

Only get this on sale and you own steam controller.

This game is freaking fantastic! I bought it almost as after after-though since I do like Diablo, but I'm not a huge fan of Little Big Planet... So the description threw me off at first. If you have any doubts about the game, check out some videos on You Tube, they'll give you a pretty good idea about the gameplay. It's a great game and lots of fun... :)

One other thing that threw me off: There is no selling of loot in this game. I thought, "What good is a game with loot if you can't sell it to buy better gear?!?" But all is well... This game has a very unique system whereas you "donate" your gold that you pick up as well as items you decide not to keep. Yeah, that sounds like fun, right? But what you get in return is awesome... The gold and each item has a value and as you donate more, you increase in level as to how good of an item (or special skill or whatever) that you get in return when you "pray" (in other words, choose to cash in on your generosity). It works very well in this game and is easy to get used to. Very inventive!

I haven't built any levels myself yet... Just been having fun playing levels that other folks have built... And I've already come across some great ones! Very, very cool, and lots of fun! Been playing with an X-Box 360 controller and it works great. It's definitely a pick up and play game, but I can see I'm going to get hours sucked out of my life with this one. Definite Two Thumbs Up!

Amazing game. The controls are like FPS (WSAD, Shift to Sprint, Space to dodge).

Unlike Torchlight 2, all achievements are attainable. Unlike Diablo 3, this game is always there to play (no Battle.net being down).

This game is a simple, relaxing way to pass time. Playing this will help you a little in FPS as well. Most importantly, eventually you will get all the achievements.

This game got what everyone wants in an actionRPG:
- plot? f*ck that, no cutscenes to interrupt your grinding
- quests? none of this silly stuff to detract you from your looting
- multiplayer? wouldn't be a good game without it
- character customization? hell yeah, you can use a barrel as armor and do a literal barrel roll
- loot? really, it's all this game is about (i mean it, the game can get boring as hell, that's why the multiplayer is so important [also, seeing your friends dieing to the dragon on your fault never gets old])
- a dragon so F*ckin powerful you need hours of playing just to have a chance against it? check, check, and check

And you are still playing Witcher 3, pfffff....

It is a fun drop in/out style game. My only complaint is the limited number of enemies that you can face. I would have liked to have seen sets of enemies that escalate in difficulty. Instead they all adjust to your current level and equipment set. It isn't a serious RPG, so I can't complain much. Worth 5-10 bucks if you play with a friend

i like Fight the Dragon because of these reasons:

#1- it is a fun way to explore various maps solo or with friends.

#2- you can make your own custom maps to test and have fun on.

#3- no mini map because it is a fun way to explore without looking for hints on were to go.

#4- most of all you can have fun!

This game is really great. I just played it for a week with some friends but it's really addictive.

I found out about this game by searching on the web. But I have never heard of it before.
Unfortunately it's a little expensive (i'm one of those who do not buy for more than 10€) but if you get it in a promotion or a pack of 4 it's totally worth it =)

Dont hesitate !! The adventures are endless !!!

The dragon is really a tough one, it has like 1 billion hp lol, so you need to do it step by step. Don't be afraid, you'll just die a thousand times on it :p (but it'll not regen its hp so that's how it dies).

Please come join us in these amazing adventures !!!

This game relies heavily on user generated content, but fortunately there are loads of maps/modules available, in fact there are so many maps that is nearly impossible to play them all. There are many short maps, which makes it suitable for casual play if you don't have much time. The gameplay is simple, yet entertaining, the one thing that i found somewhat annoying is that there is no save during maps, which means you have to finish the map or you loose any progress including xp and items. It is possible to get used to it though.
The game works well on linux and with steam controller out of the box, though I find aiming a lot easier with a mouse.
If you like action rpg-s you should consider buying this game.

i like Fight the Dragon because of these reasons:

#1- it is a fun way to explore various maps solo or with friends.

#2- you can make your own custom maps to test and have fun on.

#3- no mini map because it is a fun way to explore without looking for hints on were to go.

#4- most of all you can have fun!

3/5 - mediocre static gameplay, needs smarter content and revamped combat

A friend asked me to play this game
so i thought give it a try

The Multiplayer option is not 100% without buggs took us a long time to get it all working fine
the graphics are funny but not that special
overall gameplay is not that bad

Pros:
  • Making the maps is a lot of fun (although I would like more options.)
Cons:
  • Most of the maps the community makes are awful.
  • The combat is mind numbingly boring.

needs MORE things to make it feel truely epic, needs more classes, skills, and enime types, as well as new blocks, outfits, and traps. Also. please make a higher placement limit. As the game stands. it feels a bit lack luster. Its a great starting point for a game with this kind idea, dont get me wrong, i love how it works, but it just needs more of what we love about it. adding in just say, 10 more enimes, and 10 more mini bosses, or 3 or 5 actual bosses would help a little. but as is. I can't recomend this game. After about 3 to 6 hurs you've akready seen all there is to see, in most of the combos that there are to see. :<
