“How To Survive is more than just a solid zombie role-playing game, it's also one of the best games of the year. With its mix of Diablo-esque hack and slash and dual-stick shooter action, 505 Games' newest Xbox Live Arcade game is a real surprise. It has a deep crafting system and a world you can't help but want to explore. How To Survive rewrites the book on zombie RPGs!”
90% – Gaming Nexus

“While there have been several games that have recently released that fall into the growing zombie survival genre, How to Survive manages to do enough differently to earn its place among the crowd. The game’s strong emphasis on crafting and juggling basic human needs helps distinguish itself from other titles. Additionally, the story campaign features a tale that manages to contain a few plot twists despite its simplicity. One area where How to Survive shines is the game’s strange brand of humor which is helped along by the title’s decent voice acting. In all, How to Survive is recommended to any fans of either the undead or survival simulators. Those who enjoy intricate crafting or top-down gaming should also give it a look.”
4 Stars – Examiner

“In terms of graphic and sound design, How to Survive looks good and sounds even better. The lighting gives real-time shadows based on not only the source but the time of day as the shadows move with the passing sunlight. The island is beautifully rendered, and animations are fluid and zombie deaths are pleasingly gory, chunks of body parts will liter the ground and roll depending on the shape of the surface”
8/10 – Gamer Horizon

This game is great at first but the game becomes way more difficult near the end to the point where not even the most advanced weapons and armor you have can help you.

Basic Information
Title: How to Survive
Genres: Action, Casual & Indie, A real Gem
Developer: According to the store page, no one has developed this game…
Publisher: According to the store page, no one has published this game…
Release Date: The 25th of March, 2016

General Impression
How to Survive… oh my God… why is this on Steam? It should be a browser open-source game. Even the store page of it is not complete, proving that the developer and the publisher don’t even take care of their own game. Where should I start… The graphics are extremely weak, without any polish or additional design. The textures are very simple, and nothing spectacular. The atmosphere differs between 6 different environments. What differs at them: First of all, the type of enemies and the final bosses. Second of all, the color of the background. The audio is somewhat decent, hence they sound like this game is old… and the music… some people might like it, but I personally don’t. The gameplay is boring as hell, you need to shoot and to dodge a ton of enemies, which die from 1 shot, which are coming down constantly, and you will die a lot. After a while, on each map, you will have to kill the final boss. Throughout the maps, you will find several bonus items, which will make your killing time slightly easier. The game is very short, but if you will die a lot, you will need a few hours to complete it, since you will be respawned from the first damn map… why not just respawn from the last map you got into? The game takes around 8 minutes, as I saw on YouTube, if you don’t die even once. So basically, a VERY, VERY, VERY short game. There isn’t any interface at all, all you have to do is click the button to launch the maps or exit. The controls are very simple, you need to use just your mouse. The engines are alright, I haven’t found any haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. The mechanics are very simple and somewhat neat, hence the moving of your airplane feels a little buggy. Overall, I can’t recommend this game, not even if it was free. Avoid it at all costs, unless you want a game where you need to keep spawning from the 0 point just to finish a 8 minutes game. Very positive reviews? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...
Combined environments and enemies
Bonus item throughout your way
Decent audio
Simple controls
Some decent engines
Some decent mechanics
Steam achievements and trading cards available

Neutral Points
The airplane's mechanics feel a little buggy

Negative Points
The graphics and the textures are too simple and weak
The music is pretty horrible, hence some people like it
Very repetitive gameplay, all you have to do is to shoot the enemies and to reach the final destination
The user-interface is almost not existing
The length of the game is VERY, VERY, VERY short
You have to spawn from the 0 point if you die, you should respawn from the last map
The game is treated very superficially by the developers and the publishers
The enemies die from 1 shot and there is too many of them... really?
For the amount of content and the time needed to finish it, even 0.99$ is still somewhat high
Positive Points

Yep. This is a very good game. If you liked State of Decay (the rural bits, that is ... nothing too much of your urban Lifeline-stuff), you’ll certainly like this one. How to Survive has a creepy atmosphere (especially at night and during thunderstorms), a user-friendly crafting system and pleasant gameplay. Combat-wise it is rather satisfying and in general not too challenging (I would recommend the iron axe for melee and the compound bow (with incendiary arrows) for long-distance), except for the final battle (which is rather out of balance, as far as the overall difficulty of the game is concerned). There are some minor bugs (e.g. the sound issues in the Survival Guide-bits and some glitches every now and then), but nothing too problematic. All in all I would definitely recommend How to Survive (especially since you can pick it up for a measly two euros!).

As of only 12 hours played, this is easy one of the best Zombie-Shooter-RPG's i ever played.
Humor. Action. Scavenging. Crafting. RPG Aspects. Short with no responsibilities to sit endless hours, but at the same time addictive as hell.
I will strongy suggest the game to all friends and Zombie fans.

The game as a whole is entertaining and for the price right now (1$) it's a steal. The combat, crafting, day and night cycles, random weather events, and random enemy spawns is awesome. My only gripe with this game is the fact that when you play COOP, only the Host gets to keep exp and items earned during said session, your "guest" you buddy would get diddly squat after the session. That is unless the other player syncs with the Host, problem with that by doing so it overwrites your local character save to match your host, what that means is if the host hasn't gotten far into the game you risk of losing items since the game matches you to it's host game. It's pretty weird how they handled the COOP portion of the game. Though that's my only negative it kinda is a big deal since i got this game with the sole purpose of playing with my friends.

This is just a heads up to other buyers regarding COOP. I recommend this game but be aware of the limitations of the coop mode for this game.

Fun little survival game. Easy to pick up, with enough direction to get you going but there is still some experimenting and fun to be had.

Pretty fun game, once you get past all of the annoying/cheesy "Kovac's Rules" tutorials.

Explore, kill, loot, craft, eat, drink, sleep, repeat.

It's a very addictive game. I only tested the story mode and it has already convinced me. The crafting, gameplay and survival is nicely done. I would have love more crafting but the game is really better than I thought so.

It's a great game to buy when on sales with all its DLC.

it's a charming little game. feels like one of them flash games you played in high school during lunch before they blocked all the game sites. only thing I didn't like was the save points, but that's very small.
