The classic arcade shoot-em-up.

Keep note that this version is a port of the iOS version, so while it's not exactly a perfect arcade port, it still plays and handles rather well. There are some slight sound anomolys with the emulation, but quite frankly it's as close as you're gonna get with the true METAL SLUG experience on Steam.

As for the game itself, 3 is known to be the best (and the hardest) of the series. And after 14 years, this still holds true. Saying that, once you learn the patterns of the enemies and bosses, and know the best routes to take and where the weapons and vehicles drop, you'll be mastering the game soon enough.

Online play seems to be pretty solid, provided you and your partner have good connections to each other.

Overall, I would say; Yes, buy this game if you're a fan of the series. If you're looking for a better emulation version, though, see if you can pick up the Metal Slug Anthology for the PS2 or Wii, which has the games 1-6 and is a really stable port.

This version is still perfectly playable despite the slight emulation annoyances.

This game was designed to be unfair and impossible in some occations until you throw your corpse at them over and over. At lest you only pay like $8 for this game unlike the normal arcarde where to actually beat the game you would need your life savings in quarters. Still fun and brings back memories of only being able to beat the first level!

Diversão ao estilo clássico arcade. É melhor se for jogado em dupla, mas é uma pena não suportar mais jogadores.

The game is awesome and is my favourite metal slug. ...Oh wait, im talking about the arcade/xbox version. This PC port is a slow piece of crap, it has alot of sound problems like the go sound being horribly bitcrushed and ♥♥♥♥, The controls suck monkey balls but can be changed (thank god!) and overall this port is ♥♥♥♥. Makes me wanna puke. if you wanna play metal slug 3, get a original xbox and buy the game for it (should be cheap),get a emulator for pc (winkawaks etc) or simply get a arcade cab.
"arcade-perfect" port my @ss.

Do not buy this game. I thought that if I get this game I will have unlimited credits. I thought I can set my own credits and life. You get only 20 credits no matter the level of difficulty. If you used up all your 20 credits, too bad you cant continue and you lose. I spent $8 on this game give me my unlimited credits, give me the full control of this game.

I used to play this game in a arcarde near my house, man this is nostalgy. The game is good, but hard for some people, if you like 2D arcade shooters and bullet hell games give it a try, you can play it with a friend in the coop mode, the sad part its short game you can finish it in less than a hour.

Not my favourite Metal Slug by any means but it still is very fun and a solid game to play. It really worked to liven up the gameplay with not only the classic run and gun action sequences as usual but now it had shoot-em-up sequences similar to R-Type, Gradius, and even Raiden. I guess my main gripe is with the zombies; I feel they were overused being that they slow you down when you try and dodge them and slow you down when they infect you so all in all the level can be a long one. I only complain about this because they're scattered all over the notoriously long last level. Had they just exsisted in the one mission early on, It wouldn't have bothered me because I get the idea of having gimmics attached to certain levels. I can't be too mad because the zombies have a story purpose with the whole game so it makes sense why they appear in such places. Also I can't say I didn't enjoy playing it as I did, but I just feel that personally, I'm more attached to Metal Slug 1, 2, and X then I am this game. Still though, you can't go wrong with a Metal Slug game...

Metal Slug 3 is the only game where you can turn into a zombe and then kill cartoon Nazis with projectile blood vomit.
