Someone else already explained it perfectly, so I will just briefly say, the game has been in development for from what I have heard, 7 years. There has not been an update for 4 months as of this post, and on top of that, most updates only fix animations, or something to do with the combat that is so minor it really doesn't seem necessary.

On top of all of that, the support and feedback from developers when trying to contact them is non existent. I had contacted them multiple times about certain bugs that have never been fixed, and I had never received a reply.

Lastly, due to the fact that this is still "Alpha", the game has many glitches and crashes quite often. I just got a new gaming laptop for over 1500 bucks, and it still crashes every 10 minutes or so.



The one pro I have to say though, is that during the time that it does play, it is relatively fun to free run and fight, but really, that is all you can do. There is nothing to do but spawn enemies and fight, or run and climb things. If this game keeps updating at the pace that it is, there will most likely never be a completed game because it will be dropped eventually because there have been almost no noticeable changes at all in the past couple years.

Really, really want to like this project. I want to say it has a bright future. The physics, the combat, the game engine itself, the platforming, are all *very* promising. Unfortunately, in it's current state it simply (to me) not worth the backing cost at all.

Lately I've looked at my library, and I'm glad to say that out of all my titles, I regret very few purchases. Unfortunately, Overgrowth is a backing that for me is starting to look worthy of seeking a refund for. The speed of updates, the years it's been in development, and the.. state of the game/engine itself, (which grants me a low frame rate and crashes regardless of my settings, [important to note, I can run and enjoy GTAV and BF4 on this machine] even now), bring the centrally poised thumb downward.

I won't say don't support them. And I am not yet decided on whether I would seek a refund with Wolfire Games. I believe they are honest and don't spend the funds they receive wrongly necessarily, but I also can't say I think this price is worth what is offered. If this game does come to fruition within the next 1-2 decades, I'm sure it would be a great game, with a great engine, physics, combat based on said physics, and maybe an interesting story and (possibly?) multiplayer.

As of now, you are putting your faith, and money, into a product which, (for some reason I personally cannot run very well at all), is ultimately far from finished and contains very little replay value in my view.

That said, when/if this title is *ever* finished or near finished, I imagine it would certainly be worth this price, if not more.

I recommend this game, for people who want a change in games these day's, yes maybe this guy is taking too long for some people. But if you read his Twitter he's starting to pick up the pace and is soon going to hire more people, so far everything he's done in this game is pretty much superior to all these triple AAA games that create a new and super buggy game every year. The Core mechanics of the game are solid and he's obviously worked very hard to bring it from the ground up like this from scratch. I hate the talking down upon this amazing work he's done, I do agree Wolfire needs some new recruits if he wants to progress this game. Although it's taken a long time many mods give you plenty of more hours of this game and I've been designing my own map, character, and story; With the map editor and character action editors...
But seriously, is really being negative about what he's doing the best option? Why not tell him that he's doing great with all these nice things, but these small little changes like ear twitches should not be the best thing to work on at the moment. What I say he really should begin working on is the story, mechanics, physics, animation, and levels. I believe hiring people to work on the small stuff like minor bug fixes, small improvements, concept ideas, multiplayer, performance, and graphics. While the main developers can work on what's truly important, the story, level design, and gameplay. I believe we should start motivating David, because he is very talented in what he does but he needs support not negativety for making a amazing game from scratch. We just need to talk him into hiring people that he can trust to help him code, having a team of 10 could possibly durastically increase game production. So please hear me out when I say these things and think about it for a second and help us snap David out of the endless minor improvements so we can have a GREAT GAME!!
