FORCED v1.23, Fixes, fixes, fixes

It's been a while :)

This patch certainly took longer than expected, but with the help of our amazing community we've tracked down some hard to catch issues and managed to fix them.

Here are some of the highlights;

  • Fixed the bug that caused some people to get stuck with infinite loading screen.
  • Fixed an issue with lobbies that you couldn't connect to appearing in the list.
  • Updated the French translations with more words

We hope you enjoy this new patch, and please don't hesitate
to tell us what you think on the forums :)

FORCED v1.22, Connecting people

Hi!

We have finally uploaded the massive network solution we've been working on for months. In short it replaces the old code we had and utilizes the steam backend, which should now allow more than 99% of people to connect to each other.
Before that people might have been stuck in different router setups that we hadn't predicted, but that should no longer occur.

Minor bugs may have been introduced due to this massive update, but we haven't had any reports for days now, and we've been playing a lot as well. So we are pretty sure Forced should now offer you a great experience no matter what evil router from hell you might have in your dungeon. But if you encounter a bug please post it on the forum, we will check on a daily basis.

Playing with randoms is awesome:
While playing recently, I encountered Seolfer (rank 2 in single player), who didn't knew I was one of the developers. So I thought “I'm not gonna tell him that” and I still haven't... :)
That lead to one of my best experiences with FORCED so far. We've been playing for hours and I was treated like a random internet guy from Denmark. Even without voice communication we were actually able to get the challenge crystals in world 4, amazing telekinetic play! :)
It's quite a special experience to play a campaign driven game with a random player over the web. You share an intimate problem-solving time over several hours, and might never meet again. Well I just wanted to recommend grabbing a few crystals like that, instead of only using friends.
So if you meet Seolfer or similar awesomely behaving entities, you should definitely grab some trials with them :)

Lastly thanks for actively helping us fix the new network solution.

FORCED love!
@Baboonlord and @BetaDwarf

Incredible game. Hits the right balance between "these developers are evil!" and "holy crap I just pulled that off!". The four classes are well varied and the skill trees are very interesting. Toying with characters builds is quite fun. The story is simple but the early twist plus good characters and good voice actors make it engaging. Coop (and local coop!) makes this a great party game too. All that together and the result is a game I haven't been able to put down. I think about it when not playing and push for the "ok just one more unlock" when I am playing.

Do NOT buy this game if you plan to play single player. It's miserable.

That said, I absolutely recommend this game for co-op with 3 or 4 players. This game is a very tough gauntlet-style game, with puzzley elements frequently thrown in. Yes, you are smacking monsters and trying to stay alive, while doing puzzles at the same time. It's freaking hard.

But, it is very satisfying to complete the levels.

The only downside is that the netcode still isn't rock solid. For whatever reason, I have a 20%ish game freeze rate when trying to start a group game, requiring me to totally shut down the game and restart. Other than that, it seems ok.

Simply the best 'Diablo 3' style local arena game I've ever played.
The more local players you have with xbox controllers connected the better your experience will be but this can still be enjoyed by yourself.

The story is well done, the gameplay never gets boring and is fair, the enemies are challenging but too much and the traps and obstacles are intense and will make you think.

Just a really top game I would recommend this to anyone looking for a game that won’t disappoint!

the game 'Forced' is a very well playaible game.

the art of this game is stuning
When I first played this game I didn't know what to think of it.
But when I started playing more I fell in love with the stuning game art, It looks great!
I like the nature overgrown in this game it really makes the arena's intresting to enter.

Nice combat system
I also like to way your character fights in this game, you can just slash your opponents with your sword or shoot them trough the head with your mighty bow, but you may also use some neat skills you gain when you set down your roots to victory! these skills are very nice it's not just a button you press so your character slashes more differently than normal, the animations of these skills are just lovely I really like it when you teleport with your green assassin your character fades for a second cause he is to fast for tracking him, the game desingers really had there minds at this game they didn't just made a new game that looks like all those others it is a little bit different than a normal RPG game, I really like the arena's in this game.

I would recoment this to you if you like gladiators or rpg games.
you need to try out this game, it is in the sale now so be quick -75% that is a very very very good deal if you ask me!

go ahead and try it out yourself!

I will rate this game a great 4 out of 5!

This game barely functions on Linux. The developers take years to fix the critical bugs it has on the Linux platform and constantly seem to introduce new bugs.

This has a tiny bit of "action" and I use that term loosely when describing this game for no other reason than it is a pure 100% puzzle game. That would be fun if it was hard-fun and not only pure frustration. The only purpose enemies serve are small obstacles on your way to solving puzzles. This is not an example of puzzle game with hard but fun puzzles, it is a example of a game that never feels like it tests your skills, just your patience. I got extremely frustrated in the second set of stages having to move around those orange squares with the glowing ball past the fire streams because the first set of stages was no problem, then the difficulty spikes quickly. And like I said solving these difficult puzzles is not fun for me, it just feels like doing chores. I understand the game just fine and with practice I could finish the entire game, but that will never happen because it is a pure memorization game and has nothing to do with action even though you might be fooled into thinking that while you are fighting off some enemies. The combat is not very good anyway. The game's combat engine feels very old.

Challenging only in a frustration type of way. The real challenge was forcing myself to play even 2 hours of it. 5/10 Waste of 4 ♥♥♥♥ing dollars...

+Good gameplay.
+Challenging Cooperative puzzles in multi-player.

-Camera range in multi-player is smaller than the play area.. you will frequently be in combat off camera.
-Console designed game.

At the end of the day, the challenge curve created by the camera is excessive.
It's designed as a console game with controllers, the mouse and keyboard interface is clunky.
This game should have been designed as a console exclusive for split screen gaming on huge screens.

I HATED THIS GAME. I was fooled by the reviews. This game is frustrating as hell. It's the type of challenge that feels like work and I play games for fun.

If you are looking for a small studio ARPG to spend some time one, I would recommend the Torchlight series. This game is just bland.

Choose a side. Either be a puzzler or dungeon crawler. Don't blend two genre into one thinking you created the next best thing since sliced bread because all you end up doing is satisfying neither parties. 3/10
