This is Bull Stuff! I tried to play with game with a co-hort, and it was frustrating to the max. It felt like the game was designed for 4 players, but they forgot to test it for 2, or less than 4. It started out fun, but got crazy hard crazy fast. The frustration overwhelmed the fun bits of the game. The design is good, but the execution is where it falls apart.

-you don't like trying multiple attemps on a difficult encounter
-you don't enjoy having a laugh with your friends
-you don't like the fact that sometimes you need to becomie good at a game in order to beat it

Pros:
-Rewards skillful play a lot
-The right game if you are the type of player who likes challenging himself with speed trials etc
-Lots of different playstyles, through the 4 classes and the skill customisation
-The Spirit Mentor is really fun once you get a hang of it, especially in co-op. A lot of cool mechanics via this, such as having to cleverly position the mentor in order to avoid being damaged continuously from a sandstorm.

Cons:
-If you are the type of player who likes to progress via character power, rather than personal skill, this is not a game for you
-Can be a bit hard to get a hang of the Spirit Mentor mechanic

Disclaimer:
The majority of my playtime with this game has been in the standalone beta client, and thus there might be changes I am unaware of, and also, do not trust the "hours played" listed for me.

Great Co-op game! The challenges are really balanced, the further you progress in the game. It also scales really well depending on how many friends you are playing with.

I would recommend this game to people who likes a challenge, and likes to play co-op with their friends.

Typically single player games have co-op features that aren't requirements to play and pass the game. FORCED on the other hand is a single player game that HAS TO BE played in co-op. The challenges scale so that if there are fewer players you may need to do a task fewer times or kill fewer enemies, but it's still challenges created with co-operative play in mind; you may need to carry a ball fewer times across the screen but you still need to carry it across the screen rather than alternating with a partner. There are four heroes, each specializing in different tasks and the game comes into its own when they're all working together taking advantage of their specialties. You can conceivably play this title single player but it's an experience meant for co-op. Preferably 3 people or more (max of 4).

Like any co-op experience FORCED spends little time in cutscenes or dialogue; there are 5 hubworlds you travel to in a small overworld map, each with 5 levels and a boss. Each level gives you a max of three crystals: one for completion, another for completing a challenge specific to that level, and a third for completion under a certain time.

It's a relatively short game if you're just aiming to pass levels and face the bosses. Despite that several levels and bosses present a WORTHY challenge and will require some coordination and strategizing on your teams' end. Otherwise length and replay value comes in trying to do the challenges and finishing the levels under the time limit. Many of the challenges further the co-op aspect by requiring some modicum of strategy in finishing them, whether that be lining up the shield hero so that he tanks hits whilst the archer attacks from afar so that no one on the team is hit by a particular enemy, or positioning heroes so that an explosive object doesnt touch enemies on its way to its objective in a timely manner. I don't know how its even possible to complete some of these tasks in single player.

The point in completing challenges is for crystals; attaining a certain amount unlocks more abilities for your class and/or slots to use abilities (maximum of three). The abilities are obviously different for each class, and they have their use depending on what you're trying to do. You can use one of your slots for a healing ability to aid your team in bossfights, or you can switch it out for a rapid fire attack to take out many smaller enemies that may present issues whilst the rest of your team is focusing a large enemy down. Pre-levels there's a moderate amount of strategy in synergizing heroes and abilities to get the job done.

Good and pretty short co-op experience, but that's the big thing: unless you have a group of people to play this with don't bother. It can be fun playing alone, but it's like playing payday or left4dead alone and without bots. It's made to be a co-op title and without it it isn't as enjoyable.

A unique game that combines both fighting and puzzle-solving skills, with the icing on the cake of the co-op mode in which you can play with up to 3 friends to complete the levels, using both your wits and teamwork.
At first i thought it could be another boring "kill and solve this thing to proceed to the next level" game, but damn i'm happy that i were so wrong.

The puzzles are infact part that has been very well integrated into the battleground of your levels, it means that you will have to both fight and use a spirit with the shape of a sphere (your main tool to solve these puzzles) in order to beat certain kind of bosses, or just to open a door while running from a swarm of monsters or either avoid lethal environment present in the level, or even activate some for your aid.

Even the fighting part itself is pretty nice, 4 different gladiators to choose from, each with their own weapons and unique skills that you will earn as long as you progress into the game by completing the levels themselves and their respective timer to beat, or some "challenges" which will test your skills furthermore.

The requirements of this game are also kinda flexible, at the minimum of 2 GB ram i could've run this pretty smoothly, of course decreasing video quality, but with even more recent computers it can run decently at higher settings.

One of the best university projects that made into Steam, made with the Unity engine. Definitely a worthy game.

It isn't bad.. it isn't great.
Played with friends, and we eventually gave up on it. The game is hard to navigate, the levels aren't really that fun, and some of the classes sorta get gimped.

That said.. not the worst game I've ever played. This is a solid 5/10.. just sorta "meh".

Yes, i've only played a little bit of this game but what I've played is amazing. If you are a fan of Gauntlet from N64 or the PS2/Gamecube one, you will enjoy this game a lot. It isnt just killing things endlessly, it actually has a fair amount of puzzles in it that can be quite challenging. 10/10 for sure, this is a game that is well made.

Yes, Buy it. They had already fixed most bugs and improved a lot of aspects.
And what makes this a really good game is: Perfect teamwork collaboration, and it's a good aspect for LAN Party.

Yes, best for LAN Party, very good for co-op online play (netcode is pretty good).

Just don't play FORCED only by yourself. You need friends. Yes, you are FORCED to have friends.

Extremely tough but rewarding! Voice acting is pretty hilariously bad at times - but for my friend and I, it was a great release from the frustration of dying endlessly. It's not a perfect game, but from all of the local co-op games we have played this one is held close to our hearts!

Quality Action RPG: check.
Quality puzzles: check.
Quality skill and build diversity: check.
Quality trolling potential: oh yes.

There is only one main component for puzzles: a spirit guide you move around by pressing space. This means cooperation is EVERYTHING in multiplayer mode; this may be why you don't see many public games in the co-op lobby. It's just too damn easy to troll because everyone doesn't have their own spirit guide, but then that could make FORCED game-breakingly easy.

Also, you have a lot of interesting options in how you build your character, but the game doesn't save your build which is pretty lame. If you could actually save your build without having to remember your ideal skill setup for each weapon, FORCED would be hands-down one of the best ARPG's in years. That aside, the game still has plenty to offer and is definitely worth your time. Plus it's incredibly fun to play with friends (that actually want to help you win the game, because it is so easy to troll).

FORCED has made my buddy and I quite happy.
It feels like the developers had fun making the game, and it shows.

The gameplay is very reminiscent of Gauntlet: Legends:
+isometric camera
+hack and slash combat
+'level up' system in unlocking new skills
+fast and well paced

+The campaign is a little cheesy, but charming in it's own way

-graphics aren't impressive
+but it makes the game easy to run
+and the art direction more than makes up for it

+inspired and creative puzzles keep you thinking, but don't slow the game down enough to where you're bored and feel you're in a puzzle-only game.

You're constantly working out defeating small waves of monsters, dancing around the map's pitfalls, and working out how to solve puzzles.

-some of the challenges can be tedius and seem unresponsive, though it's more an issue of getting used to hit boxes and mechanics.

I strongly recommend this game to small groups of friends who are looking for a fun and challenging multiplayer game.

9/10
