What the developers have to say:

“Welcome to the Forge Quest Early Access launch!

Forge Quest has been in development for some time now, and it has gone through many changes. At this stage most of the major content is complete. However, there are still a few features we would like to implement before calling it complete, including a large amount of polishing and balancing of the overall system.

We are very interested in hearing user input about our game. We are open to new ideas from the community and want to have the userbase involved in the development process. Even after the game is released, we intend to continue developing Forge Quest, adding additional features not yet mentioned and expanding the overall game.

Below are the major features that need to be completed
- Final Boss
- Additional Storyline Content
- Pets System
- Additional Equipment & Crafting Options
- Icons & Other Misc Assets
- Achievements
- Bug Fixing
- Balancing”

Update 1.51b

This update took a little longer then we wanted. We have been trying to track down a number of very hard to find bugs, memory leaks, as well as a few content changes here and there. This is just a small patch but provides some much needed updates.

Content
- Added a number of new body outfits for the character.
- Added hat slot to character, plus a number of hat items the player can now obtain.
- Pet store has now been re-named to reflect that it sells both pets and clothing.
- Outfit items now show 3d preview in the hover inspector.
- Outfits added to the pet/clothing store, prices have been increased.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed bug in audio thread code that sometimes caused crashes. We suspect this is the bat-attack bug that has been reported by a few users.
- Fixed bug in controller mapping that may have prevented some controllers from appearing.
- Fixed a few sound annoyances with the inventory interface. Most importantly removed spam of sounds that occur when combining multiple items together.

Balancing
- Updated a few runes. Old runes will retain their old values unless leveled up, then they will recalculate their stats.
- Rune of Point, was bugged. Now correctly gives 10% ranged weapon damage per rune level.
- Rune of Power. Now 10% ability damage bonus per level, but reduced EV cost multipler from x2 to x1.
- Rune of Endurance. Stat changed from flat health regen, to new stat Regen At Rest. Will only regen health while out of combat for minimum of 6 seconds. Also reduced amount of heal from 1% to 0.5%.
- Rune of Knowledge. Reduced stats to 20% mana max and %5 mana regen per level.

As always, if you encounter any issues please let us know either on the community pages or via e-mail at support@forgequestrpg.com.

Right now this game is a fairly standard dungeon crawler. Its blocky design is okay, though I'm not a huge fan. It's clearly in Early Access, and it needs local multiplayer and better online before I'd recommend it entirely. However, the reason I recommend it is because the devs clearly are working hard on it, and making it better all the time. They also jump on the forums to answer questions, help stuck players, and sometimes even just chat about the game. This honest effort is one thing most Early Access games don't have, and that's why I'd recommend this.

Forge-Quest is a uniqe game, being constantly updated to have new features 'cuz you know, it being in early acess.
I originally didn't play this because of the keyboard controls and with me being rather uncomfortable with mmyself using my pinkie for CTRL and SHIFT. But i plugged in a controlller and had a 7 hour game session, only stopping to get a hoodie because i was getting cold.

This game is fun to play, for someone like myself. While not used because it is not perfected, has multiplayer so you and your wannabe friends can play together and be greedy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s and take all the loot while you're busy fighting slime and flying books. This game is Voxel-Based so it can run on your computer with ease, Cuz not everyone can run Crysis 3 max graphics with 10 different shaders with no lag what so ever.

Buy the game.

Early Access Review
Forge Quest is an RPG-esque dungeon game.

Forge Quest is all around an exciting game, packed with eloquent and humorous dialogue. The classes are diverse and have their own interesting abilities to go along with them. The dungeon's designs are unique in their own ways and really bring out some of the core features of the game. The Boss's are difficult and have their own special attacks, aside from the fact most of them die to the chicken.

Pros:

- Interesting Storyline
- Interesting crafting system, could be more streamlined
- Classes are fun, have different aspects, have build up to more advanced classes suiting your playstyle
- Spells and abilities are unique to their classes and suit the builds of that character
- Weapon system is intuitive and easy to use
- Inventory system is well organized
- Differently sculpted items, some better fit classes, same with armors
- Cool pets

Cons
- Dungeons are extremely difficult to navigate, and can take upwards of an hour to complete if you take the wrong paths
- There are some spots where you can get trapped in by monsters and easily killed
- The crafting system is difficult to understand and use, could be more intuitive
- After a certain point, leveling and getting money becomes a grind, as it usually does in games like this
- Although the story progresses, a lot of it is similar to previous points in the game
- Pets can get stuck, lost

Overall Forge Quest is an extremely fun game to play, but the dungeons can get tedious as you complete floor after floor looking for the right door to take. The pets are fun to have around but can get in the way. Also having to activate the pets every time you want them to attack can get annoying.

Let me know if this review helps, but please, this is just my opinion.

Cheers

Your local janitor

A cheesy cartoony dungeon crawler game with a story so cheesy.....You'll need some wine to go with it. Very fun to play with or without friends. The only downside is a bit of lag in some areas and some small bugs here and there but something to really give it a try. Dont hate it till you've tried it.

So far, I see a game with potential, just needs more polish. In the combat there are a few issues with switching weapons and the lag between them. A few missing tutorials in lockpicking.. Dungeons seem a bit directionless at times, and as far as crafting goes... its hardly a prominant point in the game. I can dissesmble a high ranking piece of gear for the reciepe, but then I can only craft a lower gear, which is fine.. but, the only way to upgrade the gear.. is with kits, that can be found in the dungeons (not so frequently either). Crafting dust is too abundant.. and if you harvest ore (by playing a game of jewel quest.. without the chain combos).. after loading a game again in the same place or even exiting the dungeon you will have all tapped out ore ready to be havested again. Basically, I thought I was going to be doing some major crafting in order to progress further in the game.. but instead, i'm just buying or finding all my gear. Game at its basics are fine, just don't expect to see a major portion of forgeing on your quest. ;) (Maybe I misred the title?)

I like this game and I play it with my friend a lot, but I always seem to crash when I get hit with the Chicken boss or I load up the upgrade screen after leveling up. The chicken boss is a more recent and may be my computer, but that doesn't excuse the lagginess and crashing of the upgrade screen. Please fix this problem so I may have a better experience with the game.

An ARPG with great humor, if you don't buy it - at least keep an eye on this game, it's the only game where me and two friends actually kept playing after every crash, regardless of what happened. It was just too much fun.

WARNING: This is still in-progress though it actually has a lot of features already in, i.e you can play it now. However, it does crash for some people (me and my friend were on stationaries and crashed a lot; while the other friend was on a laptop and she seemed to not crash as often) if you are one of those people who think alpha and beta status = finished, no bugs. Then please stay away (from everything.)

tl;dr - Great game, a lot of fun, great humor (unlike Borderlands 2) but it does have bugs as it is early access, if you can't handle a couple of bugs: don't buy it.

This game has smooth controls that anyone can get used to. I highly reccommend playing this multi-player, due to the fact that you can not experience the full potential of the game without a party to back you up.
8/10

EDIT: The game still has many bugs that may afflict gameplay, do not fret, these will hopefully be temporary. Game is still playable. I look forward to see what Chase will add into future patches.
Cheers.

Lots of Potential. Devs are involved and updates are coming no matter how minor they are. More Early Access games need to be like this. Granted there is not a lot to this game just grind away at the mobs and get to the boss and more than liekely he will be bugged and just stand there while you kill him but again there is potential.

Really good action RPG. Like a fusion of Diablo and 3D Dot Game Heroes. Can't wait to see the game finished.
