“There’s nothing to rank alongside it. Influences and borrowings be damned – it stands alone and is as brilliantly designed, challenging and cunning a package of ideas and aesthetic choices as anything I’ve seen this year.”
Wot I Think – Rock, Paper, Shotgun

“Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of its pixels: no individual element of Dungeon of the Endless is especially complicated, but together they form a fiendish and unforgiving challenge. If you’re willing to take that on then it makes it more than worthwhile, borrowing from several genres to create something that feels unique - as well as bursting with personality and smart choices.”
8.1/10 – IGN

“From its setting to its design and aesthetic, Dungeon of the Endless feels like a game built for me. It’s tough and unforgiving, but it’s also fair. Despite all the deaths I spent climbing through the dungeon’s floors, I slowly mastered the game. That’s a testament to the roguelike genre, and it’s why I like tangling with it so much.”
4.5/5 – Game Revolution

About This Game

A few hundred condemned criminals were being shipped to the Auriga system on board the prison hulk “Success”. While this was presented as a chance to earn back their place in society by working hard for the common good, they understood that in fact they would be slave labour, sent to colonize an unexplored planet. All they knew about Auriga Prime was what the probes told them: it had water, temperate zones, plant life, and plenty of metals in the crust.

In fact, the planet Auriga once hosted a major settlement of the galaxy-travelling ancestors known as the Endless. In addition, the planet was still orbited by a functioning (and well cloaked) defensive system, which sprang eagerly to life upon the arrival of the Success. Within a few minutes, the ship was nothing but a few large chunks of metal falling toward the planet.

Every set of holding cells also functioned as an escape pod, so the ship let itself disintegrate and the surviving prisoners fell bruised but (temporarily) alive and (momentarily) safe to the planet below. Safe, that is, until they realized that they had crashed through some sort of facility of the Endless, down to a sub-basement so deep and ancient it might as well be called a dungeon…

Gather A Team.

  • Form a team of heroes, each with their own strengths (and psychoses)
  • Equip them, deploy them, and earn powerful abilities
  • Manage the balance between ex-prison inmates and guards
  • Experience four player coop and watch your back

Build Your Defenses.

  • Use the Dust you gather to power the rooms
  • Use scarce resources to help your team survive
  • Build minor and major modules to hold off waves of monsters
  • Decode Endless ruins to discover life-saving technologies

Open the Door.

  • Each door is a danger; prepare yourself and your team for anything
  • Explore and discover an infinity of levels and layouts
  • Carry your crystal through waves of monsters to the exit of each level
  • Fight your way to the surface to discover the truth about Auriga

I love strategy games, my friend likes rpg leveling and equipment, another likes resource management, and one more likes tower defense. This game combines these elements in such a great way that it doesn't take away from any genre it is pulling from, but it enhances all of them. I love the gameplay, and on solo mode you can challenge yourself, unlock characters, and try new strategies. But the most fun I have with this game is playing with my friends, everyone can chose a unique role on the team or you can all run around in chaos (though you won't get as far). You get the real time feel of fighting enemies and using abilities, but with a turn based twist that allows you to strategize and collaborate with your teammates between waves. The rouge like elements are just icing on the cake, allowing for massive replayability and devising many successful and unsuccessful playstyles. I definitely recommend you give this game a shot, especially if you have a group of friends who are interested in playing as well. It took me one play and I was hooked.

Hello Boys & Grills
This is one of those defence games where you try and defend your "crystal (Power Source)" and It's really fun to play when you have friends around. Overall the game doesnt require heavy computer to run it. So It's completely fine. I personally recommend it a lot.

I kinda hate this game. Not enough real variety even with the DLC. What kept bringing me back was the challenge to master the strategy to win this pointlessly difficult game. I beat it on "Too Easy" which only becomes that type of easy once you have spent about 24 hours figuring out how stuff works in the dungeons. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS! <-- that's how it works.

Drops you in game, gives you boring tutorials that don't help, next thing you know I'm consistently getting barraged with attacks, then I try grabbing the crystal and ♥♥♥♥ all happen, character trying to grab it is now frozen, Prety sure that's a ♥♥♥♥in bug. If not, then wow do I hate this game.

Don't buy! It looks pretty but is actual garbage. Terrible.

Every couple of months I remember that I have this game and reinstall it. I play it for an hour or so and enjoy going through floors, upgrading my heroes along the way and managing resources. Once I get to floor 7 or so, I quickly remember why it was uninstalled. With mounting dificulty and sprawling hallways, this rogue-like quickly becomes a game of chance. Opening the wrong door at the start of a level leaves your party with a useless, dangerous string of rooms that do nothing but spawn hordes of enemies; the later levels leave too much to sheer chance rather than carefull play. Of course, other games of this style have similar problems, but the limited resources you can obtain and the limited player interaction makes it hard to blame defeat on the skill of the player.
The atmophere and art are excellent, but the game quickly becomes tiresome when you begin to see the dice being rolled against you.

This is by far my favorite roguelike game. The gameplay is very well fleshed out with elements of tower defense mixed in with units that could be moved around freely like an RTS. The characters are unique and all have different uses, in addition to having character specific dialogues between floors. I will probably be playing this game for a while since it's so challenging and different ships to unlock (I haven't even beat the "too easy" mode yet so I'm in for the long ride). It's also nice that I could do all the micro-management when the game is paused since it gets quite hectic down there. All things considered, it's a pretty great game.

A unique defense game that requires strategy, patience and attention. It may seem to be becoming repetetive until you switch your roster and ship tough. Nonetheless i still enjoyed every minute of it. Great music and art style imo. character dialog and bios are worth reading aswell. Multiplayer is unfortunately reserved to playing with friends as i have seen little to no public rooms.
The rogue-like randomness is not as big as in other games but still noticeable. Ultimately i can recommend this to anyone who likes these kind of games. 30 hours of fun are guaranteeed here for a very reasonable price.

I love games with strategy that is addictive to the point where you must have a "just one more try" mentality. This is one of those games that will make hours melt away. Having said that, it is HARD, It took me 9 hours to beat the game once on Too Easy.

This game starts out as a simple point and click, fun, and peaceful game.
Then turns into more stress than when your girl says she is 2 weeks late. If you want a heart attack from the sheer, severe incline of pace, this game is for you.

Product received for free
*Recieved as a gift, but would sure pay its price, worth it*

Highly recommended game if you're into indies, and a mix of tower defence with rogue-like elements. The game offers you a "Too easy" difficulty which I skipped and went directly into easy thinking "Meh, how hard can it be?" Only to be devoured by waves of diverse monsters on the 2nd floor. The characters are diverse, each with their pros and cons that fill multiple roles into a team of 4, there are also 4 characters from TF2 which I absolutely love being a veteran of that game. Multiple "modules" to build from which offer resource income, support, defensive and offensive towers. Think tower defence, resource management and beautiful atmospheric monster hunting in a space ship with odd characters and lovely backgrounds.

Dungeon of the Endless is a game of resource management, calculated risks, and careful positioning... as well as frantic re-positioning when the monsters inevitably overrun your defences. Each door you open grants resources that can be used immediately or stockpiled for later floors, but every room you reveal and can't afford to power becomes a spawn point for monsters. Before long you've created a sprawling maze of dark and dangerous corridors, and you're desperate to find the exit. Finally, after one too many close calls, you'll stumble across the elevator to the next floor. And you'll think, "maybe I should open just more door..."

Dungeon of the Endless™ is a game that I recommend because:
- it is a method to banish boredom
- it has a good price
- it is indie
- it has strategy
- it has trading cards

Enjoy!

Now let me say one thing - This game is REALLY hard the first few times you play it (even in Too Easy difficulty), but once you get the hang of it, you really start to enjoy it.

I've noticed that almost all of the negative reviewers have only clocked up a couple of hours playing the game and are just probably fed up with the game.

Realistically, this game is a rogue-like RPG tower defence game with retro-style graphics that makes the game (in my opinion) better than if it had realistic graphics. It's definitely worth the value.

But if you want more cotent in the ame, you're going to have to download some DLC. Some of it is free but others aren't (unfortunately).

In the end, my rating is this:
8.5/10. Would rage again.

A cross between unique style defence game that requires strategy and some nice little RPG elements. It can start to feel seem slightly repetitive but changing over characters or researching new tech all of a sudden changes your play style sometimes you also may not have a choice if one of your characters dies via perma-death.

The rogue-like randomness is not as big as in other games but still noticeable. Nice music and interesting character backgrounds and dialogue. Worth a try for those who are into tower defence or rogue style dungeon crawling with a sci-fi feel, but be warned it’s unique in its own right and may not appeal if you’re heavily into your tower defence or RPG and it doesn’t do either extensively or in detail, saying that it’s a thumbs up from me!
