What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Amplitude Studios thanks to the GAMES2GETHER platform wants to propose a brand new way for players around the world to participate in the creation of a video game! Early Access is just one mean, but a significant one, on how we want to interact with the community to make our games the best they can get. Let's create GAMES2GETHER!”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“If everything goes well, the final release of the game should happen in Fall 2014.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“What can you expect from this Beta? A lot of fun! The game includes all single player gameplay features and it looks, plays and feels like a final game.

In addition to a final polishing and balancing round, we are still working on a couple of additional elements until the release of the game such as:
  • a beta version of the awaited 4 player coop mode
  • a visual log that the player will be able to complete game after game, revealing more on each hero
  • a tactical map giving you a global view of the dungeon floor
  • more interaction between heroes
  • Steam achievements and trading cards
  • a better tutorial
  • 2 final floors with a brand new environment
  • 2 heroes, one from the G2G votes (Mizi Curtiz) and one for the Endless Legend Founder Pack (Kreyang)
  • 3 spaceships including the one for the Founder Pack (The Library) and the one for the Endless Legend Founder Pack (The Refreezerator)
  • and other little surprises!

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has now hit Beta stage, we are getting closer to the final release of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During the Beta stage, the game can be acquired with a 10% discount to thank people for jumping into this adventure early on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Acquiring Dungeon of the Endless in "Early Access" will help us make the game the best it can get. Come and discuss with the dev team the upcoming art and game design elements via our GAMES2GETHER platform! If you want to support even more the development of the game, go for the Founder Pack! The more supporters we have during the Early Access, the better we'll be able to make the game for release! ...so what could go wrong... open the door!”

DUNGEON OF THE ENDLESS

About This Game

Dungeon of the Endless is a Rogue-Like Dungeon-Defense game, in which the player and their team of heroes must protect the generator of their crashed ship while exploring an ever-expanding dungeon, all while facing waves of monsters and special events as they try to find their way out... so what could go wrong... open the door!

BACKGROUND STORY
A few hundred condemned criminals were being shipped to the Auriga system on board the prison hulk “Success”. While this was presented as a chance to earn back their place in society by working hard for the common good, they understood that in fact they would be slave labour, sent to colonize an unexplored planet. All they knew about Auriga Prime was what the probes told them: it had water, temperate zones, plant life, and plenty of metals in the crust.

In fact, the planet Auriga once hosted a major settlement of the galaxy-travelling ancestors known as the Endless. In addition, the planet was still orbited by a functioning (and well cloaked) defensive system, which sprang eagerly to life upon the arrival of the Success. Within a few minutes, the ship was nothing but a few large chunks of metal falling toward the planet.

Every set of holding cells also functioned as an escape pod, so the ship let itself disintegrate and the surviving prisoners fell bruised but (temporarily) alive and (momentarily) safe to the planet below. Safe, that is, until they realized that they had crashed through some sort of facility of the Endless, down to a sub-basement so deep and ancient it might as well be called a dungeon…

As a fan of both Tower Defense games and Rogue-likes I have to say this game is fantastic! It's not that much of a tower defense game (even though it has strong influences from the genre, like waves after waves of mobs and module/tower building) as it is a resource-management and a survival game.

This game is step-based, meaning you have to open doors in the dungeon, and after each door is opened you gain resources depending on how many active modules you have and an action phase starts where mobs rush to your crystal room. Game is real-time during the action phase, but it can be paused to plan your strategy accordingly.

There is a lot of depth in this game from things like:
- many heroes, all of them with stat progressions, levels, abilities and personalities
- many constructable minor and major modules, that offer effects to your rooms, heroes or resources
- research system, that allows you to unlock module tech by spending science
- item system that lets you tweak heroes in various ways (each hero can hold 3 items in special slots)
- though monsters, most of them with special effects
- interesting progressive dungeon rooms, with good visuals, and many bonuses to be explored

Bonus points:
- great minimalistic artstyle
- soothing soundtrack
- great gameplay
- future potential as the devs continue to develop it
- devs are great and they are updating the game frequently
- endless hours of fun
- challenging gameplay

Bad points:
- can be too difficult
- still in early development

I really recommend this game to anyone that wants a challenge and a good old rogue-like, with a modern feel.

So far I love this game it took me 18 hours just to beat the first map. Its challenging game with a surprising amount of depth with the resource management but, in the end the random maps keeps you on your toes. There's a lot of strategy with managing resources, players, science tech, and towers. It's also dungeon crawling at its finest with lots of treasure, exploration, and new characters to find. I highly suggest you buy this game and play it you won't regret it.

I was a little hesitant to buy this game at first, it seemed a little ambitious, but then I played it, and Holly crap is this thing good!

Dungeon of the Endless is phenomenal. With its rogue like elements, always keeping the tension flowing. (even during the first floor!) The sections of RPG like stature, and not to mention the brilliant flushed out strategic thought, is compelling. You will die A LOT! But, surprisingly, you don't get ♥♥♥♥ed off. Everytime you start a new floor (level) it's competely different. So each time you die, and restart, it's like you're playing a new game.

Very few games are quite this flabbergasting.

Dungeon of the Endless is a must-buy, and if you like RPG's, Strategy, Tower Defense, you name it, this game has you covered.

So it had been a while since I'd played Dungeon of the Endless. Last time I'd played I had to stop because I kept getting beaten by my lack of power and supplies, mostly due to my own foolishness. I then ceased playing for a few months. Just today I looked at the title and instantly remembered the love I had for the characters even with the little back-story that you get about them. Upon loading up the game I was amazed at how much more there was. I fell back in love with it, and even though I only made it a few floors that round, I was still dumbfounded by the shear beauty. The amount of effort that has been put in this game to make it what it is. This game is worth the time and the small amount of money that it cost.

This is a very unique 4x-ish, rpg-ish, TD-ish game. It has pretty deep strategy, but rather than a huge scope with hordes of anonymous units this is a small squad of up to 4 distinct members.

I love it. It's a fantastic game, that I highly recommend to anyone who likes strategy games and anyone who is normally put off by the somewhat impersonal nature of grand scale strategy games. This is intimate and original.

this game tries to be too many genres at once and ends up being pure RNG on a level beyond what roguelikes traditionally are

it's practically unplayable, by which i mean it is unplayable in a practical sense involving meaningful levels of reliable feedback to actions of player agency

it's roguelike, but you need to split resources in ways that you can't even begin to INDIRECTLY strategise because even the merchant has RNG for which resource he uses as currency

it's tower defense, but waves will appear between doors opening

it's RPG, but there's too much going on between your resource-splitting and location-splitting to even be worth paying attention to

every single thing is a random resource sink and nothing is viable for more than two rooms in a row no matter what you do

if you like any of these genres, wait for the final release, otherwise save your money for a game that has some semblance of design focus and viable tactics/strategy

I just didn't really like this game. It was like a more tedious version of ftl. There should be permanent upgrades that you can unlock after you die.

Missleading game, didn't inform the buyer that it's perma-death and lack in game save. Hope to see a save mode that allow game progression and more casual dungeon exploration.

I been playing for many hours and i have noticed 2 glitches sense i been playing! 1! there seems to be a glitch when you pick up the orb...your heros who don't have the orb will poop out and barely move! if you put the non-orb carrier's outside the exit your screwed because the enemys might end up going +20 on your heros killing them because the orb glitches them out! or 2! the monsters glitch out SOOO badly they get stuck in their room meaning...if the room with a box has mobs...all you got to do is run in shoot the mobs and take the box -.- the orb needs a massive fix because this becomes an issue in the long run because you will break your heros into 2 groups...scouts and tanks...or other words...path breakers and door openers and i noticed the only classes of heros that matter are the ones with guns because they don't die so easyly and you never need a melee person because theres 2 HEAVY's in the game that do massive jobs in protecting the orb at all casts you will notice them right off the bat...1 looks like sammy from metroid the other looks like rambo in a way cuz his shirtless and carrys a shotgun them are the only heros i start out as and they never die and by never i mean never if well managed it seems only the gun heros are the only people who are good at protecting paths to the orb(so you know orb=crystal) there needs to be a balance between the melee and the guns because i find the melee classed heros useless i never recruite them unless i want to unlock them and i noticed theres nothing telling you how to play the game like i didn't know art's were used to give you turrets and upgrades of your 4 support slots i went thru 2 WHOLE games without knowing i even noticed there were no use of using the gear bonus one cuz all i ever needed was FOOD nothing else really did much food helped me recruite food helped me heal food helped me level up nothing else mattered cuz it would be a waste so there are many bonuses and disbonuses to the game it needs alot of twinking before i think it be perfect and i REALLY want to play multiplayer! but all in all i recommend this!

The game is fun even if you never played Tower Defense games.

I bought the game for the RPG aspects of it + being a fan of the Endless series and after seeing the Endless Legend being released out of EA I though "well why the hell not".

Worth it if you are into Sci-Fi games and if you never played a Tower Defense game before(like me) you will still find this one enjoyable for a first try on the genre.

I really like the resource management thing/level up system and how things work overall, its still in EA but Its still a fun experience.

Looking forward to the finished product.

Great game, even in it's early access state. I'm generally not a huge fan of roguelikes, but this game has had me hooked for hours. The last stand my heroes made on my first playthrough was nothing short of epic.
