What the developers say:

“Kingdoms Rise has all of its fundamental features working so you can expect a fun playable game straight out of the box.

In the coming weeks and months we will be regularly adding new content such as new armour sets, spells, swords and maps as well as balancing existing content. The amount of content present in this build is in no way final, there is much more on the way!
Looking long term, we hope to add in female knights, team management, guilds and AI for single-player modes.

So why are we releasing as Early Access?
As an indie team of only two people, funded by our own money, we cannot afford to continue developing in private and need to get the game in the hands of players now.
We value our player’s feedback highly and strive to make updates quickly, you have an opportunity to help build this game and make it take shape.
We plan to be in Early Access for about 5 months until we do a full release of the game. By getting the game early you'll be saving money as the price will increase on full release.

We hope you'll join us in making Kingdoms Rise something special!”

I'm a sucker for PVP melee combat games that involve both mind games and skill to win. I bought this game on a whim because I had nothing else much to play after I watched the trailer. it seemed very similar to Dark Souls and I was especially intrigued in the spells + sword fighting gameplay.

First thought was, "damn, why is this game so bright?" but the game is beautiful. Some things aren't texturized that well and the game is full of glitches, bugs and inconsistencies but that is what an early access is about. Things will be fixed and as of yesterday, a patch has already been released acknowledging many inconsistencies and imbalances.

Using the mouse to aim the direction of sword swings isn't unheard of, but I think the game does it well, and with the addition of bows, throwing axes, mines and magical spells, it adds alot of depth to the game. Discovering what types of spells go with which swords or abilities is fun and experimental and there are many different combinations to tinker with.

All in all, I think this game has so much potential right now. If FlyLeaps studios could make the sword play a little more responsive, (sometimes, hits do not register), add a duel-mode similar to that of chivalry, and some more content (including more spells, swords, maps etc.) this game will be big hit that will most likely appeal to a competitive community.

Another early access game with plenty of potential behind it, especially since it is developed by solely a two man team at the moment. It boasts 360 directional attacks and parrying with swords. While this may be a dreamland for swordplay, one must not forget the dark fantasy background it has by including magic. It's a game that's still currently rough around the edges, however still manages to be enjoyable.

This game may not be for everyone due to the amount of work it still needs. As this game is in Early Access, the developers do want you to report problems and make suggestions on their Kingdoms Rise Community Hub. So if you can make constructive feedback with some research, why not pitch in to help out?

While still very early and basic in the design the core of the game being its combat is a whole lot of fun but please for the love of god start working on the menus.

A work in progress... but IT has so much potential!!! Its a lot of fun with just a two-four people, and its a lot of fun with a large group. (That's a big bonus) The controls take a little while to get used to: BUT take forever to master completely. Learning when to block and when to attack. Not only that: BUT HOW TO BLOCK and where to attack can be tricky. MY BIGGEST complaint: is how SLOW you run. IT makes you feel heavily armored. However... it really slows the pace of the game down. Increasing the speed a little bit will make this game bad ♥♥♥. Getting that first double, then triple kill makes this game addictive because while your character can't move super fast. That doesn't mean: the action is slow when you enter the melee fringe. THE ♥♥♥♥ HITS THE FAN REALLY FAST!
