Update: For those of you buying this solely for multiplayer, EA has shut down all online services for BF2. You now must use something like GameRanger to play with your buddies.

While it has everything that made the original great, Battlefield 2 builds on that formula and makes everything that much better. The modern setting makes for something us younger folks can more relate to, and just makes for all around faster firefights. Vehicles such as the assault buggy let you whip around the field of battle far faster than the jeeps and bikes of the original, and tanks pack more of a punch this time around.

Maps are varied, and go from sandblasted desert towns to heavy combat on a highway interchange. There's super small maps with tight spots, and large open ones where dueling tank battles across empty fields are commonplace, and fun as all heck. The amount of equipment on display is awesome, with accurate modeling for all the weapons and heavy metal.

Graphically, Battlefield 2 is a massive step forwards for the series, and it looks nothing like the original. The game ran great on the ancient computer I used to have, and just screams along on the hardware of today. The game is, at this point, starting to age, but it still looks and plays just fine.

I definitely recommend this one. You can't really go wrong with any game from the Battlefield series - there's a reason so many gamers have played them.

Much like the real military, Battlefield 2 is not just a game, it’s a way of life.Graphically it's stunning to behold, geographically vast to explore and whereas the first two games in the series were typified by the anarchic rushes for armour, BF2 promotes and rewards altruism and teamwork like no other. When people get together and play as a team, the game truly shines.A thrilling testament to how great PC gaming can be. It's finely tuned maps and balanced gameplay prove that you can improve on perfection. One of the strongest multiplayer shooters on the market. With classes that compliment each other, a brilliant squad system, and fast, furious gameplay, Battlefield 2 is about as much fun as online shooters get.

Amazing game, one of the best online FPS games ever released for PC. But EA is shutting down the online services June 30th, 2014, so I cannot recommend buying it, at least until the community find a work around for this.

This game is really awesome.
With Project Reality mod it's even better.
You can buy it for 4.99 $ on sales and it's really nice compared to full price 14.99 $ :)
If you have problems with Punkbuster kicking you, just download newest setup from their site and your problem is fixed.
I suggest everyone to buy this game and download Project Reality Mod.

Battlefield 2 is an amazing game , and if you like this genre you could play for hours over hours and to not get bored from it ,

And if you add the Project Reality and other cool mods , you can enjoy this game for long time.

The mods are pretty easy to install and there is a site with a lot of mods and tutorials on how to install them

This game is for sure a 10/10 game , and if you consider yourself one of the players in the shooter genre , you should definitely try this game

Now don't get me wrong, Battlefield 2 is a good game, it's combined arms gameplay is very enjoyable and the infantry combat is mostly fine, but it isn't without its problems.
Big maps like Dragon Valley make people left without vehicles feel useless. Vehicles have some balance problems, while tanks and other land vehicles are mostly fine most air vehicles are hopelessly overpowered and a good helicopter pilot and gunner can sometimes be an unstoppable deathmachine. Infantry combat also has an unfortunate habit of turning into nade spamfest on some infantry maps.
While Battlefield 2 isn't the best game of the series,(2142 takes that spot imo) i still recommend to buy it if you haven't.(its only like 5 € and has awesome mods too.)
