If i could, i'd give this game a neutral score, but i really can't bring myself to like it.
The graphics are nice, the voice acting was good, the sounds and music weren't bad, but i still can't like this game.

I played and enjoyed nearly all of the Sonic 2D titles, but this game was simply frustrating. Most levels you just have to blindly press forward and jump to pass, but at any point you can just find yourself stuck and either can't figure out where to go, or how to move forward. I'm not the best of players (died 161 times) but some bosses just seem to need way too much luck and perseverence to kill.

Great old school platform fun. In a world of Call of Duty, this is like a refreshing moment of nostalgia. :D

+) A very straightforward game.
+) Unexpected drama. Story was actually very interesting.
+) Easy Controlling.
+) Vast selection of difficulties.
+) I like how you can choose between two characters to play with.

-) It is straightforward but it can use a good map guide. I kept asking myself. "Am I going to the right way? You just need to go forward yes, but am I?"

For all of its beginner mistakes, none of them detract from how ambitious, enthusiastic, and confident Freedom Planet truly is. It refuses to rest on its laurels for a second, presenting fresh ideas with reckless abandon. Do yourself a favor and try the demo, at the very least.

This was a wonderful gift from one of my friends!
The game is AMAZING, and I love the plot! Plus, it's easy to speed-run, but hard to master.
If you like Sonic-like games, this is the game for you! This is a TRUE nod to the Sonic franchise, and honestly, I think the sequel will be even better!

At least for me, this game took everything that was GOOD about the original Sonic games and mostly ironed out everything that didn't really work, like the way those games did health, or the speed running aspects. This game feels like a really fun speed game without that having to factor into the way you play the game at all if you don't want it to. There are multiple characters who have move sets based on other Genesis platformers, the main character playing in a similar fashion to Sparkster.

The stages and the bosses are generally very well designed, and there's only one boss I can really say I don't enjoy the design of at all (the one in the thermal base), and that one isn't necessarily a a hindrance so much as it's a bit bland mechanically and far too easy in an already very forgiving game. That would be the rating I'd give for the difficulty: fairly forgiving as long as you're not going for time.

The story is very saturday morning cartoon cheesy. I'd say it's endearing about half of the time and slightly embarassing the other half, but if you like the description that the first sentence of this paragraph gave you'll probably find it okay. If you don't, there is a classic mode that almost completely removes cutscenes from the game, with the level design being straightforward enough to not warrant needing context anyways.

I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel.

This game pulls inspiration from a wide array of Sega Genesis titles, including Rocket Knight Adventures, Ristar, and, of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. The story feels like you're watching a cartoon TV show from the 90's. The music is gorgeous. The bosses are fun. I would buy it again.

Although the game has some rough edges. For example, there is no way to save during the level. Which is kinda annoying. Also I thought that some of the boss fights went on a bit longer then needed to be. But overall the game is pretty good. It is a cute retro platformmer that has an interesting mix of Mario, Megaman and Sonic influences. Caroll and Lilac are fun to play as. So, yeah go out and buy it.

In a way, Freedom Planet is to Genesis platformers what Shovel Knight is to NES platformers. It takes everything good from that era of games, and uses it as a foundation to build a fresh experience. It's fast, flashy, has great music and an adorable art direction. Both Lilac and Carol control tightly while having a great sense of momentum, and levels compliment this in a great way. Combat is a bit diverse, just enough to make fighting through enemies and bosses feel as fluid as progressing through a level does. The story may be hit and miss for some (I personally didn't mind it), but I don't think that is enough to detract anyone from enjoying this game. On top of cutscenes being skippable, there's also a "classic" mode that allows you to play through the game without any interruptions. Overall, Freedom Planet hits all the right notes, without ever overstaying its welcome.

A pretty good StH-like game with an interesting moveset, soundtrack and overall aesthetics, you can definitely see the devs put a lot of effort into this game. I highly recommend playing this game in normal mode (it's on easy mode by default) cause it's pretty intense and you'll die a bunch but it doesn't feel too unfair.

Just completed the game and what a game it was, if you liked Sonic The Hedgehog and Sparkster on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis then this game is for you also the soundtrack is absolutely outsanding.

The level designs and pixel art are a nice touch as well as the voice acting and for a game made by fans of the platforming genre they have delivered on hell of a good game so i highly reommend this game you shall not be disappointed well if you love platformers you won't

The Stage 8 boss can combo you like it's a pro Smash Bros. Melee player on crack cocaine, resulting in many lives to be lost and many Game Overs to be had. This ♥♥♥♥face can go shove a rusted pole up its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ until it comes out the other side and it can then go burn in hell. It would save everyone a lot of trouble if it did that.
11/10 would have to buy replacement keyboard and mouse again over a game about a furrys wet dream.

[EDIT]: Finally beat it after about 6-7 Game Overs to find that this little ♥♥♥♥ is only a Mid-Boss. Yes, a MID-BOSS!!! The actual boss of the level is miles easier than this guy but they were still a challenge. Oh and btw, THIS GUY APPEARS AGAIN LATER AS WELL!! Ok, he is easier than this first time, but he did manage to take many of my lives again...
