Having played Cabela's in the past this game was a giant leap forward in both gameplay and stunning graphics. If you've ever wanted to know what its like to track down game and understand the aspects of hunting this is as close as it gets to being there. Each of the 4 regions has its unique game and each animal its own characteristics.Has a option to restart a hunt at any time if the hunt has gone bad. Many weapons and optics to purchase with Gear Points earned from your hunting skills.Has an X-Ray and diagnostics bullet tracking that reminds me of Sniper Elilte V2 and 3.Each region also allows you to free hunt aside from its required hunts and optional side quests.Simpley put an outstanding game with 50-100 hours of gameplay .Bought it on sale at 75% off an outstanding deal.

Recommended - A *GOOD* hunting game!
(Warning: There are reports of the game breaking for people when reaching the fourth map, and some of it breaking after 30 hours of play. The devs have apparently ignored these reports to work on DayZ or something. How this happens is apparently still unknown and no fix, even uninstalling and reinstalling, is available.)

It's amazing how good this is compared to other hunting games out there, especially the almost Call of Duty like previous instalments of Cabela's games. In this one, you don't get to run in shooting everything. Animals are skittish and will run if they sense danger. You will need to be stealthy, sneak up on your prey while paying attention to the wind and cover, and avoid rustling leaves or making sound. Once in position, you will often only get one shot as the animals don't stick around.

This game made me feel more like a sniper than Sniper Elite, with bonus points for making good, clean shots at vital organs that don't hurt the animal as much and a penalty for shooting the gut(An incredibly painful place to get shot and it can taint the meat), and a decently large area to hunt in. The game feels both big enough to make it feel like you're going places, and small and populated enough that you won't have to walk for hours just to get to the action.
Once you take a shot, the bullet cam will show you exactly how it went and what you hit, allowing you to easily figure out what you did right and what you did wrong so you can learn from it.

Things it could do better?
At this point, I'd actually be okay with an expansion or DLC for extra maps and animals, or just plain more guns to use. (Maybe gun rebalancing too, the bigger ones are almost all better)
Maybe add the bullet cam for small critters.
Perhaps allow climbing rocks for a vantage point(No climbing or jumping in the game)

Honestly, aside from the problems with crashing and then not being able to start it up again that some people have, it's pretty good. I'm still a bit surprised to say it, but here's a hunting game that's actually good and fun to play

Utilize stealth and cover tactics to track game on the beautiful landscapes of North America, hunting everything from frightened rabbits to ferocious grizzly bears.

if you liked the sniper games you'll enjoy this too as it has a similar bullet cam and impact to vitals of wich you will be judged . i shot a grizzly bear in the bum =0 points he got angry and charged it took 3 12 guage slugs to stop him!!. looks beautiful , really nice game , hours of gameplay . i finished it in 29 hrs . some people have had issues playing over 30 . i would never hunt animals or nazis in real life .

I bought it cause it was on sale and don't regret it at all. It's my first hunting game and I have to admit, it took me a little while to get into it but after about an hour I was hooked. It's like any sim which you gain points/money to upgrade your gear so you have more options for the many different types of challenges. You actually need some skill to do it right and the game does a great job making you learn the proper way to hunt in order to help max out the credits for better and different gear.

Like others, I did run into some problems with my saves after unlocking region 4, I had to re-purchase some gear that I already owned. There was also an area I was in where my FPS went down to 1 but managed to get out of there and the game ran fine. It is a bit buggy but only in region 4.

I think I paid like $5 for this game a while ago and it has been worth it for sure, even with the end game bugs.

I purchase this Sept 20th or 21st, 2014. Played it a lot and it ran flawlessly. Best graphins of any hunting game out there... Now, that being said, one day last week I played it once in the morning and then that same afternoon, it would not start. Right after the "Preparing to launch Cabela's Big Game Pro Hunts", nothing...

I tried all the following without success:
~Windows update
~DirectX update
~Video Drivers update
~System restore (date prior to launching issue)
~Uninstalled & reinstalled... twice

Tried numerous times to contact Steam tech supprot, but when you plug in what game the issue is with, you're redirected to Activision. Then with Activision in order to get tech support, you have to select the game you're having the problem with from a list. The game "Cabela's Big Game Hunter Pro Hunts" is not on their list????

I was finally able to get a trouble ticket on file with Steam last Thursday (10/09/14), but have not heard anything back.

Frustrated !!!

The game has stopped working at 3 hrs. I re-downloaded it and it still will not start. Help from Steam does not exist. If I could get a refund for all the Steam games in my library that never worked, don't work or stopped working I could probably buy me a car by now.

pretty good game though the aiming is a bit weird but you get used to it after awhile, most shots are best taken 50-120 yard unless you got 338 with 3-12 scope

The best Cabela's hunting game to date.
Massive maps, very nice graphics and slo-mo x-ray bullet impacts. Relatively easy achievements. Good replayability.
This is a must own for hunting-game fans. If in doubt then buy it on a special. worth it.

I found this game to be too easy. The only way I managed to enjoy it was sitting in a stand, getting wasted IRL and pecking off animals. Maybe the game would be cooler if there was a cheney mode where you could accidently shoot people hunting with you. . . .

This game is no where near the potential and awe that "thehunter" is, but since 2005, Cabelas actually got one of their games right.

This game breaks everything down into 4 zones, and you progress through rifles throughout each zone... which can be kind of frustrating. Yay, got the best gun at the end of the game.... guess I'll just go shoot random stuff for no reason but enjoyment... slow... meager... enjoyment.

If you want to be part of a community that is growing with the game, and you dont mind paying about $6 a month, definately try out "thehunter." Which is another game that can be found on steam. If you'd rather spend one price and have it until you're at the end and theres nothing more to do... then ya, this game is for you.
