About This Game

Nether is a fast-paced survival game that forces you to make quick life-saving decisions in an unforgiving environment. In this post-apocalyptic urban world, death is waiting around every corner, at the top of high-rise buildings, and in the grasp of powerful teleporting creatures known as 'Nethers'. These creatures and the other players are real challenges to overcome, requiring tactical gameplay, awareness, stealth, and cooperation. To navigate this high-tension environment, you must use skill and cunning in order to scavenge, trade, craft or loot for food, weapons, supplies, and other resources necessary to stay alive in a desolate and dangerous city. Team up with other survivors and take advantage of group play, as a tribe, to complete treacherous world objectives, or play as a lone wolf in an attempt to endure the hostile environment. In the end you must decide whether to Prey or Pray.

Key Features

EXPLORE
The game's landscape is a beautifully conceived vision of a post apocalyptic Chicago, ravaged by disaster and time. Almost every low and high-rise building can be individually explored in a cityscape that stretches 150 blocks. Beyond the city lies the Wastelands, an unforgiving desolate landscape that is slowly sinking into the earth.

SURVIVE, CRAFT, TRADE, LOOT AND SHOOT
Start off, armed only with a kitchen knife and scavenge your way through an environment on a daily battle to stay alive. Beware the Nether, poor mutated souls who roam the city in search of human flesh. Scavenge for food and water to stay nourished, and search for useful items that could be crafted into makeshift weapons to help in your battle for life. Hunt and kill Nether to trade their body parts to the mysterious Cult located in the few markets that scatter the city. Over time, build up your skills and earn rewards for surviving each precious new day. But always beware of the other survivors who may be only one moment away from death, and see killing you and looting your possessions as their only salvation.

TRIBES AND TERRITORY WARS
Find safety in numbers by joining a tribe. Only tribes can capture and own territory, and the urban landscape is the perfect setting for turf domination. Compete with rival tribes in territory wars for control of the city by capturing strategic landmarks to reap resources and experience; prove your dominance over all other tribes. Spy on rival tribes or infiltrate and kill them by playing as a Nether. Ambush them from above by swooping in for the kill using the wing suit. Tribes change the survival experience by establishing a true social construct, with all the consequences of behavior that you would expect in the real world. Your actions have real repercussions enforced organically through reputation and standing.

PLAYER AND GROUP MISSIONS
Players can complete an assortment of individual or group missions to earn money, experience and reputation. Perform vital supply runs between the markets, work with your tribe to take down the swarms of Nether lead by the vicious boss Reaper that sporadically surge to attack neighborhoods, or keep the creatures out of the Safezones by working in groups to repair the anti-nether devices when they fail.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION
Nether offers a wide variety of character customization and allows you to play as a male or female character. There is a huge selection of cosmetic items and player taunts to assert your individuality along with entire outfits to play roles like survivalist, soldier and biker - or even just play in your underwear.

While Nether would have gotten a negative review from me 2 weeks ago, since they've started banning hackers the game has drastically improved going from 'dam he had an aimbot' over to 'my aim was better'. While the game does have a decent learning curve if your not used to this genre, it becomes really fun once you learn how the Nether world works finding weapons, food, and ammo, as well as dispatching most nether's with ease. Would recommend if you have a friend that can play with you, and if not solo is still pretty damn fun!

If you do read any reviews for this game, make sure they are november 2014 or newer, thats when bans started~

I usually don't write reviews out of lazyness, but after reading a couple here I feel like I should.
A lot of reviews mention hackers being a problem, which was very very true and very very annoying. Keyword was. Since VAC support was enabled a couple days ago (early November '14 for distant future readers), I have yet to see one -- which makes the game fair and playable in the first place.
It's similiar to DayZ, but puts less emphasis on realism and is more action-horror-y. Falling 15 feet won't cripple you until you find meds, you just lose some HP which can be healed with any sort of medical item.

Food/Hunger is a thing, but easily maintained.

There's a bunch of different Nether, some of which you can comfortably melee once you get your way around the combat system, others I wouldn't take on with a sniper rifle and 500 meters between us.

Like in other games, Death comes cheap. You can try to be friendly, sure, but odds are you'll get shot and your corpse looted. Goodbye to your stuff and your XP.

Yes, XP. Playing earns you XP - Character XP and Account XP. Character XP are reset every time you die, but fairly easy to get. If you know what to do you can reach level 30 in an hour or so. Every level up gives you a stat point which you can invest in any of your six skill trees, all of which give a perk at level 1, 4 and 10. You don't have to finish or abandon one as you go, you can mix it up as you want.
Account XP are permanent and give you minor but helpful bonuses, a rather early one is +20 HP for example (for reference, you start with 1000).

All in all I'd definitely recommend at least trying it out, and if 10 bucks is too much for you wait until it's on sale (probably will be during Winter Sales) and grab it for threefiddy

DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. GAME.

-It has been abandoned by its creators and developers.
-There's is no PVE encouragement. If someone wants to go apeshite on you or anyone else, THEY DO.
-ITS IDEA IS HIGHLY ADDICTING BUT THE FACT THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE PVE IS REALLY FRUSTRATING.
-Oh, I just spent 15 "PREMIUM CURRENCY" COINS to buy TREASURE CHEST KEYS for PREMIUM TREASURE CHESTS SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE GAME.
WELL GUESS F*CKING WHAT.
Non-payer *slash* hacker *slash* CoD ladyboy is casually going to walk behind me, shoot me in the back of the head and walk away with the loot.
-THERE'S A F*CKING MILLION RUSSIANS. THAT ♥♥♥♥ IS WORSE THAN IN DOTA 2.
-HACKERS DO NOT GET PUNISHED FOR HACKING IN THIS GAME.
-Zero support.
-Zero bug fixing.
-Zero display of moderating in-game whatsoever.

HONEST RATING BY AN HONEST CUSTOMER:

-Graphics: 7/10
-Gameplay: 1/10
-HUD/Interface friendliness: 4/10
-Support: 0/10

Overall: 3/10. Not even trying to be a Steam game. Why has GaybeN still not wiped Nether off Steam.

P.S.: When overPVPers start getting banned, that's when Gameplay will be improved. BAN THE PVPERS. BAN THE F*CKING KIDS. SINCERELY, EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO START OVER EVERY ONE HOUR EVER. Or implement a way to SAVE inventory and/or EXP gained.

Current developers (Pure FPS) don't give a f.uc.k about the game.
Cheaters are not being banned.
PVE is useless. This game is completely about PVP survival in apocalypse atmosphere of Chicago among Nether mutants.
New anti-cheat they promised was never released.

I'm saying that I recommend this game only because this game deserves being played and have some attention, but not the awful devs who currently on charge. I love and I'm loyal to Nether itself. Unfortunately I don't recommend you to buy it untill the devs will be changed again or Pure FPS will really do at least something to make the game better and to clean it from cheaters. Just don't fund their laziness!

Pre-Release Review
99% Objective Review of Nether Aside From The Recommend/Don't Reccomend Feature.

Nether is a game that you pay for with money. It is currently in early access. It contains survival RPG elements in a post apocalyptic city. The main antagonist in the game is called the Nether. This Nether can be controlled by players, which contradicts sight and hearing of the creatures. There is an in game shop where you can buy gold with real money to purchase in game items. You can die in this game. When you die, you lose all of your gear, even the gear you paid for. This game was reviewed by Behr11. He gave it a numbers out of a number.

Do you like the apocalypse? Do you want something other than DayZ to quench your thirst for zombie blood? Then go find a different game because this literally will not boot up! Spend two and a half hours of your life searching the net for a way to get it to work then give up and go play literally anything else.

Nether's gameplay is pretty cool. But that's not what this review is about. The launcher is laughable, if not, totally a mess. I have an account with playnether.com and when I try to go to the site, it gives an error that says that it's https certification has run out about 56 days ago (90 for forums). If that doesn't say much, then I don't know. Actually, I can't even connect my steam account with my playnether account because it keeps asking for authorization, which I've pressed maybe 8-10 times or more. The launcher is completely broken and the account management is laughable. You can't even link your steam account to your playnether on the website! HA. This game is amateur at best, and lacks what it tries to accomplish. I like how the game is in 1st person, but I can easily do that on DayZ. This game falls short in comparison to DayZ and unless the launcher/steam link is fixed, I have no use for these 5x72 hour guest passes that I won't recieve for the 50 Nether Gold. Go figure.

This game had good potential but was washed down the drain by the developers,
I regret buying it, the game is full hackers, many bugs, almost no loot to find and gets very boring quickly.

This may be the worst game I have ever played. It is ugly (nowhere near the advertising screenshots), the menus are complicated and the controlls feel cheap. I had more fun playing DayZ on my old laptop on 1024x768 resolution and 10FPS than on this with max settings.

This is the new version of call of duty ...

If you dont want to die while having pile of stuff with you after efforts of many days from a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bandit dont buy this game, it is pay to win as it is already.

Wherever you respawn there is someone spawnkilling and takes all the money you got, happened to me every single time i respawned.

I know this review is too absolute but this is how it is for me.

When I saw this game, I thought it would be immensly fun. Scavenging a ravaged city for supplies and weapons, food. Basically staying alive. I am a huge fan of the survival genre you see. But, what did I get with this game?

To be completely honest. This game is wasted potential. I played it from a very early stage, and since then, they've added literally nothing. Oh sure, they added a new area. But walk 5 feet there, and you fall through the map. I remember one time, I logged in, I was basically in spectator mode, flying about and watching everyone. The game is broken beyond redemption.

Do the developers listen to the community? Hardly. Do they address any of the bugs, map glitches and hacking? Do they fix them? Absolutely not. The original creators of the studio ( who made WarZ, AKA, Infestation: Survivor Stories ), actually stopped doing anything with the game and handed it over to a new studio! That sure does tell you what they think of their game.

The graphics are quite decent, but the game is so unoptimised. There is little to no story or plot as to why the city is ravaged.

3/10. Please. Do yourself a favour, and spend your money on something else. It just isn't worth it.
