I found myself wanting to pick up a good racing game recently. Whilst contemplating the thought of newer games I decided to revisit a classic which I originally owned when it was released in 2008. Besides, at just £1 for the ultimate edition it was an absolute steal to be able to play this game again. I was also surprised to find ENB & SweetFX configuration for this, so the graphics were given a much appreciated boost! Time to release my inner adrenaline junky one more time..

So this game makes you do two things, which I very much love: drive fast and destroy things! Any faults? Probably the fact that I takedown too many cars that they stop spawning! Drive fast, hit harder!

Pre-Release Review
Burnout Paradise is an intense arcade racer with spectacular crashes. The graphics are beautiful, the world is open and grandiose, and the races are mixed and varied. The difficulty levels range from super easy to absolutely difficult and there are a bunch of collectables throughout the entire open city for you to collect. One of the best racing games I've ever played. Get it and have fun.

Game is good but I would recommend Flatout Ultimate Carnage over it. Has more mini games and less of a grind.

Paradise city is an open world crash-em-up racer. You drive around town which has available races/crashes/time trails and races. As you progress through the game, you are able to choose different cars in your garage. Most cars require you to crash the actual racers car you find driving around free roaming in the city. The game like I said is nice to play (with different vehicles such as motorcycles) but in my personal opinion is missing that umph factor when hitting opponents. The damage scheme is great, however the impact engine doesn't let you feel how hard you are hitting another car. For that reason I would have to recommend flatout over this game.

Average 7/10. If you like what you see then I recommend it, if you want a racing game with a bit more depth and challenges I'd go for Flatout.

Drive TONS of cars (and bikes!), listen to awesome music, win races, do stunts, crash objects, roam free, feel like a badaßß.
It's all there and more!

£1.24 you say? Awesome game, might be old but still brings the fun at a great price. Only downside, not enough Squirrel related content.

Great arcade racing game. The only bad thing is that I seem to be unable to get the DLCs, but that barely bothers me.

The game itself is good. Really good. If you buy this, you're buying a good game, but I can't recommend it given how Steam is falsely advertising content that is no longer available in this game. You're not buying Burnout Paradise+All DLC, you're buying just Burnout Paradise. That's unacceptable.

I got this game because it is the "Ultimate box" version. It's not very ultimate at all. There is NO big surf island included which to be honest was the main reason for me purchassing it.

No surf island.

No likey.

Not Ulitmate at all.

Research before you buy cause you still can't get Big Surf Island for pc at all except for a fan mod. and you still have to buy all the extra cars for another $10.

Pretty much just the stock game with bikes and the game is no longer supported by the developer anyway.

I am not a fan of racing games. I didn't like Need for Speed, Forza or Project Gotham but i can honestly say that Burnout Paradise is one of my alltime favourite games.

Pro's:

Beautiful graphics
Runs well on low end PC's
The way of unlocking cars by running them off the road
An excellent blend of licensed songs (mainly rock based) and studio made ones
intense races
Loads of hidden routes and a amazing hidden stunt park (airfield)
The slow Motion crash scenes never get old

Cons:
Their are really only 5 racing destinations
More experienced Racers than me might find the Race gamemode to easy
The marked man cars tend not to follow you through hidden routes
Takedown gamemode is easy but really fun

Conclusion:
If you are a hardcore racing gamer then this game is probably not for you. If you are someone that is not a fan of racing games then this game will suffice for 8 Hours+ of gametime.

"Take me down To the Paradise City where the sign is green and the cars are pretty. I want you please, take me home!"

(The play hours are low because this is my second purchase of the game after my first physical copy was broken [and the last installed game were removed long time ago] and I felt I wanted to be a bit nostalgic after I saw the Steam discount).

So, Burnout Paradise is essentially a Burnout game, but with open world areas that become an ultimate playground of destruction. I essentially love this games and I wanna describe it in some form of pros and cons:

Pros:
- OPEN WORLD, BABY! This is what many Burnout fans wanted for a long time!

- Vehicles variety. Besides a bunch of muscle cars, sports cars, super cars, and track cars, there are many everyday cars to choose from. You want to drive a sedan? You got it! Want to fool around in a van? There, have some awesome van! Want to haul your family in a station wagon? We got that for you!

- Rewarding activities. Besides racing, road rage, stunt run, burning routes, and marked man, you can have plenty of side activities that sure are rewarding! form smashing billboards and gates, stunt jump, beating record time on certain streets, and also, my favourite, showtime! Which will be explained on the next point.

- SHOWTIME! It's basically a good ol' crash event since Burnout 3, but there are no Crashbreaker. You use your boost to lift your car and move it around. Hitting traffic will refill your boost, and the best part is? YOU CAN ACTUALLY HAVE UNLIMITED SPACE TO DO YOUR SHOWTIME! You can basically start a Showtime at E. Crawford Dr. and end up with your boost tank empty at the South Bay Expressway, which is from north point of Paradise to the south point of it!

- Diverse driving physics. Every cars in the game handles differently, which is a plus point for added realism. For example, when you drive the Carson 500GT, The car handles very slippery and each time you gas it, the rear tire will turn vigorously. But, when you drive cars like Carson Grand Marais, it handles like a boat. Hard to steer, and require e-brake to turn it sharply.

- Day and night cycle. YES! There's finally a day and night cycle for thhis game, and it's a plus point for it!

Cons:

- Racing. What is lacking from the racing segment of the game is that you can only have point-to-point race in this game, There is no circuit mode which I kinda missed from the previous Burnout game.

- Paintjob. Ugh. I pretty much dislike paintjobs on certain cars in the game. Wish there is an option to choose "no-paintjob" in certain vehicles.

- Traffic variety. Many of us know that there were semi truck, industrial trucks, and RVs in the game. But unfortunately, these were cut content, and it's a shame that they were cut them. It adds plenty of realism if those were added (and also adds plenty vehicles to wreck in Showtime mode).

Overall, it's a great game, alhough there are some lackings, but those are covered with the pros that given.
