Spore: Galactic Adventures is the expansion pack for the evolution/civilization/genocide simulator, Spore. You can find my review for the original game here.
In Spore, reaching the Space Stage meant you could never leave your spaceship, ever. That, and the habit SOME PEOPLE had of making their creatures look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
was basically its main flaw.Though, you are allowed to ban creations from your game and people who keep getting creations banned are at risk of getting banned from online play.
Spore: Galactic Adventures adds Adventures, special missions that require you to beam down to planets with your customized space captain and (possibly) your crew for an RPG-style Adventure.
Since the game lets you jump straight into player-created and developer-created Adventures through the main menu, I played through Adventure Town, the Adventure to introduce you to the possibilities of the Adventure Creator.
I was beamed down onto the LSD-fueled Adventure Town.Annoying music plays in the background, there's the occasional rainbow, every single NPC is dancing, and to start, you talk to the mayor, who is a toad/frog with a large moustache. His two assistants are busty frog women in flower bikinis, for some reason
You go around and talk to people who demonstrate stuff to you and eventually Captain Amazing (that is his name) says you'll become a great Captain, and the mission is mercifully over.I played some player-made adventures and eventually loaded up my Space Stage game again, soon receiving missions to go on Adventures. Most were fun.
I levelled up my captain a few times, unlocking new equipment for him...until disaster struck.I had received a mission in French.I do not speak French. Why this game gave me a French language mission even though my language setting is clearly English is beyond me.
While the little bullet points in each chapter ("Talk to X, Kill an X") were in English, I had no idea what I was doing nor what any of the dialogue was.I went on an Adventure in Russian, but it had no dialogue and was made to be playable in any language.I have to commend the creator on that.
While the Adventures are fun and you can create your own (you even design the planet
it takes place on), it occasionally gives you a mission to go on an Adventure in a language you may not understand. That is the major flaw.
Oh, and a tip: if you do get this game, do not play the Adventure "Naked Timmy".It's awful.
