Soundodger+ is a game about moving through music.
There are lot of levels with excellent music. Each level is one song during which you must weave in and out of hand-choreographed bullet patterns.Soundodger develop your reaction, but in the same time helps you to relax, especially with great 60fps mode. The music is all original and licensed by an all-star cast of musicians, spanning genres from chiptune, to drum'n'bass, to alt rock. Pleasant listening!

Soundoger+ is an interesting take on the Musical-game market, mashing it with bullet-hell type gameplay to make a fun and quirky little game. A minimalistic stage design combined with bright and contrasting colours allows the player to see every bullet and distinugish it from your "ship" with ease. I found the game suprisingly hard at first , compared to other similar games such as Beat Hazard, but soon got addicted to the challenging gameplay and lovely contrasting colours, and as the stage fires waves of bullets upon you, based upon the tempo, bpm and other characteristics of the song, you have to try and dodge them, and with each hit taken it fastforwards the song. However, on left click you have a 'time-slow' button that allows the player to slow the song down while retaining full movement, but at the cost of not having a multiplier bonus carry through the slow, in order to make the game a bit easier. I found the game suprisingly hard at first , compared to other similar games such as Beat Hazard, but soon got addicted to the challenging gameplay and lovely contrasting colours.

Pros;
Fun, addictive gameplay
Ability to play own music
Clear gameplay.

Cons;
File-selecter takes you out of game, would be nice an in-game one so you can see the colours provided for the stage.
Can be incredibly difficult for beginners, maybe have a difficulty option?

Overall, i would say this a must have if you are into music or bullet-hell games, and with endless replayability i would strongly reccomend this to anyone

But *I think* it should improve your multi-tasking skills, right? Which I don't have :P

Probably one of the greatest rhythm games I've ever played. If this game was free, it would completely decimate Stepmania, Osu!, Audiosurf and everything alike. The level editor could also be a bit better...

A smaller(?) version of this is also available for free as a browser game, but since I got this in a bundle, I have it on Steam. It is a game that I consider useful beyond itself. The way those patterns are designed, it's like training for how to deal with obstacles in life. Knowing when to flow and when to go against the flow, recognizing patterns, and not allowing yourself to be distracted and misled by some patterns. Especially this aspect made me smile more than once, when I noticed how the patterns were trying to throw me off balance.
All this, combined with the music for motivating and appealing even more to the right brain hemi, makes this game a lot more fun to me than for example Super Hexagon, which seems to be all about memorizing and twitch reflexes, while Soundodger is quite the opposite, while also reserving some exceptions from that rule.
Super Hexagon feels like punishment. Soundodger feels like learning, growing.

(Just to be on the safe side though: I wrote this review before trying the high difficulties.)

Worth the money for the soundtrack alone....

Samurai Gunn by Doseone, Katapult by Mike Forst, Fields and Reaches by Delasaurus, Chronoplast Skin by Lifeformed and Overdose by Northbase are insanely good tracks. The other 20+ tracks are a high quality mix of chiptunes, Danny Baranowsky, ambient, orchestral, dubstep and Nuclear Throne.

The gameplay itself is fairly familiar with game name perfectly describing the gameplay. Sound dodger, you dodge shapes representing the sound generated by the background music.

It's one third bullet hell, one third free-form super hexagon and one third addictive chillout rhythm game with the option to import your own tracks into the game, a level editor, a level share option and leaderboards. Borealis more recently offered a similar experience. The music sets Soundodger+ apart.

**MOTION SICKNESS WARNING**

Let's just get that right away out front. I usually do not suffer from motion sickness in video games. But the stark contrast of dark colors rotating rapidly, back and forth, on a white background was enough to make even my eyes and stomach cry mercy after little more than half an hour of play. If you do suffer from motion sickness easily, than this is simply not the game for you.

However, if you aren't subject to that, or play the game in small doses, then this is a pretty fun musical avoidance game. Not unique, but well put together. The music choices are solid. It's easier with a mouse, but there's option to use a controller as well if you have one. There's plenty of songs to unlock, and simply playing through a song once unlocks "Zen mode" where you can basically just have the song play through and not worry about being hit.

One other part that can be annoying for some: The game likes to mess with timing. The things you're trying to dodge can slow down, or speed up, or even reverse, depending on the music. This does make things more challenging. It's somewhat frustrating, because an integral part of dodging is being able to time things. On the other hand, it does make for a bit more uniqueness in the game, and makes it just a little more challenging in those moments.

Pick the game up when it's on sale, but grab the soundtrack too - though it only has about half the songs.

1st thing's 1st: This game can be rage enducing. That is by no mean bad, however. This game is largely based off of skill and 0% luck, so if anyone says that it is unfair, feel free to knock them out. With that out of the way, let's ge to the review.

Beautiful. That is this game. It is simple, sure, but finely tuned to perfection. It has its flaws, but they are flaws that can actually be worked around easily. This game can introduce you to new music, and increase your hand-mouse-eye coordination while entertaining you. It is literally entirely benefit for only $8. My only complaint is that the auto-gen mode is about as good as a ♥♥♥♥-covered donut.

This is a Great Program/Game to play with your own music that you currently have in your music folders but the random generate is not so very good it dosen't go with the music's waves or beat, you have to do that part all on your own but really great game

Pros:
- Extremely fun. I am not extremely good at bullet hell games, but this still managed to entertain me for mainy hours and has a difficulty curve slow enough for me to really enjoy it without getting my ♥♥♥ handed to me by the difficulty
- Great soundtrack. Started only liking a few songs, but now most of the soundtrack is on my playlist. From the joyful and energetic "Foxtail Socks" to the chaotic "I Do. What I Want" to the almost trance-like beat of "Overdose" to the fantasy soundtrack themed "Lost Age".
- Simple concept done well. Pretty self explanitory. It doesn't do a lot but what it does do it does well.
- Level Editor. For those who want to put the effort to mapping their own songs, there is a full featured level editor (that I haven't explored much)

Cons:
- The Auto-gen mode. It is nowhere near as satisfying as playing through the main soundtrack and user-made levels. It isn't anywhere near the quality of other games in this genre like Audiosurf or Beat Hazard

Other notes:
- If you get hit by a note while playing on a Windows 8 machine, the song doesn't speed up and skip a part of the song like it does on windows 7. This might just be a bug, but I honestly prefer the lack of skip. Personal preference I suppose.

Overall: 8.2/10

I barely started playing and I'm already in love with Soundodger+, maybe because I'm addicted to music driven games, but this one is really special! The soundtrack within the game allows you to play what looks like a campaign, unlocking new tracks with your progress, and the music is great, there's even a zen mode to make it even more relaxing! There's also a feature where you can input your music and the game generates a maze for you to play while listening to your favourite songs, how awesome is that? Totally worth it's full price!
