New Character Bundles Arriving!

If you haven't purchased all of the extra characters yet, now is a great time to grab what you're missing.

Valve have very kindly allowed us to put some character bundles together, which offer savings on anything you don't own. There is no way to 'pick and choose' which characters to buy, as there is no system for that, so we've created themed bundles as suggested on this forum a while ago.

For each bundle, you effectively get 3 for the price of 2, or 33% off. So, if you don't own any of the 3, you'll get the 3 for the usual price of 2. If you own 2 already and are just missing 1, you'll get 33% off that 1 character.

Here are the bundles -

Magical Ladies - Illusionist, Apprentice Mage and Black Witch
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/326/

From Mysterious Lands - Genie, Goblin Shaman and Shape Shifter
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/328/

The Tricksters - Jester, Courtesan and Gambler
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/329/

Light and Dark - Martyr, Exorcist and Devil's Minion

Best wishes for Christmas and New Year to All

It's been a busy year here at Nomad Games and we still have much work to do responding to suggestions and fixing problems that crop up. There will be an update coming soon that addresses various issues so we appreciate your patience.

In the meantime, courtesy of Steam, the days over Christmas are a great time to buy any Talisman products and make some savings. We also have Backgammon Blitz, for those of you who like this classic game, and our Seasonal card game, Lapland Solitaire which is fun for all the family.

Thanks again to all those who have supported us by buying Talisman, and all those taking the time to help us refine it. We are extending our license with Games Workshop, which means years of development for the game are now possible. We'll also be looking to see how we can enhance the game itself and there will be news to follow on that front soon.

In the meantime Nomad Games wishes you all the best for the holidays and we look forward to speaking with you all in 2016.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Talisman?
Talisman is a board game in which you move around the board building up your character’s strength and magic power by battling monsters, finding treasures, completing quests and trying to be the first player to reach the centre space – the Crown of Command.

How is Talisman: Digital Edition different to Talisman: Prologue?
Talisman: Prologue is a single-player only game in which you tried to complete a series of challenges using the rules of Talisman. Talisman: Digital Edition is the full board game experience for up to 6 players, using the same rules as the board game.

Can I play dirty?
That’s at the very core of Talisman! Cast spells at other players to make them miss turns! Steal from them! Turn them into toads! Send powerful allies to do your fighting for you!

How replayable is the game?
The emergent nature of the game means that every game will tell its own tale. The board starts with just the playing pieces and builds up to become a land filled with terrible danger and fabulous treasure! As you move around the board, you must make careful decisions about where to travel as each space can become more dangerous or more helpful as the game progresses. To help you get around, players can use things like teleporting, magic portals and fate, which allows you to re-roll your dice to get different results.

How long is a game of Talisman?
The physical board game can take 2-5 hours with 6 players, but our digital version cuts that down drastically, with an offline 6 player game typically taking no more than 1 hour. Offline and online games can be saved and resumed at any time so your adventures can take as long as you like! We’ve also added some features which decrease the length of games – House rules and Runestone cards. House rules change the basic rules slightly to speed-up the game and Runestone cards, exclusive to this digital edition, give characters extra abilities and allow them to become very powerful much quicker, making for shorter games.

Is there a hotseat mode?
Yes! Look your opponents in the eyes as you face them in deadly combat or sneak up from the shadows and steal their favourite items! All of the fun and social enjoyment of the physical game is captured in the digital version, but with no setup time!

What’s included with the base game and are there expansions?
For the initial purchase, everything that you get with the physical board game is included – all of the characters, spells and adventure cards, plus a few bonuses we've added. Expansions will be added and the first six, The Reaper, The Frostmarch, The Dungeon, The Highland, The Sacred Pool and The City are available to purchase now. These add lots more spells, events, monsters, characters and alternative endings! Extra characters are also available to purchase, including rare characters from Talisman’s history.

Another Dice and Board game that bring me back many years....

When I first moved from china to canada 20 years ago.. 4 Games catched my attension instantly.

1. Dungeon and Dragons.
2. Vampire the Masquerade
3. Magic the Garthering
4. Talisman...

Those games didn't need you sit infront of a Console or Computer.. Just grab a bunch of friends and start playing.
They can go on for hours and hours without tiring and great test of your interlect and luck.
I learned a lot of english from those games and without them.. I would have much bigger trouble blend in to english speaking society in school and in community.

Sadly years has past.. The only game I still play out of the 4 is Magic the garthering and I can only do it with a few friends whenever I go back to canada.

Today my passion is in computer games. And I been collecting and playing more games then ever before...

Imaging my surprise that I see Talisman for sell on steam! The day i brought this game.. is the same day that i brought season pass. This game plays exactly like how it was 20 years ago and suck up an insane amount of time each game...

6 player.. 1 board.. May the Dice God Smile upon you!

9/10 for perfect adeptation, wonderful music and even OP characters and cards!

Pretty good implementation of the board game. If you are a fan of the original and crave some old school RNG-ridden and nostalgia-coloured Talisman action, this game will provide a satisfying experience, especially since you can play solo (with bots). AI is ok, although uneven - sometimes surprisingly competent, sometimes disappointingly dumb. Digital version is obviously only a shadow of the social tabletop experience, but certainly beats the cardboard version when it comes to game setup time. ;)

About the only thing I do not like is the reactionary spellcasting system (casting spells as reaction to certain events), which is rather clunky - although I have no idea how it could be done better and not bog the game down.

I am a big fan of the boardgame ever since I was a kid. I wanted this video game for a long time.

I like the game but it has flaws. Here are some of them

-It is way more stable then when it was early accsess, but there are still plenty of glitches to around especsially with spells and new characters.

-There are alot of characters that I recognize and there are alot of overpowered munchkin characters that brake the game. It is good that you have the option to only allow core characters, but I would like if there would be an option to disallow certain characters like the Martyr, Black Witch etc.

-I would like a workshop, so people could make custom boards, cards, characters etc. Even tough there is alot of content released, I would enjoy for example a mod where you can replace the art with the original oldschol art.

-Even tough the game is a skill based game, there is alot of luck involved. At times it feels like you are playing the odds at poker. I like it but some might not.

At the end tough this is a solid boardgame adaptions, with some flaws, but its fun overall. If you are a fan of Fantasy themed board games like Hero Quest or Descent give this one a go.

I just love Talisman played 2 ed when I was young, when FFG got the rights I was hooked again. Got all the expansions and I am a keen gamer and poster on FFG Talisman forum with all the other Talisman nutters. The DE is great for playing against other free minded gamers. My only gripe is the rules are a little different to the boardgame itself - like the Limited Resoures Rule. But with custom game options and a good lot of gaming friends the multi-player rocks. Got to hand it to Nomad to take the leap and create this fantastic boardgame into a digital format.

Bring on the expansions I say and let the Talisman flow. But remember I bags the Leprechaun.
