In Viscera Cleanup Detail, you step into the boots of a space-station janitor tasked with cleaning up after various horrific sci-fi horror events. Instead of machineguns and plasma-rifles, your tools are a mop and bucket. That hero left a mess, and it's up to you to deal with the aftermath.

What the developers have to say:

“So you've elected to support development of Viscera Cleanup Detail by getting the Early Access build, great! There are a few things to keep in mind however, as we continue development, fix bugs, add content and polish it all up.
  • It's still in development, so it has issues, especially regarding network.
  • You might want to think twice about buying this now if you're looking for a polished product. However, if you want to support us and provide feedback for the game's development, we'd be super grateful!
  • The price will increase as it gets closer to the finished game.
  • Everything is subject to change; your favourite feature could be eradicated.

As we proceed with development, the major improvements you will see will be relating to new and improved maps, bug fixes and polish. New content will primarily be focused on creating interesting environments for our players to experience.

And on a final note, mod support will be coming very soon! So you'll be able to craft your own space-station massacres; hooray!”

Revolutionary Robotics: v0.50 update live!

Hey hey!

At long last, the final 'big' map is here! It's quite the map.. We present:

We've been working on this place for quite a while, and it brings with it tons of new content, and a couple neat mechanics. Read on for the full list of changes for v0.50!

  • Added new Revolutionary Robotics level!
  • Fixed Seed-beds in Hydroponic Hell behaving wrongly in network.
  • Greatly improved the collision of Unearthly Excavation Sand-Traps and the rocks near them.
  • Fixed the hovering sand-trap dirt in the Unearthly Excavation cave. [Save-Data corruption likely]
  • Remove the stairs in the Waste Disposal water, easier to get out now.
  • Changed the appearance and strength of bullet holes in Unearthly Excavation. [Other levels to follow]
  • Fixed Unrefinery and Gravity Drive barrel stacking zones not counting explosive barrels.
  • Fixed Office respawn briefing.
  • Fixed Gravity Drive airlock and gravity sounds not playing on the client more than once.

  • Added 2 new songs to the Big Banger.
  • Added 7 more News-Ticker articles.
  • Made it possible to clean and/or dirty the boots of your fellow Janitors by using the mop.
  • Made Janitor boots now visually appear dirty when you walk through filth.
  • Trophy collection achievements now update when you travel to the office instead of when you exit it.
  • Improved level completion achievement system.
  • Fixed the janitor Trunk being able to take strange objects like med-box lids with it.
  • Fixed mop impact effect colors not being synced in network.
  • Fixed mop impact effect on water volumes being in the wrong place.
  • Fixed Sand-Traps spitting out vomit projectiles far too often and made their trajectory more random.

  • Added a whole bunch of new Robot assets and mechanics for use on the workshop.

*EDIT:* Just want to add, that we are aware of a few issues relating to achievements again. We'll be on those this week like so much velvet on a jet-ski!

And with that, we're that much closer to the finish line. More fixes and polish to go, and some more janitor customization, which should not be far off now.

Anyway! We're proud of this little bugger, and we hope ya'll enjoy it! Please let us know what you think :)

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy cleaning!

Tiny update, v0.49 live!

Hey hey!

Just another small update this week, a couple fixes and some new achievements. Read on for the details!

  • Added broken Airlock sound to Gravity Drive.
  • Fixed trophies vanishing in the office when you destroy other Office actors.
  • Fixed Dave's corpse appearing with an upper arm instead of an upper leg...creepy
  • Added 7 new achievements.
  • Made Red Flammable barrels explode.
  • Dirty buckets left around the level now punish you more than clean ones.
  • Fixed infected viscera not being saved correctly.

We're getting super close to completion on the Robot map, so that shouldn't be much further off. The last of the character customization should begin it's final stretch next week as well. Fixes too are ongoing, as mandated by Lucifer and his army of strict enforcers.

Have a great weekend everyone (it's a long weekend down here in SA, so work may resume a day later ;) )!

“You know what I really love about violence? Dealing with the consequences! That’s why I’m so excited to see that Viscera Cleanup Detail, the space station janitor simulation, is now available on Steam Early Access.”

“By setting its mundane stall in the days after events that would be taken oh-so-seriously in another game, Viscera Cleanup Detail manages to be morbidly hilarious without ever telling a single joke.”

About This Game

Disaster! An alien invasion and subsequent infestation have decimated this facility. Many lives were lost, the facility was ruined and the aliens were unstoppable. All hope was lost until one survivor found the courage to fight back and put the aliens in their place!
It was a long and horrific battle as the survivor duelled with all manner of terrifying life-forms and alien mutations, but our hero won out in the end and destroyed the alien menace! Humanity was saved!

Unfortunately, the alien infestation and the heroic efforts of the courageous survivors have left rather a mess throughout the facility. As the janitor, it is your duty to get this place cleaned up.
So grab your mop and roll up your sleeves, this is gonna be one messy job.
Today, you're on Viscera Cleanup Detail!

Key Features

  • Janitorial Simulation - Step into the boots of a space-station sanitation technician and deal with the horrific aftermath of a sci-fi horror event. Blood, viscera, spent cartridges, worker bodies and other messes litter the facilities.
  • Clean - It's your job to clean up the mess, so clean it up you shall! Use your trusty mop, gloves, dispenser machines, plasma laser and sniffer tool to help you get all that blood out of the floor and off the ceiling! You can even try and punch-out if you think you've done your job.
  • Sandbox Gameplay - Don't want to clean? Just want to make more of a mess and play around with the physics? Go ahead! You can save your game as well; that's kind of us!
  • Multiplayer - Note: MP is still being worked out and may have issues still.
You can even enlist some friends/coworkers to come and help you clean up (or make even more mess).

Buying Viscera Cleanup Detail also gets you our spin-off titles, 'VCD: Shadow Warrior' and 'Santa's Rampage' free!

I've had this game for almost a year now and it's still pretty fun and addictive. Especially in multiplayer. Who would have thought you could have this much fun playing as a janitor?
It's also interesting to see how it has grown over the months. With new maps, tools and tweaks being made since my initial purchase. I hope the developers have more surprises up their sleeves as this game continues to evolve.
Highly recommended if you have OCD like I do. XD
