Patch 1.007 - notes

Added:

  • Difficulty level selection is now in a separate window after choosing a hero;
  • Ability to turn off 3D sound in the launcher;
  • Characters that can do mass healing don't distract on drinking healing potions instead of using a spell;
  • Console command setlevel, so if needed, difficulty level can be changed;
  • Editor added a menu option to create a mod and save a current scenario in it.

Changed:
  • New look of the ranged units and infantry on the spell casters. Now they take into the account their danger.

Fixed:
  • Dead knights ride on the dead horses instead of ghost ones again;
  • Boss ghosts (the Sleepless Count) have the ability again to use special items;
  • In Wizard Paths chapter now you can't attack armies of Foster and Insel if you declared war to the corresponding enemy faction;
  • Changing difficulty level when going to the game options;
  • Item Ritual Clothes has been assigned a correct type and now it's possible to use it;
  • The editor correctly updates menu after generating a new map;
  • Multiple small changes in texts.

Some of our team members will take short vacations. We will still monitor the forum. However, if you need to contact us really urgent, here is my (Alexander's) phone number +375 29 689 6899 ! Sms sparingly :)

Добавлено:
  • Выбор сложности перенесён на специальное окошко после выбора героя;
  • Возможность отключить 3D звуки в лончере;
  • Персонажи владеющие массовым лечением не отвлекаются на питье лечебных зелий вместо применения заклинания;

Fixed
  • Мертвые рыцари теперь снова ездят на мертвых конях вместо призрачных;
  • Призракам боссам (Неспящий граф) возвращена возможность брать в руки особые предметы;
  • На сценарии "заколдованные тропы" теперь нельзя напасть на отряды Фостера и Инзеля, если уже объявил войну соответствующей противоположной фракции;
  • Изменение уровня сложности при заходе в настройку игры;
  • Предмету "Ритуальное одеяние" добавлен корректный тип, без которого оно не было доступно для использования;
  • В редакторе корректно обновляется меню после генерации новой карты;
  • Много мелких изменений в тексте.

Некоторые из нас уйдут в короткие отпуска, мы будем следить за форумом. Однако, если надо связаться, вот мой (Александра) телефон: +375 29 689 6899 ! Смс-те если надо)

About This Game

Legends of Eisenwald is an adventure game with tactical battles, RPG and strategy elements. Take the lead of a small feudal army and try to defend your right to survive in this ruthless medieval world.

The mysterious lands of old Germany are waiting for you - it's a land where the superstitions of the time have come to life. This isn’t a fantasy game. There are no elves or dragons here. There are only people - and their passions, sins and fears that often take a tangible form. Which path will you choose? Live according to your conscience? Or live by power and might? Or will you live by justice? And what is your justice, really?

Game features

  • A unique and dynamic combat system - each move is also an attack
  • The ability to individually equip *each* fighter in your army
  • A large selection of weapons, spells and abilities, including the option to use mounted units
  • Diverse upgrade trees, and each unit level up provides cosmetic changes
  • An intriguing non-linear story
  • A distinctive game world without common fantasy cliches
  • Over 50 hours of gameplay within the game. A main campaign consisting of eight chapters plus two additional scenarios.
  • A beautiful symphonic soundtrack in a medieval style
  • An accompanying Scenario Editor with the full set of developer tools

French version is missing some of the descriptions translation. They will be added in a few days.

Legends of Eisenwald is in my opinion one of the best games that came through greenlight. The story is good and exciting. While playing you will have many decisions to make, all of which make the story evolve in different directions. The graphics are also well done, and there are a lot of nice side stories which come with beautiful pictures which you can read in a tavern. This gives the game a good flair. The combat system has a balanced and demanding design. I always looked forward to the next battle, because after I won a fight, my knight can level up again.

If one of those bigger budget game companies released a game as well written and storied as this, they would get full 100% reviews louding them as the new "planescape torment". It's really that good. Even moderately good recent RPGS like Divinity, Wastelands2 etc, have'nt on staff any writer even half as talented as whoever wrote this game and its characters.

This is one of those rare gems so full of style, atmosphere, character, story... This is exactly what gaming really needs. The more you play it, the more it reveals itself to you as a deep setting, with a rich story and very deep characters that any other developer would envy.

At first I thought negatively of this game because of it's enormously lackluster combat mechanics. Yes, they are really simplistic and bad, forcing the same kind of repetitive mindless grind every single time. But this game is so much more.
GET IT!

I'm only scratching the surface of the 1st chapter, and this review might change as I progress further in the game, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I like the mixture of Germanic setting and low-fantasy:
* The story and quests, whilst at times do get a bit confusing (get ready to do a lot of wandering around), are pretty interesting in a "figure it out by yourself" kind of way.
* The combat is different to most games, but by no means "bad". It's actually pretty good in Dark Souls kinda "git gud" way.
* But my main issue is that sometimes the descriptions in quest logs aren't really that useful and are written in a (sometimes) convoluted way. But I suspect that's because English isn't the devs' first language, so I guess it's understandable. But, still....

*** MINOR SUB-QUEST SPOILER***

For example, in one quest early on, you have to find a wealthy merchant who is involved in some grave robbing by a (quest description: watchtower casting a shadow on a rock by a southern gate). Indepth description, right? Well, there are a number of towers and rocks... but no gates. I spent 15min running around looking for it - even went to the south of the main town from which the merchant hails. Eventually the quest triggered (by pure, blind luck) and what they actually meant was the watch tower north of the south-eastern bridge.

I like it. Straight to the point right? Simply put, it's very similar to Heroes of Might and Magic (specifically 6) and Disciples except tone down the Fantasy about 5 notches and put it Medieval Germany. There are extensive upgrade trees for each unit with a very "figure out where to go" and "how to win" mentality in the game whilst still being very story driven. Graphically, the game is very pretty with a great soundtrack (I love good in-game music) that really works to immerse you in the world. It's definitely a good example of an Early Access game that was released a decent finished product on Steam compared to the garbage island levels of crap EA games that never finish or run out of funding (ie Spacebase DF-9). Of course, there are still some problems with the game but it's most nitpicky stuff that only someone like myself (who is so far up his own ♥♥♥) would actually point out... like equipping items doesn't change your appearance. You know? Stuff like that. Summed up, I really like the game and I can't wait to log some more hours in LoE.

A fun and challenging medieval / fantasy strategy rpg game, where player choices affect how your character progresses through the story.

If you enjoyed games like the Disciples series, this game is a must!
