Amazing game, too bad the community is rather small
But you only need one server with people on to enjoy yourself as the game is playable even at relatively high pings.

When I saw the open beta trailer for Strike Vector back in early January I didn't think much of it other than it had some great music, after receiving a gift copy my opinion completely changed. Strike Vector is hands down one of the fastest shooters out there with unsurpassed freedom of movement and speed. It requires some practice to get down but it's an absolute blast once you do. Customization is handled wonderfully, with players having access to everything non-cosmetic from the beginning and acquiring cosmetic parts, paintjobs, and decals as they level up. As someone who doesn't care for progression all that much I think they've found a good balance. The maps are great too, with each one being rated on how deadly they are to traverse. Anyone can go fast, but weaving through the innards of an airborne oil refinery at full afterburn isn't something just anyone can do. There are only two complaints I have, the size of the community and the lack of lag compensation. Lack of lag compensation wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't confined to playing on a european server half the time, but that's just the thing, at best I've seen two and a half servers worth of people playing. Personally, Strike Vector is probably one of the best shooters I've played. It'd make any other fast paced competitive shooter look like a snoozefest but I have a hard time recommending it because without other players there really isn't much you can do. If you've got some friends get the four-pack, at least you'll all be able to enjoy it together. oh and the music is ♥♥♥♥ing great.

A very unique game of skill.

Excellent flight and combat mechanics.

It blends flight and combat skills in a very serious way; pursue and evade at high speeds, and if you crash you will explode. If you're not quick you will be shot down.

It takes time to learn. It takes practice. It is fun to fly a vector.

+Great visuals on the Unreal 3 Engine.
+Extremely fast paced
+Reminicent of Quake 3, but if quake 3 was a Jet / Mech game
+Gameplay is very fun and addictive
+Awesome controls

-ZERO playerbase, means only one server at a time has any players on it.
-Usually crappy ping on said server ^
-Due to low player base its tough to pick up and want to play as you will be encountering lots of very good players as they are the only ones who still play the game. From what ive seen its either Level 1-10's or level 45+'s disscourages the level 1-10's wanting to actually play this game, as a skilled player will absolutely dominate the lobbies.

Overall this game is great, the controls are fluid, visuals are pretty, However with the current playerbase i cant recommend this game to anybody. As far as im concerned maybe if they switched to free to play, they could regain their lost playerbase. Or if durring any of the steam sales this game would go lower than half price 6$, as ive had my eye on this game for a while however it needs a good kick in the playerbase. Either an extremely low sale (2-3) dollars on steam. Or no price tag at all.

Got to play this on a free weekend awhile back and other than the tutorial,
I was unable to play anything because;

1) THERE ARE NO PLAYERS!

Seriously, I tried at least TEN times to get in a game and no one was ever on!
This wasn't 10 times in a row, this was 10 times spaced over 2 days and
not one single person was playing!
I even made an exception in my Firewall on my OS and my router just to
make sure it wasn't something on my end. No dice :(

2) Their is NO SINGLE PLAYER / BOTS / AI

The Devs "claim" putting AI Bots in the game is impossible...
IMPOSSIBLE? No. Just No. Hard maybe, require some effort,
but IMPOSSIBLE? No.

They should have followed their intial plan and had this game free-2-play.
I think at least the multi-player part wouldn't be dead.

This game is a FANTASTIC game for what it is,
but if your MULTIPLAYER is dead and that's all you have to go on,
then your game is basically in the graveyard.

I wish I could recommend this game because the game engine is beautiful
and the game itself feels great.

-

Please Devs, make the game Free-2-Play.
Make extras like skins or non-essential different ship layouts cost say, $0.99.
Don't make it Pay-2-Win and I bet you people would buy a skin or two to play this game.
I rarely buy anything in Free-2-play games, usually because things are too-overpriced or
are not permanent, but a low priced skin or two?
I would definitely do that and I think a lot of others would too.

Barring that, add some singleplayer AI/Custom Maps with AI/Bots (Not Drones, but honest to goodness real AI) and people would play this game again, esp. with custom maps support.

Do one of the above please, and get this game out of an early grave.

I was very close to not recomending this game because as fun as it is, as much as I love it, almost nobody is playing it, and for a mostly multiplayer game thats certainly not a good thing. You also need better internet then what ever TF2 needs as lag spikes are more often for me then that game. The main reason I recomend it is because I want more people to play it.

The game is dead. Nobody is playing. Whatever players you do face online are diehards who will curbstomp you. The offline mode is comprised of small time trials. Nothing to write about but... For those that need to know: There are no bots in this game.

If you can get it on a Steam sale for $2.00, then you'll have fun for a a few days until about a month after the sale ends. It's a good game, but see the first three sentences of this review.

It's funny. A game of this quality dead because there's no playerbase to support it.

Don't buy.

I would recommend this game if you can get it on sale. However for $12 I think this is asking a bit much from a certain demographic. It's clear this game is meant to target those that are into "sci-fi" and "mech" genres, and if you are that person, then the 12 dollar price tag just might be worth your while. Upon viewing the trailers you might think that this game is way too chaotic to even traverse anywhere. And you're right, it will be, at least for the first time you try it.

The core gameplay revolves around you piloting a strike vector, a high-tech machine used to rip your opponents a new one. The Strike Vector has two modes that are toggleable by the space bar; a jet mode and a hover conversion. The jet mode is where things get crazy fast. While combat is possible, it is best used to get where you need to be before you engage someone in your other mode, the hover-harrier. The hover harrier is much more controllable and very viable with its own unique dash mechanics and combat features, such as aiming down your sights and overall being much easier to aim with.

Jets control like ice moving on a buttered floor. They don't maneuver as well as you'd hope, and you'll surely crash if you try to fly it in small nooks and crevices. However, paired with the hover mode you'll find that you can dodge missles, get through tight spaces, and out-maneuver your opponents if you can master toggling between the two; jet for speed and hover for turning. The controls are responsive and there is really no delay when inputting commands for your Vector, so you should have no problem transforming on the go.

Combat on the other hand may take a while to get used to if you're not willing to put in the effort. Leading shots can be a pain, and chasing down opponents can feel useless. Doing damage is also very unrewarding and can be discouraging/frustrating when you do a lot of damage and your teammate steals your kill. On the plus side there are multiple weapons to choose from for each hand, each with their own unique attributes and are fairly balanced. And yes, all weapons and abilities are unlocked at the start. The main progression feature is to unlock Vector parts and skins.

Pros:
-Fast gameplay
-Excellent Twitch Shooter Mechanics
-Third and First person cockpit
-Customizable Vectors
-Weapon Variety
-Various game modes and maps
-Extremely responsive controls
-Balanced weapon set-ups based on your playstyle
-Single player challenges and leaderboards

Cons:
-Certain weapon mods don't feel viable for particular weapons
-Team games don't feel very teamwork oriented (kill stealing everywhere, no assists)
-Doing damage in game doesn't feel rewarding if you don't get the kill
-Not much progression to be had unless you're into customizing, could use more customization features
-Learning curve is kind of steep
-Not very casual friendly
-Small Playerbase

Tl;dr - The game is fun but may not be worth the 12 dollars for certain people. Lots to do and there are good times to be had here. I'd recommend it to people who like mechs, jets, and shooters.

By itself this game is fun. Jumping into a server full of people that know what they're doing is not. Notice how this does not detract from my overall positive review. That's because at the core the game is fun. However its limited player base may turn you away quickly.

Strike Vector deserves much praise for making a unique mutliplayer shooter about jet/mech combat while not being FreeToPlay. Yet there's next to no reason for me to talk about the game's positives simply because of one excruciating fact, the community is dead. It may be possible to find games at certain time of day or on certain days. You may be able to coordinate with other players and fans to set up a game. It's possible you may join an empty server, and wait around so other players can see the only server with a single player and join you.....yeah, that is the extent you may have to go to in order to play a round.

The contols and combat also has a steep learning curve that also turns off potential new players. I'm not sure if it is bad persay, but I definitely suck at it and it didn't help when the jet slightly veers off your aim, or when your target is in a awkward location in the map (that damn 4 tutorial map). The game prides itself for not being F2P, but sadly, this game may need F2P with transactions just to make it cost back (if it hasn't already).

From my minor first impression, Strike Vector has a great base game that is made mostly pointless due to being multiplayer only with no players available. You can mess around in training/challenge missions if you so desire, but at best you will have stationary targets to shoot. I will probably launch it a few more times to see if there are players and to get my card drops. But Strike Vector is a definite no to purchase, unless you can verify that there are other players to play with.

If the gameplay mechanics interest you, I'd recommend taking a look at Strike Suit Zero and Strike Suit Infinity. I haven't played enough to make a review, but it has the same flight transformation combat.

There's a lot of customization, the community is friendly, and the game is just plain awesome.

Despite other reviews stating the contrary, I find the games can get quite busy with players! True, many of the servers are largely empty, but if you just go on and play with a couple of friends people join when they see there are people playing on the server. A 3 player free for all deathmatch with my friends quickly became a 20+ player filled game. Worth the purchase, especially if you used to enjoy games like Starfox.
The fast paced flying and training mission challenges sold me on the game even before I got into playing with others. Anyhow, take this for what it's worth, it's fun!
