Strike Vector is a Brutal aerial FPS that will see you test your skills online against other players in the tradition of Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. With a distinct old school feel, reminiscent to games such as Crimson Skies, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament, Strike Vector will let you test your reflexes and skills against your friends. Team flight and mutual assistance is required to fulfill your missions but individual aiming and piloting skills are also mandatory.

Very fun, competitive, challenging, and addicting game. Got it for a very low price, wouldn't have minded getting it at a full price. Play and have fun. It will take some time to get used to its mechanics, but once you do, this is where things get fun.

One thing I do recommend when getting this game is joining an empty server and waiting for a bit. Most likely you will get players to come in after a bit, and eventually it will fill up. I've had this happen a few times already. Otherwise, this game definitely needs more attention.

+ Great visual design and graphics, with beautiful and creative environments
+ Great ship design; has a similar 'gritty' feel that fans of HAWKEN will feel right at home in
+ Gameplay is very fast-paced and highly skill dependant
+ Weapons and ship upgrades are extremely well-balanced
+ Controls are sharp and responsive
+ Seems to still be getting somewhat regular updates, that appear to be flush with new content

- Almost non-existent player-base. Every time I play, there is only one active server, ever. For this reason, I cannot recommend the game, being that it is a strictly PvP title. This game is truly an amazing gem, and is insanely entertaining to play, but the developers appear to have spent approximately zero dollars on marketing, and this keeps the player base at almost extinct levels. If elbowing your way into one, solitary server to play is not a deal-breaker for you, then by all means buy this game. Save for this one game-breaking, negative point, the game is absolutely worth paying even full price for. I am genuinely sorry that I cannot recommend this game to everyone, as it's just fantastic.

When I saw the open beta trailer for Strike Vector back in early January I didn't think much of it other than it had some great music, after receiving a gift copy my opinion completely changed. Strike Vector is hands down one of the fastest shooters out there with unsurpassed freedom of movement and speed. It requires some practice to get down but it's an absolute blast once you do. Customization is handled wonderfully, with players having access to everything non-cosmetic from the beginning and acquiring cosmetic parts, paintjobs, and decals as they level up. As someone who doesn't care for progression all that much I think they've found a good balance. The maps are great too, with each one being rated on how deadly they are to traverse. Anyone can go fast, but weaving through the innards of an airborne oil refinery at full afterburn isn't something just anyone can do. There are only two complaints I have, the size of the community and the lack of lag compensation. Lack of lag compensation wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't confined to playing on a european server half the time, but that's just the thing, at best I've seen two and a half servers worth of people playing. Personally, Strike Vector is probably one of the best shooters I've played. It'd make any other fast paced competitive shooter look like a snoozefest but I have a hard time recommending it because without other players there really isn't much you can do. If you've got some friends get the four-pack, at least you'll all be able to enjoy it together. oh and the music is ♥♥♥♥ing great.

Wing got cut in haft in a strafe run near a rig. Fly the uncontrollable wreckage into a friend and got a kill

11/10 WOULD SUICIDE AGAIN

Also active servers are still there with not much lags. Buy the game while you can!

For the love of god buy this game. Half the reason this game is quote "dead" is because people see there's no servers running then NEVER play it again or they read a review saying its dead before buying it and NEVER buy the game.

A very unique game of skill.

Excellent flight and combat mechanics.

It blends flight and combat skills in a very serious way; pursue and evade at high speeds, and if you crash you will explode. If you're not quick you will be shot down.

It takes time to learn. It takes practice. It is fun to fly a vector.

I'll just get straight to the point for this title: you'll have to get used to the awkward controls if you are to become a competent player. And if you can't get that down, don't even waste your time with this title.

This game is way faster than Quake and F-Zero put together. You literally have little to no time to think before acting or whatever during the fights. you could sit there in Harrier mode and try to figure it all out but you'll get blown to hell quickly.

Either change between vector and harrier modes frequently, or die. simple as that. this kind of mechanic reminds me of a certain anime...

and lead your shots too.

for those that can get into this title easily, thats great news, but some others may not recieve this very well.

As I said, the strange controls is what turned me off completely, especially how you have to change directions with the reticule on the screen, which I've never used that kind of thing before. it sort of rubs me in the wrong way, and does not allow me to fully enjoy the game at all or as I have said earlier---become a competent player. I like challenge, but this was overdoing it.


It's a fast ♥♥♥ game, and it should be very obvious from this point that this game only caters to one very small niche in the gaming market. Don't be suprised when someone with a talent for counter strike gets pulverized in SV's matches. This is a totally different ball game than what a military shooter player is used to.

But about the ghost town servers..there ain't nothing that could be done about that as long as SV's skill level remains high off the charts. It kind of sucks in a way because most people, especially some I spoke to would rather play something like TF2 or Counter Strike here on steam. lets face it, people do feel intimidated by games such as this! I'm no business marketing strategist, but this is one of the things that's going to kill SV is that....Well, I hate to ♥♥♥♥ing say it..Even though Arena shooters are awesome and fun as hell to play, this simply will not sell in this new era of gaming where everything is handed to you. Not many players are going to sit there and learn the whole damn game while getting owned constantly. They'll just ♥♥♥♥ing leave and not come back, simple as that.

This was pretty tough for me to say, but I'm just being real about this. Look what happened to Quake Live. there was barely any players online and only the really strong ones were still lurking around, but they finally dumbed it down to appeal more to the "casual audience" by introducing loadouts, autobunny hopping, global ammo replenishment boxes, and more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that doesn't belong in Quake, and apparantly, it worked. It's coming to steam soon by the way.

Another thing that's really going to kill SV is the fact that there is no single player campaign or something to experiment with the game, like figuring out what weapon combinations are good to use and what aren't, but instead what you have here is just online multiplayer. Sure, there's a free flight mode if you want to practice shooting targets..or imaginary vectors, but there is nothing else to shoot at besides obstacles, such as gas tanks, carriers and the occasional drone that flys around with a powerup....

but have you heard of the famous Bruce Lee saying?

"Boards.....don't hit back"

You can pretty much apply that meaning here on SV.

Again, it's not a bad game, but there's room for more things to add to this title, because what you also have here is just a bland mutliplayer shooter with no depth. Sure the learning curve is off the charts, but there doesn't seem to be any motivation to keep playing and getting better at the game, which is entirely left to the player, which he or she will decide if it's worth it or not. Because once the veterans take a huge number 2 on the new guys, they'll just give up, leave and never comeback, playing whatever else they were before, or on many rare occasions, continue.

I'm not saying lets noobify Strike Vector. The game needs some sort of a tutorial mode that helps newcomers get to know how their vector works inside and out, but not spoiling EVERYTHING in the game---just get them flying and figuring out the rest on their own. but again, that alone won't save newcomers from getting slaughtered by more experienced pilots.

It also needs more game modes than just deathmatch, like for example, maybe a race around the map through checkpoints, or who could shoot the most targets that pop up in the map, or other creative modes that could somehow help you get better at the game before jumping into a competitive match.

There are a couple of interesting things to note: You can fully customize your Vector to your liking, such as the color for example, and as you rank up you unlock different parts for your fighter, but they're just cosmetics, so don't expect any attribute modifications done to your aircraft! Keep in mind, skill is king in this game! You can also set up any 3 presets that include premade loadouts so you don't need to spend several minutes figuring out what to use in the middle of the match, so take advantage of that! I tend to use the afterburners if I can't shake anyone off my tail. it's a short lived, but massive boost that can potentially get you out of a hairy situation if used correctly, and look for some tool deposits in the levels to heal your aircraft and continue fighting.

Overall, It is a fast paced brutal shooter. Either you make the cut or you don't. You can already tell not many people made the cut, judging from the empty servers, which means there's no one to play against most of the time. Just how can you play an online game when there is no players online? Better think about that before purchasing the game.

This is a brilliant concept of a third person/first person shooter jet fighter hybrid, but of course the game is only friendly to one niche in the gaming market...which is cool I guess, but that's also one of the reasons why there's never anyone playing this game.

Strike Vector is still a good reminder of how shooters were back in the day that would brutally determine whether you were good, or just a bad player depending how much of it that you played before jumping online, and sure enough, that crap just doesn't matter anymore nowadays concerning most online shooters.

Strike Vector is a fusion of space combat game (Freespace, Descent etc) and FPS with a high skill ceiling. If you've played Strike Suit Zero this game is sort of similar, but more hardcore (no autoaim, faster paced, easy to crash, etc.) and designed for multiplayer.

In the game your ship has a flight mode and a hover mode. Flight mode gives you superior speed but you cannot turn quickly. Hover mode allows you to hover in place and aim like you would in an FPS, you are able to turn 180 degrees instantly if you turn fast enough.

Learning to switch between the modes effectively is key to getting good with the controls, since there is no delay in changing modes since hover mode is excellent for aiming shots and stopping momentum.

Navigating the maps which have a lot of complexity and various hidden paths is a skill in itself. Flying through complex paths at max speed while trying to flee enemy fire can feel very rewarding in a way I can't really remember experiencing in any other game, usually space combat or mech games don't have this complex environments. Powerup and healing items are also hidden in difficult places to encourage exploring, similarly to many old school FPS games.

The maps are well designed and really bring out the potential of the combat. For beginners the complexity can be a turnoff since it can be easy to crash into walls, but on the flipside this makes you learn the controls very quickly if you have some patience.

There are a wide variety of weapons which all have their own strengths. Though as of the current patch (1.0.4008) missiles and the LMG are pretty useless, but apart from those it feels very balanced. There are a variety of game modes that are typical for FPS games but they all work quite well with the maps.

My biggest negative point in the game is the games graphics settings, which are pretty much nonexistent ingame. It's very easy to manually set various detail settings just by editing a text file with false/true entries, but that makes it even more confusing as to why it isn't implemented ingame. With default settings the system requirements can be very high but at low settings you should be able to reach constant 60fps on a mid-tier system.

A lot of people have complained about the lack of players, but at least from my experience in the european servers there are always at least 20-30 people playing which isn't bad at all unless you want to avoid expert players or tend to switch servers a lot.

The developers are releasing updates for the game every few months to polish features and add new maps/modes which is very nice to see. I think this could really be a big cult classic if they keep it up.

There arent anyone playing usually and its kind of really difficult to play because of the veterans and the balancing system, as well as the limited amounts of game variousity for weapons and machanic... FPS is for having the Accoplishment of killing an hostile Player enemy ... but seems hard to accomplish that kind of a goal

I love this game!


Very fast; Very furious. This game has an excellent blend of speed and firepower.
For some there may be a steep learning curve. Just do the tutorials and hone your skills until you feel comfortable to go into a live match.
There are even solo maps so you can tool around and learn every map's secrets at your own pace.
You can even run your own servers!
Also:
First and third person views and you can change on the fly.
Customizable controls that can be double bound if you prefer. this makes for a very comfortable and personal experience.

When you start all items and "skills" are available to you.

Definately worth the price. Get it and challenge me...
