What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Plague Inc: Evolved is in Early Access because it is currently in active development and features dangerous pathogens – so please wash your hands after playing to avoid infection!

On a serious note, it is in Early Access because the game is stable and polished but not currently feature-complete. Early Access is a great way to get player feedback on features as they are added in - helping to make Plague Inc. perfect!

Over 35 million people have played Plague Inc. to date and their input has been invaluable. Please get in touch and let me know how you want the game to evolve!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are working very hard to add in new content and cool features and hope to be out of Early Access in a few months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is stable and polished with the core game complete. The Full Version will have additional features added.

So far - we have added:
  • The mind controlling Neurax Worm special disease type
  • The zombie-making Necroa Virus special disease type
  • The Simian Flu from the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie!
  • 18 Official Scenarios
  • Custom Scenario Creator
  • Speed run gameplay mode
  • 3 new cheats and greatly enhanced cheat functionality
  • Mac support

We are still working on:
  • Competitive Multiplayer mode
  • Co-operative Multiplayer mode
  • Linux support

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment, the game is stable and polished with the core game complete and we are working on additional features. Please only buy the game now if you are OK with this and understand that you may also encounter bugs (not the good, world-killing kind...).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may increase the price when the game comes out of early access but this has not been decided yet”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback and comments are incredibly important for the development process of Plague Inc: Evolved. We are extremely grateful for having such a passionate group of players and we make sure not to take it for granted.

Players will be able to send us feedback and ideas via the steam forums, the in-game contact form, twitter, Facebook etc. We will also use polls and specific forum threads to gather targeted feedback as required.

Developer commitments:
  • Be open and honest with players
  • Clearly communicate our development plans
  • Always post a change log when an update is released (I hate it when this doesn't get done :P)
  • Read every single comment on the forums and be an active presence
  • Respond to every support email
Note - due to Steam Friends limit - I can't accept every friend request - sorry! I will refresh my friend list every month or so in order to talk to new people.”

Good luck!

JUDGING CRITERIA
We are looking for scenarios that are original, creative, and most importantly fun to play! Here are some of the criteria we will use when judging
  • Did we enjoy playing it?
  • Does it relate to the theme?
  • Is it memorable? Does it stand out from other scenarios?
  • Does it have well-balanced gameplay?
  • Is the narrative/structure engaging?
  • Is it polished? (no typos, errors in gameplay or inconsistent graphics etc)

RULES
Your scenario must comply with these rules, otherwise it will not be considered
  • All submissions must be received by the 30th April. We will aim to announce the winners in May
  • Original content only - you may not use IP owned by others (e.g. you can't create a scenario about the film "A bug's life")
  • Submissions will only be accepted using the dedicated form
  • We will exclude any scenarios that we deem overly offensive or explicit
  • Submissions must be available in English
  • An entrant can submit a maximum of 3 scenarios but they can only win one prize
  • Scenario must comply with the Scenario Creator Terms and Conditions

T&Cs
Some boring but annoyingly important stuff
  • Ndemic reserves the right to use shortlisted scenarios in promotional images/campaigns
  • In some regions it may not be easy to gift the winner $100. In which case Ndemic will work with the winner to gift them Steam games of their choice
  • The winner is solely responsible for any taxes applicable to the prizes.
  • Ndemic reserves the right to amend these contest rules or to terminate the competition.
  • Any prizes will be awarded to the submitter of the scenario only. If there were multiple contributors, then it is the submitter's responsibility to share the prize.
  • In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the competition, Ndemic's decision shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
  • Ndemic is not responsible for misdirected, incomplete, lost, late, illegible, undelivered, inaccurate or delayed entries, or for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions or other errors or problems that may limit or affect a person's ability to participate in the competition
  • By entering into the competition, each entrant agrees to release, discharge, and hold harmless Ndemic from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, taxes, expenses or damages of any kind, either at law or in equity, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in connection with this competition, including the possession, use or inability to use any prize

March Development update

March was a shorter month than usual due to the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco but we have still made good progress with Plague Inc: Evolved. We got to meet loads of cool developers at the conference, meaning we came back with lots of ideas for the future and even more enthusiasm to push on and release the final version of Plague Inc: Evolved. :)

Our main focus remains multiplayer. A few weeks ago - we hit a bit of a roadblock when we encountered some nasty desync bugs. This meant that the simulation and the turns on the different machines were not running at the same time, giving one player an advantage (usually the host). The desync seemed to happen at random but we've spent a lot of time debugging and we think we've got to the bottom of it now (linked to game events firing). Haven't had any desync issues in the last few days so the bug is hopefully gone for good!

Separately, the Linux build is coming along nicely and it went into beta a few weeks ago. Thanks very much to everyone that has been helping out, it's been great to see so many people contributing to bug finding on all the different machines/systems etc. If you want to get involved then please check out the thread in our Steam forums.

Keep an eye out for a new Scenario Creator Competition that we are going to run. Hoping to announce it in the next day or so!

James

About This Game

Plague Inc: Evolved is a unique mix of high strategy and terrifyingly realistic simulation. Your pathogen has just infected 'Patient Zero' - now you must bring about the end of human history by evolving a deadly, global Plague whilst adapting against everything humanity can do to defend itself.

Plague Inc. is so realistic that the CDC even asked the developer to come and speak about the infection models in the game! http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmatters/2013/04/plague-inc/.

Over 35 million players have been infected by Plague Inc., and Plague Inc: Evolved combines the original critically acclaimed gameplay with significant, all-new features for PC:

  • Infectious Multiplayer - cooperative and competitive gameplay modes let you team up to fight the cure with friends, or compete in a race to kill the world.
  • Contagious Content Creator - hit the lab and develop your own custom scenarios, creating new plague types and worlds. Bring your deadliest ideas to life and share them with Steam Workshop.
  • Blinding Graphics - including full 3D disease models taking you closer to your plague than ever before, city-cams showing humanity's struggle at street level, and the body scanner highlighting the full effect of your mutations, organ by organ.
  • Deadly Data - predict government responses with priority indicators, geek out with loads of new stats and graphs, and analyse your best strategies with end-of-game replays.

Please note that Plague Inc: Evolved is currently in Early Access (see above for more details). We are currently hard at work and will be adding / polishing features over the coming weeks. More information: http://www.ndemiccreations.com/en/31-plague-inc-evolved-early-access.

  • 10 Different Disease Types – Master every pathogen; from bacteria to bio-weapons and mind control to zombies, end humanity by any means possible – different diseases will need radically different approaches.
  • Infectious Multiplayer – Cooperative and Competitive gameplay; team up to fight the cure with friends, or compete in a race to kill the world.
  • Contagious Content Creator – Hit the lab; develop your own custom scenarios - creating new plague types and worlds. Bring your deadliest ideas to life and share them with Steam Workshop.
  • 18 Unique Scenarios – Adapt your strategy; scenarios create further challenges for your pandemic – how will you handle a new strain of Swine Flu, or infect a world in Ice Age?
  • Stunning Graphical Features – Watch your disease take hold; witness your pathogen mutate in real-time disease models, see humanity's struggle at street-level on city-cams, and watch the full effect of your mutations organ-by-organ on the body scanner.
  • Hyper-Realistic World – Strategize in the real world; advanced AI and use of real-world data and events make Plague Inc: Evolved a highly authentic simulation of a world-ending pathogen. Even the CDC likes it!
  • Deadly Data - Geek out with stats and graphs; monitor infection and death levels, track government reactions and cure efforts, then review your plague's success (or failure!) with full game replays.
  • And much more... - Including speed runs, Mega-Brutal difficulty and genetic modification... Plus loads of new disease types and scenarios in future (free!) updates.

This game is an educational tool like no other.

On the surface you will gain insights into how various types of plagues are spread and adapt to new surroundings and the methods that educated scientists use to slow that spread and eradicate them.

However, on a deeper and much more disturbing level you will realise how satisfied you are sneaking into a country undetected and mutating into a killer virus that wipes out the entire population in just a few days. You will pull your hair out with frustration as 3% of the world survives your onslaught because you were not quick enough to shut down vital organs. And finally you will learn that Greenland is magical place filled with people that always wash their hands, import nothing and travel nowhere.

A plague simulator with an infectious amount of replayablity. The graphics and gameplay are rather simple but the end goal is to dominate the world with those little red circles of infection. Timing plays a huge role in evolving and deevolving traits depending on the type of infection. For instance, if your plague is too severe before you attain widespread infection, humans will begin working on a cure before you have time enough to infect everyone. Conversely, if you are too wide spread through transmission abilities, you might not end up with enough DNA to be lethal enough before a cure is found.

The Planet of the Apes add on is very interesting. I'm still experimenting with it but unleashing a virus that makes apes more intelligent and combat humans is quite entertaining. In fact, things got so bad in China once, the US decided to nuke em just to supress the spread of the virus.

I've played both versions Mobile and PC, and both versions are great however in my opinion the PC version is better. The PC version has features added which the mobile version doesn't have unless you buy them (the different viruses) differences listed below:
1. PC version includes the Necroa Virus, Neurax Worm AND the Simian Flu. For the mobile version you need to buy them which costs $8.96 (incuding base mobile game).
2. PC version has a new UI.
3. PC version gives you a bigger screen, and if you have touch you get a bigger touch screen. (Not a big deal though)
4. Custom scenarios, if you are getting bored of the regular plagues the game gives you, you can play scenarios the steam communtity makes, or you can even make your own.
5. Mutiplayer feature is going to be added (from the time of writing this review).

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Have you ever wanted to create a Plague, virus, nano-bot, zombie virus, even control Apes and play out your own planet of the apes, And many many more diffrent types of plagues you will make and evolve. Be the mad scientist you have always wanted to be.

I have had and still do lots of fun playing this game. The developers did a great job converting this from a phone app into a great PC game. They have constant great updates, Including New scenarios , achievements and fixes . The game also uses steam workshop so you can play Custom scenarios from peoples twisted minds and thier imagination or create your own.

Pros
1. Tons of gameplay ranging from the main scenarios to Workshop custom scenarios & time trials
2. The ability to do it your way. you chose what you want your creation to do. ( evolve sympotms , transmision factors, and much more)
3. Constant new updates for new scenarios for you to play. Its not a dead game.

Cons
None that I can see.

The best way to describe this game is "A HD remake of Pandemic with a sh*t ton of new features!" Simply put, if you enjoyed Pandemic, theres no reason to hate this game, it's better in everyway.

The music is good, however it can get repetitive at times.
The graphics (If you can call them graphics) are nice and bright, and every stands out so you know what is what, nothing blends in.
While Pandemic had 3 diseases, this game HAS A LOT more and creative ones, plus thanks to the Steam workshop, theres pretty much an unlimted amount of diseases you can play as, plus if you want to make your own, it's very easy to learn!
The game while simple and repetitive, it's still a lot of fun and has a lot of Easter Eggs in game, including a Minecraft reference and more.

However theres one downside for me, and that's you unlock some of the content by playing a disease in a specific difficulty, this sounds good, but most of the time from my playthroughs, some bullcrap keeps happening like the following.

I never get enough DNA points to stop the cure OR get the upgrades I need.
The game has an ♥♥♥ pull and the cure sky rockets while the upgrades don't help at all, they barely help.
Some upgrades feel like they do nothing, for an example I got an upgrade to increase lethality, but people die at the same rate as before.
If my disease has nearly no severity, it will get spotted no matter what... this is really unfair when I have a PIXAL amount of severity and I pretty much lose when I just started the game.
When I try to play sneaky and spread then kill, I keep getting random upgrades because my disease is evolving, this can help, but most of the time ruins the game for me.

I would have prefered to have all the stuff unlocked at the start and have "Beat this difficulty with X disease" just as achievements, rather then having it locked.

Overall it's a fun and basic game, if you enjoy Pandemic, theres no reason to say no to this game.

The graphic are fun and the difficultily levels make it last a while. Although the Pop ups in the game can be annoying, They pause the game making it easier to pop the bubbles. The game is fun and the repeatablity is great. Even more so when you turn off the music and play your own!! Wish there was a feature to either change music or for it to run off my own.
