What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Plague Inc: Evolved is in Early Access because it is currently in active development and features dangerous pathogens – so please wash your hands after playing to avoid infection!

On a serious note, it is in Early Access because the game is stable and polished but not currently feature-complete. Early Access is a great way to get player feedback on features as they are added in - helping to make Plague Inc. perfect!

Over 35 million people have played Plague Inc. to date and their input has been invaluable. Please get in touch and let me know how you want the game to evolve!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are working very hard to add in new content and cool features and hope to be out of Early Access in a few months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is stable and polished with the core game complete. The Full Version will have additional features added.

So far - we have added:
  • The mind controlling Neurax Worm special disease type
  • The zombie-making Necroa Virus special disease type
  • The Simian Flu from the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie!
  • 18 Official Scenarios
  • Custom Scenario Creator
  • Speed run gameplay mode
  • 3 new cheats and greatly enhanced cheat functionality
  • Mac support

We are still working on:
  • Competitive Multiplayer mode
  • Co-operative Multiplayer mode
  • Linux support

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment, the game is stable and polished with the core game complete and we are working on additional features. Please only buy the game now if you are OK with this and understand that you may also encounter bugs (not the good, world-killing kind...).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may increase the price when the game comes out of early access but this has not been decided yet”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback and comments are incredibly important for the development process of Plague Inc: Evolved. We are extremely grateful for having such a passionate group of players and we make sure not to take it for granted.

Players will be able to send us feedback and ideas via the steam forums, the in-game contact form, twitter, Facebook etc. We will also use polls and specific forum threads to gather targeted feedback as required.

Developer commitments:
  • Be open and honest with players
  • Clearly communicate our development plans
  • Always post a change log when an update is released (I hate it when this doesn't get done :P)
  • Read every single comment on the forums and be an active presence
  • Respond to every support email
Note - due to Steam Friends limit - I can't accept every friend request - sorry! I will refresh my friend list every month or so in order to talk to new people.”

Good luck!

JUDGING CRITERIA
We are looking for scenarios that are original, creative, and most importantly fun to play! Here are some of the criteria we will use when judging
  • Did we enjoy playing it?
  • Does it relate to the theme?
  • Is it memorable? Does it stand out from other scenarios?
  • Does it have well-balanced gameplay?
  • Is the narrative/structure engaging?
  • Is it polished? (no typos, errors in gameplay or inconsistent graphics etc)

RULES
Your scenario must comply with these rules, otherwise it will not be considered
  • All submissions must be received by the 30th April. We will aim to announce the winners in May
  • Original content only - you may not use IP owned by others (e.g. you can't create a scenario about the film "A bug's life")
  • Submissions will only be accepted using the dedicated form
  • We will exclude any scenarios that we deem overly offensive or explicit
  • Submissions must be available in English
  • An entrant can submit a maximum of 3 scenarios but they can only win one prize
  • Scenario must comply with the Scenario Creator Terms and Conditions

T&Cs
Some boring but annoyingly important stuff

  • In some regions it may not be easy to gift the winner $100. In which case Ndemic will work with the winner to gift them Steam games of their choice
  • The winner is solely responsible for any taxes applicable to the prizes.
  • Ndemic reserves the right to amend these contest rules or to terminate the competition.
  • Any prizes will be awarded to the submitter of the scenario only. If there were multiple contributors, then it is the submitter's responsibility to share the prize.
  • In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the competition, Ndemic's decision shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
  • Ndemic is not responsible for misdirected, incomplete, lost, late, illegible, undelivered, inaccurate or delayed entries, or for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions or other errors or problems that may limit or affect a person's ability to participate in the competition
  • By entering into the competition, each entrant agrees to release, discharge, and hold harmless Ndemic from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, taxes, expenses or damages of any kind, either at law or in equity, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in connection with this competition, including the possession, use or inability to use any prize

March Development update

March was a shorter month than usual due to the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco but we have still made good progress with Plague Inc: Evolved. We got to meet loads of cool developers at the conference, meaning we came back with lots of ideas for the future and even more enthusiasm to push on and release the final version of Plague Inc: Evolved. :)

Our main focus remains multiplayer. A few weeks ago - we hit a bit of a roadblock when we encountered some nasty desync bugs. This meant that the simulation and the turns on the different machines were not running at the same time, giving one player an advantage (usually the host). The desync seemed to happen at random but we've spent a lot of time debugging and we think we've got to the bottom of it now (linked to game events firing). Haven't had any desync issues in the last few days so the bug is hopefully gone for good!

Separately, the Linux build is coming along nicely and it went into beta a few weeks ago. Thanks very much to everyone that has been helping out, it's been great to see so many people contributing to bug finding on all the different machines/systems etc. If you want to get involved then please check out the thread in our Steam forums.

Keep an eye out for a new Scenario Creator Competition that we are going to run. Hoping to announce it in the next day or so!

James

About This Game

Plague Inc: Evolved is a unique mix of high strategy and terrifyingly realistic simulation. Your pathogen has just infected 'Patient Zero' - now you must bring about the end of human history by evolving a deadly, global Plague whilst adapting against everything humanity can do to defend itself.

Plague Inc. is so realistic that the CDC even asked the developer to come and speak about the infection models in the game! http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmatters/2013/04/plague-inc/.

Over 35 million players have been infected by Plague Inc., and Plague Inc: Evolved combines the original critically acclaimed gameplay with significant, all-new features for PC:

  • Infectious Multiplayer - cooperative and competitive gameplay modes let you team up to fight the cure with friends, or compete in a race to kill the world.
  • Contagious Content Creator - hit the lab and develop your own custom scenarios, creating new plague types and worlds. Bring your deadliest ideas to life and share them with Steam Workshop.
  • Blinding Graphics - including full 3D disease models taking you closer to your plague than ever before, city-cams showing humanity's struggle at street level, and the body scanner highlighting the full effect of your mutations, organ by organ.
  • Deadly Data - predict government responses with priority indicators, geek out with loads of new stats and graphs, and analyse your best strategies with end-of-game replays.

Please note that Plague Inc: Evolved is currently in Early Access (see above for more details). We are currently hard at work and will be adding / polishing features over the coming weeks. More information: http://www.ndemiccreations.com/en/31-plague-inc-evolved-early-access.

  • 10 Different Disease Types – Master every pathogen; from bacteria to bio-weapons and mind control to zombies, end humanity by any means possible – different diseases will need radically different approaches.
  • Infectious Multiplayer – Cooperative and Competitive gameplay; team up to fight the cure with friends, or compete in a race to kill the world.
  • Contagious Content Creator – Hit the lab; develop your own custom scenarios - creating new plague types and worlds. Bring your deadliest ideas to life and share them with Steam Workshop.
  • 18 Unique Scenarios – Adapt your strategy; scenarios create further challenges for your pandemic – how will you handle a new strain of Swine Flu, or infect a world in Ice Age?
  • Stunning Graphical Features – Watch your disease take hold; witness your pathogen mutate in real-time disease models, see humanity's struggle at street-level on city-cams, and watch the full effect of your mutations organ-by-organ on the body scanner.
  • Hyper-Realistic World – Strategize in the real world; advanced AI and use of real-world data and events make Plague Inc: Evolved a highly authentic simulation of a world-ending pathogen. Even the CDC likes it!
  • Deadly Data - Geek out with stats and graphs; monitor infection and death levels, track government reactions and cure efforts, then review your plague's success (or failure!) with full game replays.
  • And much more... - Including speed runs, Mega-Brutal difficulty and genetic modification... Plus loads of new disease types and scenarios in future (free!) updates.

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

Okay. Its a good game and everything but there are some things that really need to get worked on before full release. Enjoyability for casual gamers. You have to unlock every type of plague by beating the previous in line on normal difficulty, in which normal can be semi-difficult, but certainly not a walk in the park. I guess it adds some more playability, but its not like youre advancing missions or something, its a sandbox, imagine playing Garrys Mod and not being able to buid certain things unless youve built another thing... Anyway, its not the worst thing that could be in a video game.... until of course... well, have you ever played some old game without autosave and quit because you had to redo an entire mission because you forgot to save? Well this game can make similar feelings. You spend an unnecessary amount of time playing a plague you dont want to play to advance to the next, and if you dont kill an exact 100% of the population you automatically lose, you get no unlocks whether it be the small and barely useful perks or the next plague. You lose if you take over every country but one, or worse, in my particular case, kill over 99% of the world, causing more damage than a nuclear war, and because you simply forget to check the actual world overview (even though the entire world was covered in the red infection indicators for at least a minute) before you start mutating deadly symptoms, you lose. Worst yet, it says something like "youve killed mostly everyone but some healthy people survived", which is almost an insult because it barely outlines the fact that youve caused an apocalypse worse than biblical proportions; how about, at the very least, "Your disease pretty much killed everyone and reduced humanity to a small number of settlements in Alaska, which probably isnt the best place to be when society breaks down". Anyway, its quite daunting knowing you may be playing something of an endurance contest before you can start the fun sandbox part of it. As I said, its not like youre advancing missions, more like youre doing chores and homework before having fun. I recommend it though because otherwise its quite a good game for its price.

Who wouldn´t want to eradicate humanity from time to time?

If you say "Yes, here! Me!" then you should probably get some help.. or this game.. maybe both.
Either way, Plague Inc: Evolved is a simple game, where you can evolve your virus/bacteria etc. from a harmless flu to a pandemic mass killer.
While the base game is very easy but fun, Plague Inc. has so many different scenarios, as well as different Plagues from mind controlling worms, zombies, intelligent apes and so on, that you can destroy humanity again and again and have different playthroughs. Beside the bigger changes the ways you customize your sickness offers great replayability.

Last but not least the workshop provides hundred fan made plagues for your pleasure and humanitys demise. Furthermore a multiplayer mode is in the making and the developer is very actively improving the game time and time again.

Conclusio: Even if you know the game from it´s mobile beginnings the PC version is worth it´s money, with a broad array of possibilities and challenges to casually destroy humanity in a relaxing evening session.

First death from sex has been confirmed

Sex has infected more people in the world than HIV (How ironic.)

Sex is more infectious than the common cold

The president is ill with sex

Sex has destroyed humanity

The last healthy person on Earth recently became infected with sex

...

Clearly you can die from too much sex.

I played this game like a crack addict on my phone during brakes in my summer job and now iv'e decided to get the PC version and it's even better.

If you ever wanted to feel like a sick evil mastermind who's sole goal is to kill humanity in many wonderess ways then this game is it, from bacteria infections that might cause explosive diarrhea to kill it's subject to plain ol' simple zombie viruses, it has it all.
It's your turn to roleplay as a stupidly evil mastermind the likes of the Umbrella corp. and destroy the world just for your own entertainment.
