About This Game

Perfection. is a simple, soothing puzzle game about cutting shapes to fit into outlines. There are an infinite number of puzzles, each randomly generated to be unique and interesting.

Its gameplay is very minimalistic and very forgiving; there is no time limit, and you can cut as many times as you want and undo as many times as you want until you get each shape right. Or, you can challenge yourself to clear the shape in front of you in as few cuts as possible. Whether you get it perfect or not, once a shape is completed, it's gone forever. There's no commitment to replay any level, because there will always be a new one for you to try.

The game's soundtrack is a beautiful synthesized soundscape, composed by Omni-Psyence and available on Bandcamp for free.

Most definitely wasn't Perfection.

From the looks of the trailer it seemed as if it had potential at the least.
I imagined a stage by stage levelling system with a certain amount of levels in each stage, increasingly getting harder as you progressed. I thought this was going to be one of my next puzzle games that I can sit and have a think about and come back to every now and then until I finally got to the end of the last stage…

…well, nope.

There literally is no structure to it at all. It’s just random level after random level. I am assuming with no end, which makes it boring. It seemed a unique concept and I was really looking forward to seeing how it played out. But it’s just done terribly, I’m afraid. Like a lot of the other reviews say, it just gets boring after 5 minutes. Because in the trailer, that literally is all you are getting. Some structure to it would have made this a lot better in my opinion, but what it is now is just… horrible.

The HUD, if it even qualifies to be considered one, is rather poo. After like 5 minutes of trying to figure what the hell it was, it just seems to be three difficulty levels. 1) Cut, 2) Cut and rotate and 3) Cut, rotate and resize. Which just changes what you can do with the shape. No menu or anything, that’s it.

The music isn’t bad, it’s fairly decent but it doesn’t make up for this games lack of content or structure. This would be ok if you are just looking for some mindless… not even sure I can say ‘mindless fun’ actually, it’s not fun at all after the first 2 minutes of playing around on it. If you are looking for some mindless pointlessness, There you go, much better, then boy is this the game for you!

TL;DR : No structure, no fun, poo HUD and definitely not worth your time. Unless you are just looking for some mindless pointlessness or 2 minutes (at the most) of fun.

I can't quite place what exactly it is, but there is something immensely dislikeable about Perfection.

Maybe it's the lack of any foreseeable goal, leaving you endlessly cutting through random shapes for no other reason than to get to the next one. Without and end game, scoring system, or any other tool with which to gauge progression it makes me feel like my time is being wasted, abused as if I'm some sort of labrat for a bizarre visualization test.

Or it could just be that slicing up random shapes into a different random shapes is just very, very, very work. It's also tediously finicky in this instance, occasionally accepting a shape that's far from the outline you're aiming for, and other times requiring you finely chip away at it bit by bit until it matches up. For a game seemingly aiming to create a zen like relaxation with no penalties and a clean, uncluttered graphical design, I found myself getting shockingly annoyed with each passing moment I spent with the game (so much so that I had to turn it off after only 20 minutes or so).

Basically what I'm getting at here is Perfection is anything but. It's presentation is aesthetically pleasing from a minimalistic standpoint, and its sound design is suitable atmospheric, but I found it impossible to gleam any bit of satisfaction or enjoyment from the game no matter how hard I tried. The harder I did so, the more I began to hate having ever decided to try in the first place.

It's good for only a little bit. All you have to do is make the perfect cut in order to make the perfect shape. THAT'S IT. Luckily the game is cheap. The game isn't for everybody though I mean some people might like it. I DO think the idea of the game was quite interesting for the most part. I see that it's just a game you chillout to and that it is made to do one simple objective, but its not my cup of tea. I play it once in awhile, but not for too long.

If Zen Bound were in 2D and randomly generated, this is probably what you'd get. An endless procession of shapes wanting to be sliced down to fit a puzzle-piece shape in as few moves as possible for "perfection". Has a couple of alternate modes involving scaling and rotation too.

Very soothing, but probably not to everyone's tastes.

The game itself despite having great music is rather too simple to be engaging and lacks an engaging HUD. Furthermore, it appears at first to be a well designed game and after a while of playing i have deduced that it is a bad port of a mobile game. On a phone this game would be good but on PC? No.

Perfection... it was not for me. I could see people enjoying it, especially at that price. For me its lacking tho. The one thing I loved was the soothing music, excellent choice for a puzzle game.

I wouldn't recommend it, but I won't say it's a bad game either.

Perfection is a hard as nails puzzle game, the actual idea behind it is very simple - cut the shape to fix the outline. But actually putting this into action is easier said than done.

The game took me about seven hours to complete over the course of a few months. I couldn't bring my self to complete it in a few sessions as my simple brain couldn't handle it.

This is certainly a brain training game, and not surprisingly that there is an IOS version also, personally I'd of gotten more enjoyment out of the mobile version as it's perfect sort of game to get out when you are waiting in line or on the train for a couple of minutes.

If you like these mind boggling type of games, you'll really get a kick out of Perfection.

Well, this is first time that I do NOT want to recommend a game.

In fact, this game looks like "iSlash" in iOS that seem to be fun so why I downward my thumb? Because I can't play it and when I looked for help from developer, he just said that my GPU is not compatability with a game so he can't do anything about this, I have to play it on other machines.

Seriously?? Is this what developer supposed to do?

Not only for me, if you look through entire forum of this game you will find out many people with same problem like me and developer blamed that it's player's fault to use insuitable GPU rather than his fault for not moving his gluteus muscle (Buttock) and start solving problem like release new patch or whatever that other developers did.

However, this game has a good music that I spent 1 hour for listening. I'm glad I got this game from bundle not from buy at full price. Truthfully, DO NOT buy this game until developer fixed bug.

I started up the game with zero knowledge about how to play. Through some cues, the game told me I was expected to draw a line with the mouse through the big shape to make it fit into the outline... well at first I made a few lucky strikes without even realizing there WAS an outline to fit. Eventually I got to a point where I felt like I had missed something so I quit the game and started it back up again so I could get that initial help again.

The game didn't give me the initial help again, so I had to just keep trying. Eventually I realized the outline was the goal. I could also see that most of the puzzles were already aligned so all I had to do was make one stroke and I was done. Pretty simple.

Then I noticed a tab at the bottom that when clicked on gave me some extra options. Now I could choose to play levels where rotation of the object would be required to align it with the outline, or I could also choose to resize the shape as well as rotate it. These actions did add a bit of complexity to the game but not that much. It's also possible that had I kept playing I would have seen more options come up. I couldn't really see myself continuing to play this more than half an hour though.

I did keep playing in the different modes and noticed that eventually the single stroke goal became 2, and again, it's possible that they get more complex as you go, but it really didn't feel like it was more satisfying to complete the more complex tasks.

Ultimately, the game is an ok diversion, but it feels like something you'd play on your phone for 10 minutes at a time rather than something you'd play on your PC for an hour or more. I guess if you needed a diversion while you wait on hold on the phone, this would be a good game for that. A distraction without being too distracting.

What I liked about this game
  • It's a simple game but can still present a challenge
  • the music is pretty soothing

What I didn't like about this game
  • It seems like a random and endless series of "puzzles"
  • no score kept, no goals to strive for, nothing to compel me to keep playing
  • the music is a bit too soothing. It makes me want to take a nap
  • it doesn't seem like a game as much as an exercise or maybe an IQ test

It's not a bad game per se, it's just that it would rank one step above "coloring books" as an activity I'd want to do. If you can concentrate on the action and you get satisfaction from completing the action then I guess it's worth playing, but this game is pretty forgiving.

The game is too random, finding a perfect solution is too hard. Most levels should be hand-crafted; random-generated ones must be moved to the endless mode. Fix that and I'll give it another try.

Not exactly the spring loaded game from the 80s, this version of perfection is played with knives. Scale, rotate and cut away at randomly generated shapes to match the target outline.

The core gameplay has some potential but lacks any framing to tie the experience together. The random puzzles fail to provide a smooth difficulty progression and combined with a very loose definition of 'perfection' many puzzles are solved by luck over skill.

Perfection is the best game thats about cutting shapes you would probaly only see while on shrooms into smaller shapes you would probaly only see while on shrooms.

A very, very odd game this - not only does it lack any sense of progress or purpose (it's just an endless stack of puzzles) but the puzzles themselves lack any sort of challenge.

You just hack away at something until it looks like something else - there may be a bit of cleverness required to do some of the puzzles - there may be a quicker route (with no scoring or progress this hardly matters) but for the most part you just hack away until it says "OK"

It's a strange thing to play - a fairly simply idea made simply by removing ANYTHING resembling a game from it!?
