Perfection. is a simple, soothing puzzle game about cutting shapes to fit into outlines. There are an infinite number of puzzles, each randomly generated to be unique and interesting.

Its gameplay is very minimalistic and very forgiving; there is no time limit, and you can cut as many times as you want and undo as many times as you want until you get each shape right. Or, you can challenge yourself to clear the shape in front of you in as few cuts as possible. Whether you get it perfect or not, once a shape is completed, it's gone forever. There's no commitment to replay any level, because there will always be a new one for you to try.

The game's soundtrack is a beautiful synthesized soundscape, composed by Omni-Psyence and available on Bandcamp for free.

Perfection is a hard as nails puzzle game, the actual idea behind it is very simple - cut the shape to fix the outline. But actually putting this into action is easier said than done.

The game took me about seven hours to complete over the course of a few months. I couldn't bring my self to complete it in a few sessions as my simple brain couldn't handle it.

This is certainly a brain training game, and not surprisingly that there is an IOS version also, personally I'd of gotten more enjoyment out of the mobile version as it's perfect sort of game to get out when you are waiting in line or on the train for a couple of minutes.

If you like these mind boggling type of games, you'll really get a kick out of Perfection.

Most definitely wasn't Perfection.

From the looks of the trailer it seemed as if it had potential at the least.
I imagined a stage by stage levelling system with a certain amount of levels in each stage, increasingly getting harder as you progressed. I thought this was going to be one of my next puzzle games that I can sit and have a think about and come back to every now and then until I finally got to the end of the last stage…

…well, nope.

There literally is no structure to it at all. It’s just random level after random level. I am assuming with no end, which makes it boring. It seemed a unique concept and I was really looking forward to seeing how it played out. But it’s just done terribly, I’m afraid. Like a lot of the other reviews say, it just gets boring after 5 minutes. Because in the trailer, that literally is all you are getting. Some structure to it would have made this a lot better in my opinion, but what it is now is just… horrible.

The HUD, if it even qualifies to be considered one, is rather poo. After like 5 minutes of trying to figure what the hell it was, it just seems to be three difficulty levels. 1) Cut, 2) Cut and rotate and 3) Cut, rotate and resize. Which just changes what you can do with the shape. No menu or anything, that’s it.

The music isn’t bad, it’s fairly decent but it doesn’t make up for this games lack of content or structure. This would be ok if you are just looking for some mindless… not even sure I can say ‘mindless fun’ actually, it’s not fun at all after the first 2 minutes of playing around on it. If you are looking for some mindless pointlessness, There you go, much better, then boy is this the game for you!


TL;DR : No structure, no fun, poo HUD and definitely not worth your time. Unless you are just looking for some mindless pointlessness or 2 minutes (at the most) of fun.

It's good for only a little bit. All you have to do is make the perfect cut in order to make the perfect shape. THAT'S IT. Luckily the game is cheap. The game isn't for everybody though I mean some people might like it. I DO think the idea of the game was quite interesting for the most part. I see that it's just a game you chillout to and that it is made to do one simple objective, but its not my cup of tea. I play it once in awhile, but not for too long.

If Zen Bound were in 2D and randomly generated, this is probably what you'd get. An endless procession of shapes wanting to be sliced down to fit a puzzle-piece shape in as few moves as possible for "perfection". Has a couple of alternate modes involving scaling and rotation too.

Very soothing, but probably not to everyone's tastes.

I can't quite place what exactly it is, but there is something immensely dislikeable about Perfection.

Maybe it's the lack of any foreseeable goal, leaving you endlessly cutting through random shapes for no other reason than to get to the next one. Without and end game, scoring system, or any other tool with which to gauge progression it makes me feel like my time is being wasted, abused as if I'm some sort of labrat for a bizarre visualization test.

Or it could just be that slicing up random shapes into a different random shapes is just very, very, very work. It's also tediously finicky in this instance, occasionally accepting a shape that's far from the outline you're aiming for, and other times requiring you finely chip away at it bit by bit until it matches up. For a game seemingly aiming to create a zen like relaxation with no penalties and a clean, uncluttered graphical design, I found myself getting shockingly annoyed with each passing moment I spent with the game (so much so that I had to turn it off after only 20 minutes or so).

Basically what I'm getting at here is Perfection is anything but. It's presentation is aesthetically pleasing from a minimalistic standpoint, and its sound design is suitable atmospheric, but I found it impossible to gleam any bit of satisfaction or enjoyment from the game no matter how hard I tried. The harder I did so, the more I began to hate having ever decided to try in the first place.
