An average game. This, however, is UTTER ♥♥♥♥♥. It's the laziest port of the xbox 360 version I have ever seen. "Press Y! *Shows xbox 360 Y button*"

Happy Wars was originally a game on Xbox 360, it was free like it is here and was fairly decent.

Or so it seemed. The game on PC is not as good as I percieved it on the old console.

Aspect Review
Gameplay Fairly basic gameplay, constant button mashing to kill your enemy. Nothing too special. Abilities aren't the best to use as the controls for them are horrible. The game doesn't have much depth to it at all. Just a basic castle siege game. You could it's a basic version of the PS3 game "Fat Princess", just without the class variety, easy to use controls and interesting maps. The player count is fairly low, and as such finding a match takes time.
Graphics and Optimisation Graphics aren't anything to be amazed at. In fact they're quite generic, the sort of thing I'd expect from a Previous Generation console even at max settings, just slightly higher resoloution. The game is horribly optimised, capping FPS to 30. This for me was my main concern with the game, as overtime I can see myself getting a headache from the low FPS. My rig is FAR more than capable of achieving 60 FPS on this Xbox 360 game.
Additional Content There's plenty of items to buy from the store and as far as I know it is mostly possible to get them all in-game for free, more or less. I don't know much about the system as the whole game was confusing in general. I liked the spinner and other ways to earn and level up items with in-game currency, I found this was an interesting way of achieving items.
Value It's free, so as long as you don't buy any items, I don't see how you could really be losing anything here.

Pay to win? Somewhat
OVERALL 5

The game isn't fun for very long. I got bored VERY quickly. If you're super bored and need to pass time maybe give it a go. It's free. Otherwise I wouldn't suggest investing time into it as it is relatively boring, slightly pay to win and dying in terms of player base.

As for the Pay to win, you can buy items with real money, and boost in-game money with real money too (Happy Tickets). As such, you could buy more OP items with money and beat people who still use the default tools. It's not MEGA pay to win, as I found it fairly easy to kill people with the Gear I acheived for free, but it could be considered somewhat P2W.

I'm gonna give it a recommendation since it's not a BAD game, but neither is it a good game. It's mediocre. If it costed money I would not recommend, but since it's free, I don't see why not.

Wars always have stupid reasons to be started. And of course, White flag's reason is the less stupid one. FU black team! I'll kick your asses in the battlefield.

For a free game, it gives more than it takes, i.e great happiness by it's sounds, music, and cute characters with kick-♥♥♥ skills. And the gameplay is like Dungeon Defender's. But in this game you don't just defend your tower, but also get into offense to bring down the enemy team's tower. Also, team skills are great addition.

This game deserves support.

It really is a fun game I oftenly play it on xbox and prefer it on xbox because for some reason it is the ONLY game that performs slowly. Other than that great game and an excellent choice if you want to escape the *real game reality*.

Alright... Happy Wars. I was a very huge fan of the game when it was released on Xbox 360 and I still am a huge fan. I really enjoy the game and its crazy multiplayer battles.

Something that I really wished that would be brought to the game is the option to port all your data from xbox 360 version to the pc version. I know that some of you may agree with me on this. I mean I have alot of things that I really want to have on the pc version. I did spend some money on the game in the Xbox 360 version and I wish I could have all my stuff on the pc version.

I feel like the developers arent really paying any attention to the pc version of their game and more focused on the xbox versions of the game. Or more focused on their new upcoming game Happy Dungeons. Wich appears to me that its only for Xbox one but I am not sure.

I still really like this game, I just really wish I could have all my stuff from xbox 360 on pc. They may have a reason for not allowing it but I REALLY would like it if they did.

If you havent played the xbox version than do PLAY THIS GAME. Its great. If you are coming from xbox just hang in there!

Sorry if I misspelled anything. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Good game!

I've played Happy Wars for two years on Xbox Live, and now it has arrived on Steam.

The game is simple.
Endless matches. A war between two castles. Three classes (Warrior, Cleric and Mage). Leveling up characters and equipments. Building respawn towers. Having fun.
The graphics are kind of childish and the game is light, and that's good. It's a game for all ages.

There isn't much to tell about the game. It's as simple as it looks like, and it's incredibly enjoyable.

The main mode is the multiplayer mode. There is PvP for at least 6 players (up to 30), and there is the Co-Op mode (playing against bots) for at least 8 players.

There is also the single-player mode, with story mode, tutorials and the skirmish mode (the same as multiplayer, but only with bots).

The game is the same, but a PC port brings new possibilities.

Besides being able to play it using keyboard+mouse and also using a gamepad, adding players is way faster than on Xbox, and having a faster text chat helps a lot.

This game is not a pay-to-win. You're not forced to play against high-leveled people, and they won't charge you for accessing any part of the game. But of course there is some cool stuff you can get by using real money, such as better chances of getting good equipments, using it to improve equipments instead of using game money, unlocking the evolved classes faster and buying items.

That's one of my favorite free-to-play games, I'd recommend this to anyone who likes RPG, war games, magic games or even MOBA.

Play it! It's free! Have nice fun!

As much as I want to love this game(believe me, I do), I really can't recommend this game to anyone because of the atrocious matchmaking and rather repetetive gameplay/modes. It is a mediocre port locked at 30fps. There is no communication in lobbies or in matches, except for the small commands in matches, which do not really matter at all because they are constantly spammed, making them serve barely any purpose at all.

The visual style is both charming and gorgeous, and the gameplay is fun and addicting, but it is all the other negative factors that pulls my verdict for the game down.

There are no official servers or support for community servers, the game is 100% peer to peer. You are often tossed in matches with people from the other side of the globe, then kicked out in the middle of the match because either A. The match was ended because there are too few players to actually countinue(everyone else has been disconnected), or B. You have lost connection to the other peers.

EDIT: A small point that I left out was the microtransactions present in Happy Wars. Certain items are pay2win only, but most of the items are available through luck and grinding, as expected for a f2p title. The happy tickets (Happy War's premium currency) can be used to get easier access to equipment or to make progress on certain quest. For some, premium players might seem overpowered for some, but it all depends on how well you play, not just you, but you and your team.

EDIT: In Happy Wars, each basic class possesses one archtype (advanced class), which are unlocked through the various quests in the game. The quests consist of for the most part of "doing this" or "kill x amount of that", again, more grinding. As I mentioned earlier, Happy Tickets can be used to make progress on certain quests, giving premium players easier access to the archtypes.

The community is also rather dull and the developers are barely communicating/and or listening to the players. I expressed my thoughts on the lack of servers a while back and ended up getting my comment removed.

TL;DR
Pros
+Gorgeous visual style
+Good soundtrack
+Addictive and fun gameplay

Cons
-Horrible matchmaking
-Locked framerate(locked at 30)
-Lack of communication both in matches and in lobbies
-The game gets somewhat repetetive after X amount of hours
-No sign of the developers actually communicating with the players
-Somewhat p2w

5.5/10

EDIT: For those who are rating this review down, please leave a comment and tell me why, I want to hear your opinions. General feedback is also much appreciated.

Pros:
+ Lots of fun with friends
+ Easy to play and relatively easy to get into
+ Cute and charming design
+ Pretty cool drops when you start out
+ Most people I've played with are supportive and play as a team

Cons:
- LAG. Doesn't matter how good your net is you will lag and your hits won't register
- Loading time takes forever
- Unrealiable servers. You will disconnected for no reason
- In my experience finding matches takes a while. Either there isn't enough people to start a match (so you have to reset every 30 seconds to see if anyone else wants to come in OR they get disconnected)
- Usually unbalanced ( For example, my last match: 8 people in game. 3 1 stars on my team, 4 people with over 1000 hours on the other = we lost instantly). So don't get mad if your team loses a few dozen times xD

Clocked 30hrs (level 21) when i wrote this. So is this game worth to try? YES!!!

Before I decide to invest my time in a game, what i usually do is to read only the negative reviews in the sea of positives. If i can tolerate what is negative about the game, i will go ahead to try it.

My experience as a newbie was fun and comical. Early in my low levels, i randomly obtained a decent fishbone sword and an awesome seashell as my shield and that sealed my fate as a Warrior major (btw u can switch classes in the middle of battle much like Battlefield 3). Later, i realized it was so much fun hacking those pesky mages.

The gameplay is like a cross between DOTA + Battlefield 3 + Rakion (+ KongKong Online for the artstyle). Not only u need to be a good combatant, u need to have good situational/strategic awareness and know where u will be most useful. U also get 1 free random gear per match, and you can upgrade/tweak ur equipment with non-cash currency called Happy Stars that u earn after every battle.

There are not many connection/lag problems, things go rather smoothly but you do have to wait like 20-80 secs to get a match going. Regarding the claim that u will get thrown into the game with loads of people higher level than u or much better equipment than u, its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t/outdated. When i play, the teams are usually balanced and high levels are spread out on both teams. As a freebie player, i am able to contribute significantly to my team and even get MVP. So is it pay2win? Not for the first 20+ levels i can say for sure, however i am not sure for higher levels. In all, my journey thus far was just HAPPY WARRING!

Basically the game plays like AAS mode. As you gain land you are able to build catapults to invade the enemy's fortress. There's three classes Warrior, Mage, and Cleric. I believe Item drops are random after every match. You gain class by killing/winning, weapon xp by killing, and point by winning. These points can be use to purchase new gear for the classes. Game is played in a third person perspective, and wasd with the hack and slash feel to it. Really fun game totalz recommendz. Reminds me of Fat Princess. This game is a good alternative to FP. Hopefully they add more modes later.
