Clocked 30hrs (level 21) when i wrote this. So is this game worth to try? YES!!!

Before I decide to invest my time in a game, what i usually do is to read only the negative reviews in the sea of positives. If i can tolerate what is negative about the game, i will go ahead to try it.

My experience as a newbie was fun and comical. Early in my low levels, i randomly obtained a decent fishbone sword and an awesome seashell as my shield and that sealed my fate as a Warrior major (btw u can switch classes in the middle of battle much like Battlefield 3). Later, i realized it was so much fun hacking those pesky mages.

The gameplay is like a cross between DOTA + Battlefield 3 + Rakion (+ KongKong Online for the artstyle). Not only u need to be a good combatant, u need to have good situational/strategic awareness and know where u will be most useful. U also get 1 free random gear per match, and you can upgrade/tweak ur equipment with non-cash currency called Happy Stars that u earn after every battle.

There are not many connection/lag problems, things go rather smoothly but you do have to wait like 20-80 secs to get a match going. Regarding the claim that u will get thrown into the game with loads of people higher level than u or much better equipment than u, its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥/outdated. When i play, the teams are usually balanced and high levels are spread out on both teams. As a freebie player, i am able to contribute significantly to my team and even get MVP. So is it pay2win? Not for the first 20+ levels i can say for sure, however i am not sure for higher levels. In all, my journey thus far was just HAPPY WARRING!

Fun. Joy. Happiness. Ecstasy. Candyfloss. Puppies. Pleasure. Euphoria. Fedora. Ponchos. Digletts. Masturbation. Money. Nudity. Madeline McCann. Erectile dysfunction. Chest hair. Girls. Boys over the age of 7. Creed. Pope Francis. Easter egg fred. GTA clone.

I found none of these in the game and I have to say that I am not the slightest bit dissapointed.

I got this b/c it had full controller support, the game looks weird on screenshots but the gameplay is actually surprisingly fun. I recommend, especially if you own an xbox controller. :)

After finishing a nice cold soda, I tossed the can into a recycling bin, it bounced off and hit an opposing faction member's foot... thousands died from the resulting war... 10/10

I first played this on the Xbox 360, and loved it. Ever since then I've searched for it on Pc, but couldn't find it. Then, a few months ago(6-ish?) it came out on Steam, and I immidiately got it. I love this game! Hours of fun!

Happy Wars is a great game for if you want to be alone or with friends. You can really mess around or get competative. It does look a little childish but that is what makes this game halarious. And a great aspect of this game, YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY. But you can pay for better items. But i dont run into many people who pay to play and if they do the good items they get are just as good as the non rare.

I love happy wars! I didn't expect it to be so cute yet deadly. It's like a mixture of league and POE, but 3D. And cute

Absolutely love this game. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to other. It is hilarious, and just plain fun to play. The steam version isn't as good as the XBox 360 version, but I am sure the devs are going to improve that soon enough. I can't wait until they add the other classes for the Mage, Warrior, and Cleric. That will be fun. :3

This game is fairly decent, especially on the Steam release.

In my opinion, at least, this version I see better. It may be downgraded, sure, but in reality, after playing this version for a while, I really don't see shelling out $60/yr just to play this game. Sure, there are other great titles on the Xbox, but most also have an emphasis on multiplayer. Since becoming a regular on the PC gaming community, I have seen the $60 for XBLG as not worth an investment.

In terms of gameplay, it is relatively unchanged. Despite coming from a downgraded version of the Xbox release, the same formula carries on from the Xbox version, but with it, the same flaws. One major flaw is the lack of alternative gamemodes. The developers would at least have done their best to incorporate a basic free-for-all/team deathmatch gamemode (which everybody knows everybody likes).

Another major flaw is that some of the elements in this game indeed work on paper, but in practical terms, there are elements that stand out from the rest. These elements can bias gameplay toward certain play styles, but again, on matches with the ideal amount of participants, things like this make little to no difference.

Diving in to game-specific details, the primary objective is to siege the enemy's fort before the enemy does the like to you. You have two general options in this case: a full-scale rush, or a stealth trial. Stealth, however, is a bit of a mess. Even if you happen to get lucky from the skilled players not knowing you are behind enemy lines (or even the rest of the conditions are in your favor), the AI are self-conscious and can easily tell you are in their grounds. Despite this, the AI are relatively weak and are pretty easy to kill. But especially with lack of communication (even in this version) and an inability to fully hide yourself, it makes stealth almost a non-option. There are times where players have succeeded in such a risk, but again, these kinds of stuff are more luck-based than skill-based.

Overall, besides the many execution failures in this game, this game is nevertheless a good experience. For those who have the Xbox version, it is indeed a worthwhile move to get this version and try it out. But accounting for the minor and little number of major flaws this game has, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this game to respect those who would rant from me, but at the same time, I woudn't say this is something to stay away from. However, because Steam requires it, my final score is the only deciding factor in my recommendation.

Like I said, many features in the Xbox version are not present in this version, though I doubt any sort of dramatic addition on the Xbox will make it worth it for me to shell out another year of XBLG.

Happy Wars PC gets a 7.1 out of 10, and being above 7 gets my recommendation.

Great Game. My only issue is with the matchmaking. I'm sure its much better on XboxOne. Once i made it past level 20 its seemed I was only being matched with max level players. I'd like to see it more fairly matched with players of similar levels and equips. Very much pay to win game. Very expensive as well.

Really cute and fun game! I love the amount of players per match, and some of the ultimate skills had me dying of laughter. Even if you don't have much gear or whatver, you still can end up contributing a lot to your team.

Definitely recommend this game.

It's great. Cartoonish characters, simple combat, and customization. It's a bit like castle crashers. the only downside is Happy Tickets. you use them to buy gear. this gear is really good. there are two ways to get them. 1. fufill certain requierments the princess gives you. 2. BUY THEM. This adds in a bit on a Pay-To-Win aspect, but with skill, you can avoid it.
