So, I've seen this game get a lott of guff for not being like Tropico 4. Now, having owned both, I can truthfully say; that's not necessarily a bad thing. Should you get T4? Yes, it's a great game. Should you get T5? Yeah, it's also a great game. Why? Because they're both their own games. You'll find, as a gamer, you'll enjoy things more if you can appreciate what makes them unique instead of looking for new graphics for the same old game.

TL;DR: Don't listen to the haters, El Presidente; your people need you. (Especially on sale)

This game takes you through Eras, not just a one and done Building Cycle, Governing Factions and Trade fluxuations. I swear, T4 was almost too easy with its Factions setup (at least for me). From foreign powers to local politics each Era has its own flavor of personal dealings, edicts and the like.

The game has controller support. Yeah, I like that. I stopped trying to create Powerpoint presentations on my PS4 and likewise stopped trying to play every game on my computer with a mouse and keyboard. It's the little things I appreciate. Like also how the different buildings have their own levels of investment to affect their production levels and managers you can hire to offer little bonuses.

The way the farms and mines lay out are much more user friendly in T5 as well. It's almost seamless checking between variant crops and ranches to their respective areas to see what would fit where best. The plantations show an accurate area usage for your consideration when placing them and the overall feel of the building options seems fluid.

I personally enjoy the little stamps as the icons, I find that to be fitting to the theme of Tropico. I have no trouble knowing where the different sets of buildings are and their skins (especially as how they partain to the various eras) are vibrant and well drawn.

There's a fog of war on this game. Interesting use, you can send expeditions out there to find out what lies beyond. I like it. I like the exploration value instead of taking 5 minutes at the start of a map to see where literally everything is. There's more gaming aspects to this Tropico than there was to the last, more ways to enjoy the game besides finding new ways to make the same winning combination of goods and policies.

Basically, if you wanna hate on a game, you can find a reason. Me? I'm El Presidente, I have no time for such plebieans. Game on, fellow Dictators!

Tropico 4 made me buy Tropico 5. The fifth game in the series was a huge disappointment. So much content was lacking when the game was released, so many bugs and weird choices by the devs. What i think about though, when i think about Tropico 5, is one word: greed. So much content that could have been carried over from Tropico 4 in the release version, but the devs chose the EA-way of doing things, with tonnes of content being handed out over time as tiny but expensive dlc, and their greed ruined the game. Such a shame.
