An unusual game, due to its focus on the 'Political' genre, one that not many would touch, with, frankly, poor execution.
You start off as the leader of a country, with an all-new political party (though I may not be a political expert, I'm sure that you'd need favour of the voters, prior to becoming their leader) that nobody supports, but enough people voted for. You start the game, by choosing your country, your party's name, your opposition's name, term lengths, term limits, natural disasters (via some form of wizardry), compulsary voting, monarchy (on/off - not the greatest thing to remove as you enter office), difficulty, political apathy, and innate [Socialism/Liberalism]. A lot of choices, before starting the game; leading you to believe that this game is quite complicated and difficult to grasp.
With my political ineptitude, I didn't think that I'd last for more than 1 term; I was wrong. This game doesn't seem to understand the necessary balance between you being right and being wrong; The electorate doesn't have any, apparent, political preference. For me to put this, truly, into words, I'll have to walk you through how I set out my career.
I decided to go for the United kingdom - a highly Christian nation - and call myself 'The Atheist Party', being an avid atheist. I then decided that, in this highly Christian nation, that I would do everything, in my power, to eradicate religion. This has, since, gone down well, and this has had no effect on my popularity with the electorate. In the same year, I was, also, able to take poverty, crime, tobacco, tax fraud away and half the national debt. This shows just how broken this game can be, when you know nothing about politics. I'm now 12 hours into the game and have 100% of the votes, every term, have never been targeted for assassination, don't seem to be losing favour with anybody I haven't already annoyed , irreparably, and the national reserve is only going up. I've had to download countless mods, to simply elongate the life-span of this game, alas, it has lost its brief charm and, with it, my favour.
Of course, during my time playing it, I had a lot of fun, playing it. But this goes quite quickly and, unless you are a devout politician, you may not have a great deal of fun with it, once you have fulfilled your desired goals. If you are, like me, looking for a good strategy game, then, may I suggest anything, but this.
