- Parasoul's speech bubble for Egret Call and Peacock's whistle speed bubble for SoID are now white in all palettes.

To the person who asked about the Linux port, Mister Dude is still working on it. Hhe said something today excitedly about hot-swapping joysticks being supported by SDL.

Good:
+ plays like Mahvel, but doesn't at the same time
+ ratio teams and custom assists are ballin'
+ neato tutorial for scrubs
+ fancy graphics and coolio music
+ wow ggpo netplay

Lame:
- reset-heavy gameplay might ruin your Christmas
- combo video with every hit

Conclusion: Don't get SFxT

Speaking more seriously, SG is a good game. If you like fighting games or are simply interested in them, consider SG.

A very unique art style that animates beautifully is the first thing noticeable about Skullgirls. While I'm far from a 'hardcore' fighting game fan, I enjoy to play these types of games rather casually, and enjoy facing off against friends. The 8-girl cast is a bit small at the moment, but over the next couple month, another 5 will be added to the list, including, for some reason, two dudes. The netcode in Skullgirls uses GGPO, and has been lagless against everyone I've played, and, unlike the console version, the PC version has a lobby system for facing people. This is certainly one of my favorite fighting games recently.

Came for the art, stayed for the gameplay, as should you.

It's pleasing easthetically, smoothly animated and comes with very responsive characters to pick from. Each fighter(ess?) has a very unique and fun style of fighting, making sure everyone will fall in love with at least a few (hey, I'm talking gameplay-wise, focus here will ya).

Ideal game for both fighting game veterans and (thanks to the great tutorial) people who are just starting their adventure with the fighting game genre.

Skullgirls is a fast-paced, drop dead gorgeous fighting game with an interesting and growing roster, one of the best tutorials for a fighting game and a helpful community. It's a must buy if you're interested in getting more serious about fighting games and a blast for playing casually with friends.

Despite never having played a 2d fighter beyond a really casual level, (although I do have a small competitive Smash Bros. background) it was very easy getting into the deeper parts of fighting games. The in-game tutorial gives a very good starting point. It explains basic and more advanced fighting game concepts and beyond that, there are brilliant guides and helpful individuals at skullheart.com, the dedicated forums.

The cast, albeit small, is intriguing and diverse, ranging from an amnesiac schoolgirl and her hairy parasite to a little girl-turned-cyborg wielding weaponry inspired by old cartoons. and soon, a saxophone man, dropping the beat on his opponents. The currently 9 characters have more than enough charm to make up for their lack in numbers, but there are 4 more characters (the sax-man Big Band, the egyptian songstress Eliza, the wrestler Beowulf and his trusty chair, and the enigmatic robotic version of Ms. Fortune) to be released over the following year that each have a free-to-download period thanks to the Indiegogo campain. And even after that, there is a sheer limitless character pool of astounding variety in the mind of the universe's creator.

The gameplay is fast and offers a vast amount of tools to be creative with your combos. No character plays like the other while the roster in it's entirety is incredibly well balanced. You can choose between fighting as one strong, two medium or three weak characters, allowing you to employ a variety of tactics and easing you into a team-based fighting style, should you be interested in such. The community and the developers have a great deal of interaction. This, along with the often updated beta version allow for fine-tuning and steady improvement of the already great underlying systems.

No matter how much you are interested in fighting game, Skullgirls is a great place to start, and a great place to stay!
