Combo Breaker 2016 registration is open!

You better believe this gets an announcement here!

If you play Skullgirls, YOU SHOULD GO TO COMBO BREAKER.
I'm already registered!Yep! SG and VSav.

Even if you can only travel to one fighting game community event in 2016, MAKE THAT EVENT COMBO BREAKER. Combo Breaker 2015 was the absolute BEST tournament experience I have ever had, and 2016 looks to be equally amazing.

The venue is open 24 hours. You don't have to play games in your hotel room - there are round-the-clock stations for ALL tournament games, including Skullgirls! If you're like me, you go to tournaments to play games against people you never get to play, not to sit around and watch other people do that. Well, Combo Breaker has got that covered. Other tournaments could learn a thing or two. :^)

Oh right. Where is it? It's in Chicago, you fly to O'Hare.
Launch trailer:

I was not compensated in any way for this announcement, I'm just hella excited for this. The Skullgirls community will be out in force!

Skullgirls news roundup, and Indivisible's on Steam!

According to steamspy there are over 600,000 people that own Skullgirls on Steam.
::suddenly gets very nervous::
Er, h...hello. ...everyone...

Indivisible is on Steam
The prototype for that game we're crowdfunding is now available on Steam. Wait a second...YOU'RE on Steam! Why not try it? We're even having speedrun contests. (And other contests, but we all know speedrunners are the popular kids. :^)
Remember, it's a prototype. Nothing is final, lots of things about combat/platforming will be updated, etc. Obligatory campaign link.

Skullgirls tutorial videos
Amazingly helpful community member (and all-around nice guy) Skarmand has been making some really great videos explaining different aspects of Skullgirls. Whether you're a beginner or a super-high-level player who scoffs at tutorials, there'll be something in here you didn't know*:
...and of course it only embeds the video, without the rest of the playlist, so here's the entire playlist.

Skullgirls is out in Japanese arcades!
HOLY CRAP, SKULLGIRLS IS FINALLY OUT ON NESICA IN JAPANESE ARCADES! It's an ARCADE GAME! TRF has tournaments for it! There is a-cho footage! I know it's old-ish news but come on, FREAKIN' ARCADES!

And, down at the bottom where nobody reads...

An apology for delayed fixes
Fixes for some issues raised in the comments of the last update - and some extra things like various optimizations and other bugfixes I've had on my list forever - are coming...except I am not yet able to make new Linux and Mac builds, because I'm just not that suave. Without being able to make those, if I update only the Windows version, it will break cross-platform play. So any fixes have to wait until I can update all three platforms. :^(

For those wondering about console lobbies, the Vita port has taken a lot longer than anticipated (you have no idea!) but it is nearly done. Console lobbies are still coming after that's completed. I apologize for this delay too.

* Those high-level players can pretend they knew, I won't tell. (^.~)

This game is amazing, It takes everything that's great about The Marvel vs Capcom games and ArcSystem Works games. Whether 1v1, or 2v1 or 3v3, etc. The Possible Match outcomes for this game are plenty.

The Game also has a nice sizable cast even without the DLC updates and sometimes a small cast can help you out in the long run, but that's not to say the DLC characters aren't anything to miss because when you play this game, more than likely you're gonna play with the full roster.

But the main reason why you should get this game is because it's SUPER USER FRIENDLY with it's in depth tutorial mode. Yes that's right, not only does this game have a Story/Arcade mode and Multiplayer (local and online), This game has a mode dedicated to teach you how to play fighting games. Yeah you read that right IT TEACHES YOU HOW TO PLAY FIGHTING GAMES. Not just Skullgirls, but it does help there too. The Game actually teaches you about Hitboxes and Recoveries and Punishes and all of that stuff you hear at EVO live streams, it's freakin' great!

And after done with the Tutorial you'll have a better understanding on how this game is played and how all other fighting games are played so it's a win win.

This is the perfect Fighting game for beginners and the Communtiy is well too So if you were ever interested in the genre this is a good place to start.

5/5 stars!

Skullgirls is a 2D arcade action fighting game released on the PC in August 2013. The game was originally released on the consoles in 2012 and had great success.

Skullgirls differs from the fighting games that we have lately, in that you can actually fight in teams of two or three, as well as the single sided matches. All of the rules are the same as usual, however in team matches, the team which has the most health when adding them all together wins in the event of the time running out. Each of the characters have a wide array of move sets to learn, and combos. Some of the special attacks are just amazing to watch. The animations on all of the characters is absolutely flawless.

Since Skullgirls focuses a lot on the team matches, that means you are going to get plenty of double teams and dirty tricks being played by "non active" characters, and even hyper combos.

All of the environments that you fight in are absolutely stunning as well. Even though they are pre-rendered, they are presented in a stunning art style which fits right in with the game. I would of liked to have seen maybe a little environment interactivity, but I guess you can't ask for everything.

The story mode in Skullgirls isn't all that brilliant. It is extremely short, and you can blast through the story mode on any character in under 20 minutes if you try. Yes you get the story and plot out of it, but all of the battles are the same each time you play and there is no varying. This is easily the shortest fighting game story mode I have played.

Sound effects and sound track really are done well in Skullgirls. They are certainly way above par in the fighting genre. You can actually. The sound track is amazing - you can purchase it separately here if you are into that kind of thing as well.

Skullgirls has varying levels of difficulty in the regular, normal, easy and hard modes. Certainly steer clear from easy mode as it offers no challenge at all. I really couldn't keep up hard mode even on the story mode. There is also a couple of other modes to play in too - the normal arcade mode and versus mode. This game also has a very good tutorial which introduces all of the elements and some of the combos for your characters.

Like I said, you can finish the story mode on a single player mode in under twenty minutes. Of course you can replay it with all of the characters which is about seven or eight (not including the DLC), which is in my opinion a bit low. Where you are going to get your mileage out of Skullgirls is in the arcade mode and in the multiplayer mode. I have spent about 6 hours playing online (mostly getting my self owned over and over again), and I am having a blast playing. This is easily the best multiplayer fighter I've played in a while.

I really strongly recommend Skullgirls, just off the pure fact that it is highly addictive to play, and you can pick up and play so easily. The inclusion of a well put together tutorial and combo system makes this game head and shoulders above most other fighting games of this type.
